Brad Pitt Walks With A Cane

Brad Pitt has been spotted walking around with a cane on private property on Thursday (January 5) in Beverly Hills, Calif.

“He tore his MCL,” a source exclusively tells JustJared.com. The MCL is short for medial collateral ligament, one of four ligaments that stabilizes the knee joint.

Over the weekend, the 48-year-old actor picked up some groceries with son Pax in his new sidecar motorcycle.

The L.A. Times reports that Brad‘s upcoming film, World War Z, may become a franchise.

Paramount sees the zombie thriller “as a trilogy that would have the grounded, gun-metal realism of, say, [Matt] Damon‘s Jason Bourne series tethered to the unsettling end-times vibe of AMC’s The Walking Dead.”

So disappointed in Paramount…anyone who read World War Z knows it is not some bit action blockbuster cash cow.

It is a survival story and a story about denial. It is a realistic account after the fact of how the world would exist and react in the case of a zombie war.

Fools.

ANUSTON is a b.iatch and EVERYONE IN HW KNOWS THAT. No wonder why she doesn’t have a JOB anymore. Poor JenHO, old, leathery and ugly inside and out. The best thing about this is that Brad Pitt and 20 other men DUMPED HER. BWAHAHAHHA I guess they don’t like her beautiful body huh? Nyahahaha

POOR TROLL @ 01/05/2012 at 3:37 pm

No matter how much you try troll, your post will disappear in less than a minute. That’s how many JP fans are at JJ. So get lost and move along. LOL Sucks to be a hen huh? Loony Anuston paid poster. BWAHAHAHA

Looks like Brad is working on something like building something. In Charlie Rose interview he said something designee. He is wearing the overalls lately, I guess he is building something.

Angelina will be at a screening of ITLOBAH in Washingston D. C on Jan 10. Brad is expected to receive Best Actor from NYFCC in New York city on Jan. 9, possibly they both will attend both events.

Looking sexy, papa Pitt. Okay, Ryan Reynolds and Jason Trawick will soon be seen wearing Jumpsuits, lol.

Hey, where did the pictures go?

Media Wh@re MANiston @ 01/05/2012 at 3:47 pm

I hope he will get better. Need him on the RC. As for the name changing trolls, just suck it.

MCL tear? wow, that is pretty serious.

He’s with the cane today. Maybe he got hurt today or after he drove yesterday.

jared not got the money for these pics again eh?
they have disappeared.

either that or this site is messed up.

@love B&A, please bring over those videos to this thread, I cannot do it. I want the troll(s) to listen to those videos and go totally insane this evening. The hens are on our thread trying to disrupt the thread. Let’s give them something to talk about. They really believe we care what they have to say, how foolish can trolls be. They don’t understand they are only white noise that are ignored.

Jared removed the pictures. Brad looks hot even with a cane. Fingers crossed he will be recovered by Saturday with his finest self on the stage to get Achievement Actor Award honor.

@Rose:

Rose, OK anything to tick off the Ticky hens. Here are the videos from Nancy talking about Ticky when she allowed her to live in her apartment in NYC & how Ticky treated her years later. This woman aka Jennypoo is a sad sack of a woman & is pathetic! Obviously all her lies, manipulations back fired & is branded as HW’s biggest fraud! Just ask Nancy when she allowed her to live with her in NYC and how she repayed her supposed BFF!. She makes me sick!

@Rose:

Here is part one by Nancy, her roommate in NYC spilling the beans about the fraud and needing to be “f*ckable” and stuffing raw chicken breast in her bras. WTF. This is the link to part 1, you can watch the rest by following the link. Rose I will post part 3 as well,my next post OK :)

Brad seems walk just fine, maybe just a little bit knee problem. Brad hurt his leg when making Troy. I wonder it is the same leg.

Nyahaha don’t upset the hen! She cannot handle it when she finds out that Brad and Angie had sex. Remember Brad is not the father of Shi and the twins. Lunatic that they are. And yet they call us LOONS. LOL

I heard that Stumpy had a hair transplant and Ticky a chin removal. Bwahahaha

WGA Award Noms of Limited Value for Forecasting Screenplay Oscar Noms (Analysis)

A short time ago, the Writers Guild of America announced its nominees for the 64th annual WGA Awards, which celebrate the year’s best adapted and original screenplays. The nominees will be feted and the winners announced on February 19 during simultaneous ceremonies on both coasts.

This year’s nominees for best adapted screenplay are: The Descendants (Alexander Payne, Nat Faxon, Jim Rash), The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (Steven Zaillian), The Help (Tate Taylor), Hugo (John Logan), and Moneyball (Steven Zaillian, Aaron Sorkin, Stan Chervin).

And this year’s nominees for best original screenplay are: 50/50 (Will Reiser), Bridesmaids (Annie Mumolo, Kristen Wiig), Midnight in Paris (Woody Allen), Win Win (Tom McCarthy, Joe Tiboni), and Young Adult (Diablo Cody) — all comedies!
While most of the various guilds tend to be the most accurate predictors of what the Academy will nominate in its corresponding categories, that is not the case with the WGA, which has always had quirky eligibility requirements that wind up disqualifying many of the top Oscar-contending screenplays. For instance, because the guild only honors screenplays that were produced by WGA members under WGA guidelines, only 33 adapted screenplays and 55 original screenplays appeared on this year’s WGA ballot, and many of the year’s most celebrated screenplays — both adapted (i.e. Albert Nobbs, Carnage, Drive, Jane Eyre, My Week with Marilyn, Sarah’s Key, The Skin I Live In, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy) and original (i.e. The Artist, Beginners, The Iron Lady, The Lady, Like Crazy, Margin Call, Martha Marcy May Marlene, Melancholia, Rango, A Separation, Shame, Take Shelter) — were not among them.

Consequently, at least one or two WGA nominees — and sometimes more — are booted each year by the Academy in favor of films that the WGA refused to consider. This year will be no exception. With the Academy’s writing branch, The Artist is a slam-dunk lock for an original screenplay nomination (in fact, it will probably win), and Beginners has at least as good a shot as several of the WGA’s selections at scoring a nomination in the category, as well. Additionally, A Separation and Drive are real dark horses to score original and adapted Oscar noms, as well.

So is there anything of substance that we can deduce from today’s WGA nominations? Yes — by looking at which screenplays were on the WGA ballot but still missed.

Most prominent among them is War Horse, which Richard Curtis and Lee Hall adapted from a best-selling novel and acclaimed play. I’m told that WGA members received screeners of the film — unlike The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Hugo, and Moneyball — which makes it absence from the list of nominees an even more noteworthy snub. The bottom line is that the film isn’t doing well with the precursor awards. Yes, it scored a PGA Award nomination, which is important, but the fact that both the Art Directors Guild and now the WGA have both passed on it is not a good sign, since it is the Academy’s below-the-line branches, as opposed to its acting branch, that is likely to provide the majority of the film’s support. I still think it will wind up with a best picture Oscar nomination — Spielberg’s Munich (2005) also failed to click with many of the guilds, including the WGA, but still wound up a best adapted screenplay and best picture Oscar nominee — but it’s not going to be as strong of a threat to The Artist as I thought it might be.

Another film that took a big hit today was The Tree of Life, which Terrence Malick wrote and directed. While some people love the abstract film, which is a meditation on life and the universe that lacks a traditional narrative, others despise it. Because best picture Oscar voting rewards extreme passion (a nomination now requires only 250 first-place votes), it remains possible that the film could still score a nod, but the fact that it has now been passed over by both the PGA and WGA is not a good sign.

Among the other eligible screenplays that the WGA took a pass on were Contagion, Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, The Ides of March, J. Edgar, and We Need to Talk About Kevin.

I don’t think it is a serious injury. Brad was spotted driving with Angie after picking up the twins from preschool today.

@Love B&A:Love B&A, thank you so much.

Actually…an MCL tear isn’t nearly as bad as an ACL tear. A torn ACL has ended more than one athlete’s career. Brad seems to be pretty mobile, so IF that’s what really happened it’s probably just a strain. I’ve torn my MCL before and wasn’t allowed to put pressure on the leg for 2 weeks so I doubt Brad’s torn anything. I sure as hell wasn’t allowed to DRIVE. No offense to Jared’s “source” but I ain’t buying a torn MCL…

So x17 has pictures of Brad and Angie picking up the twins.. so cute.

Brad and Angie have had a lot of time on their hands. hopefully Mommy and Daddy time. I’m sure Brad has been working up a sweat.. and not on just his bike.

I’m sure Pappa Pitt will be well taken care of by Mamma Pitt.

LOL at the trolls and their crazy.. good you look like idiots yet again.

popsugar has more pictures. Brad seems to be in very good mood. It doesn’t appear to me is MCL tear either.

BIG FAT LIAR @ 01/05/2012 at 5:51 pm

Awww poor troll. You are mad cause Brad and 30 other men dumped Ticky “Miss I paid for the hottest woman of all time award”. Too bad, so sad. Boohoo. Oh by the way, EVERY MAN ON THE PLANET wants Angelina to be their WOMAN. So suck on it. No one wants TICKY. She has to buy men now before she can have a relationship with them. Pathetic loser. LOL

Brad grows his beard again. well Angie really lets him do what he wants coz we know Ticky hated Brad’s beard when they were married. Angie is a good wife. But hope Brad cleans up for the awards events.

Trolls are already having a meltdown and it is not even weekend yet. Heads will be exploding come Saturday. Will be watching and LMAO as the loons froth at the mouth.

Its already 2012..New year but same old TROLL. This is getting boring. Either this troll is a nutcase or she is paid to be here to defame Angie and Brad. I think its a little bit of both. Anuston’s fans are insane and stalkers just like their idol. I don’t blame them really. haha

Well how come this ladies little short story didn’t go viral like anything about Jolie. It looks to have been posted 2 years ago. It just someway to show that she is a selfish, lying, manipulative little insecure b##tch.
No wonder she hates Angie so, she knows she looks better than she does.
To have her friend fired is so wrong. Just totally wrong and mean. But little Miss America’s Sweetheart is so loving,caring, and nice.
I bet when Brad finally saw how crazy this woman was he wanted to shoot himself. I really think he took all he could take.
Hell I feel sorry for his azz now for having to live with that insecure, crazy, self absorded idiot for as long as he did.
SHe hates Angie because she is Beautiful inside and out.

Just a Lurker @ 01/05/2012 at 6:30 pm

@Passing Through:

so the MCL is not as bad as an ACL? i see.

now u mention it, i do remember sports shows saying an ACL is a career- killer, but MCL’s are not as bad.

hopefully brad will be able to ditch the cane in a week, maybe even a few days if he heals well :)

still mad? @ 01/05/2012 at 6:37 pm

Wow, the Anustain fans are still bashing Brad after all these years. Why? Still mad this fine man left the ugly one with the big azz chin for the beautiful woman? Can’t get over that huh? Were you dumped the same way? Love it you hate him so. Just means you’re still not over the “break up” and that’s freaking hilarious. Picture this … Brad is still bangin Angie and he’s gonna continue to make beautiful babies with her. Hurts, huh?

Yes, a torn ACL is the worst injury to the knee. The most recent athlete to tear his is Adrian Peterson, running back of the Minnesota Vikings. It’s something that requires major surgery to repair because it’s interior to the knee (between the joints and the meniscus) whereas the MCL is on the outer part of the knee. Tiger Woods tore his ACL 2 years ago – and leaving aside his cheating scandal – it’s taken him almost 2 years to finally get healthy. Best case scenario, no complications, it takes a good 12 months surgery, rehab and recovery. Tiger ended up tearing an Achilles tendon trying to come back too soon and that’s why he’s been sucking the last 2 years…and the cheating scandal didn’t help…

http://www.x17online.com/gallery/view_gallery.php?gallery=2012/01/AJolieRIFLESexclu2012_X17&index=1

@Passing Through: As a Steelers fan, I have to say unfortunately AP is *not* the latest athlete to tear his ACL. Our #1 running back, Rashard Mendenhall, tore his in last Sunday’s game, which puts him out for the playoffs and who knows what else.

Torn MCLs, on the other hand, don’t usually knock a player out for more than a few weeks, though sometimes they have to rely on a brace when they return. I can’t tell from the pix, but perhaps BP has a brace on his knee also?

@Lara:
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Sure Angie did it..hahahaha

@Just a Lurker:

so cute.. I saw a video of her with Jessica C. being interviewed and she said something about how Brad doesn’t know it but that he is her boyfriend. She said she was scared of Angie because Angie could take her..

William Bradley&The Jolie @ 01/05/2012 at 8:17 pm

I am surprised that no one has taken note of the fact that no outlet anywhere has mentioned the significance of today’s date. Seven years ago today, William B. shed himself (officially) of Dulliston. Not even Lamey brought it up today. You know, I am beginning to wonder if Brad’s comment about his pretending during the marriage hasn’t had more of an impact than we suspect ( and wasn’t more deliberate than we may suspect). I haven’t seen anymore tab stories about him running back to Dulliston. And once she breaks up with the midget (CB just ran a great blind that points to this already, for what that’s worth), I don’t see how the tabs can having him running back to her without even their stupid readers laughing at them.

When Brad and I went for a motorcycle ride and stopped off at my little cottage in The Hills, I warned Brad that he was being a little too acrobatic, if you know what I mean.

Ladies and gentleman: For the longest I’ve always wanted who started the rumor of Jane Pitt being so crazy about Ticky and favoring Ticky over Angie. I’ve always thought Huvane started the rumor and no one ever anything to deny it. Could someone please enlighten me about this? I’d love to see Jane saying it somewhere in print. We know she’s said she loves Angie and how Angie is a fantastic mom, but where is the “love Ticky” quote. Thanks all.

LOL.. but I don’t think so.. I think Justin has maybe pulled her in a bit. Because everyone knows she should have been photographed on a beach by now. So maybe Justin is going to help stop the fake triangle..
YEA…. Justin.. clapping loudly.

William Bradley&The Jolie @ 01/05/2012 at 9:03 pm

Okay, must apologize. I got the date wrong. So the dumping day was the 7th. There goes a part of my theory; this means blogs (looking at you Lamey) still have tomorrow to make a big deal of this date. Although it may be interesting to see who does mention it and how they try to spin it since the 7th, in this year, is the day that William Bradley Pitt will be taking his beloved, The Jolie, with him to Palm Spring to get his award. SHE will be by his side throughout this award season and not that hag he dumped. All throughout January and February the hag’s hens will be constantly reminded that Dulliston is still the Sad Spook, forever on the outside looking in.

Well it started with the VF interview, where Ticky says Brad and I are not speaking but I am in constant contact with Jane. That Jane Pitt, oh I love her soo and she loves me. Also, just before the mag came out Jane and Julie visited her in Chicago and of course she made sure they got a pic of that.
-
Going back further, when people-tab was doing their many stories of her just after the split, they made sure to let us know that the Pitts supposedly gave her a ring with P on it. And of course JPitt visited her in 2007. There were never any pics of AJ and Jane together so the idiot tab world, no pics of Jane and AJ meant that Jane hated AJ and loved Ticky more.

@QQQQ:
hopefully ticky will look for a mama;s love from baldy boy toy’s mum because the pitts cannot be played by her and huvane their game has been up years ago and she hates her mama

Love B and A: thank you for the interview with TFT’s old room mate. What an eye opener. Shows her lack of loyalty and shallowness right from the start.

Injury from fight with Angie because she is mad that “Blood and Honey” only made like 80,000 dollars so she hit him. Sad. Maddox looks like old man.

lmao at the trolls thinking that men’s magazine poll was an “honor”. It made Ticky more of a laughing stock than she normally is. I wouldn’t have wanted Angelina to have that “honor”, even though she’s a million times hotter than Aniston; to have the title of hottest of all time beating out Marilyn Monroe ,Raquel W, Elizabeth T.,Rita H.,Jayne M., etc. sets you up for criticism and debate.For Aniston to have “won”, it makes you wonder how many drugs were the editors of the magazine on, how much money did Ticky’s publicist pay to buy this “honor”, and just how much more delusional can Ticky’s fans possibly get!?. lol Ticky isn’t the hottest of her own time much less of ALL time. Too funny!

Cost of being name sexist/hottest = a good pr guy 15%
Cost of a good chin and nose job = 20,0000
Cost of a boyfriend = gf pays for everything and CAA get bf scripts to people that matter
Cost of being intelligent, interesting person, and living a full life = priceless (Maybe Ticky should try it )
.
Congrats to Ticky. I doubt anyone will care about that when they look back at life achievements.

Mouth-watering decadence at Golden Globes

It is hardly surprising that the “champagne of success and glamour” will be flowing once again when the Golden Globe Awards are held on January 15.

For the past 21 years, Moet & Chandon – one of the world’s most prestigious champagne producers – has provided the bubbly for guests at the awards ceremony that recognises creative achievements in film and TV.

Celebrities including George Clooney, Brad Pitt and Meryl Streep are expected to be among the 1500 guests celebrating the big event at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.

“More than 1000 mini bottles and 500 magnums of Grand Vintage 2002 Moet & Chandon champagne – more than 9000 glasses – will be served on the red carpet and inside the ballroom,” said the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, the non-profit organisation behind the awards.

The champagne, which sells at a retail price of $83 a bottle in the United States, has been praised by Moet & Chandon Chef de Cave Benoit Gouez – the man who made it.

“Moet & Chandon Grand Vintage 2002 comes from an exceptional year, certainly the best vintage in champagne since 95-96. The climate has been perfect,” Mr Gouez said.

“Maturity is a key word for this wine; harmony is the second one – harmony across the three vitals.

“It is rare in champagne when chardonnay, pinot noir and pinot meunier perform equally well across the regions and across the villages.”

But a celebration of such extravagance would not be complete without dishes of decadence.

Beverly Hilton Hotel chefs have spent several months planning the food for the Golden Globes.

“Executive chefs Suki Sugiura and pastry chef Thomas Henzi have created an elegant and mouth-watering menu reflecting the global nature of the Golden Globes and it will take a team of 40 chefs and 110 kitchen staff members to prepare it on show day,” the Hollywood Foreign Press Association said.

“Chef Sugiura has combined local produce with an ensemble of cuisines from around the world to create a globally harmonised menu.

“It will include an appetiser of pistachio-crusted pistou ravioli with wild arugula, smoked tomato, kabocha compote and burrata; a combination entree of miso and sake lees marinated pacific sea bass with grilled king oyster mushroom and braised prime short rib of beef with porcini pine nut herb ragout in a light cream of sherry wine ginger tamari sauce with roasted fingerling potatoes, candy striped beets, baby bok choy and yellow baby carrots.

“For dessert, Chef Henzi will be serving a trio of chocolate delice almond crunch terrine and acacia honey, caramel and fresh berries, which will pair ideally with the Moet & Chandon Grand Vintage 2002 magnums specially created for the show.”

Oh laran-CHIN, Brad Pitt could be wearing a pink negligee, maniston’s smelly old hair extensions and cookie monster house slippers, and he still wouldn’t be as gut busting hilarious as homely Maniston and her middleaged greasestain of a bald dwarf rent a date:

LOL! PT, you were right to call ss the MOST pathetic woman on the planet. JLo, is not as pathetic. Believe or not, Jlo’s name is known amongst the younger generation – mainly as a singer. Some of her recent songs have been hits.

I must confess that though I’ve noticed the last round of RCs for TGWTDT with Rooney Mara and Daniel, I hadn’t noticed Rachel’s absence!

LOL!

OK, I have a confession to make. I clicked on the link to Foxnews about Dakota fanning’s cosmo cover.
.
So now, I’d like to do a reality check – the article in Foxnews is a joke right? No one seriously thinks that photos of 17 year old Dakota next to article about sex is an issue right?
.

Someone boasting about SS bought and paid for award as the hottest woman of all times. How delusional are trolls. There were thousands of comments about this award and 90% of the people think this was some kind of a joke. Let’s see if Ricky G think so at the GG, I’m guessing RG will address this award. Also I have seen a TV ad promoting the GG and guess who photo is on the promotion with Ricky. You guessed it, it’s our girl Angie, the sexiest woman alive!

I guess the troll forgot that Angie WON ALL the HOTTEST AWARDS when she was in her 20s. Pathetic losers that they are. They think that the award given to Ticky @ 43 was for real, then I conclude that this troll is a nutcase.

Guess what, watching NBC they are talking about that kind of foods will be served at the GG and guess whose pictures are now being shown to advertise the glamour to come. You guessed it, it’s Brad and Angie. I guess they are considered by NBC as the top of the celebrities, I will say no more, that speaks for it self.

Getting my Moneyball DVD on TUESDAY- Brad & Angie on Saturday- yeah!
_____
If you saw Moneyball this weekend, perhaps you walked out of the theater thinking, Wow, that Brad Pitt really is a charming and handsome movie star. Or maybe instead you thought, Huh, Brad Pitt eats a lot in movies. The man does not stop feeding. (Except to throw a chair across the locker room, and then: more food.) Popcorn, Twinkies, Christmas cookies, a cheeseburger — it all ends up in Brad Pitt’s perfect mouth. When Terry Gross asked him about this exact phenomenon, Pitt ascribed the tic to the intensity of the real life Billy Beane, but Ocean’s Eleven aficionados will remember that Brad is chowing down in almost every scene of that movie, too. In fact, he eats in a lot of his movies. And so to prove the Brad Pitt Eating in Movies Theory, Vulture put together a list of every single item of food that Pitt has ever eaten in a movie, ever. Click through for the definitive and basically nutrition-less list.

Sunday is Zahara Jolie-Pitt’s seventh birthday! She’s been growing up so fast surrounded her family, who love to travel. Just in the last year, Zahara’s been around the globe with her siblings sharing exciting days on set, park adventures, boat rides, and so much more. Take a look back at her adorable first seven years, including sweet moments with dad Brad Pitt and mom Angelina Jolie, and fun with brothers and sisters Shiloh, Maddox, Pax, Vivienne, and Knox!

Get original–the ones on here always accusing others of posting under other names are doing that themselves. I don’t have trouble expressing myself and am proud to be Laranjen!

Larenhen you are a bore like your idol the American SweetFART, go away to her site you fraud.

Happy Birthday, Z! @ 01/06/2012 at 11:16 am

I agree with most of these picks, but especially this one (bathrobe-so funny!!):

Tyler Durden, Brad Pitt, Fight Club
Who else could play Durden but Brad Pitt, who gives a wild, macho, untamed performance as the ultimate man’s man, the embodiment of a dude’s id? Pitt comes off as carelessly sexy and intense throughout the film, pulling off a waiter’s tux and a ratty woman’s bathrobe with equal panache.

Buy Fight Club: A Novel from Amazon.com

With all the breakups, it’s nice to see some engagements, too…Drew B seems ok- not a huge fan of her movies, but ET was good. I hope it works (I think this will be her 3rd or 4th marriage), BUT, the coolest thing is her fiance’s job- ART CONSULTANT! I’m not even sure what it is, but it sounds like a super-cool thing to do!! Have a great weekend & Happy Birthday to Zahara!!!!!

For ten years Cinema for Peace supports around the world the struggle for human rights, social justice, humanitarian and environmental protection through films. Many of these projects are funded by donations to the Cinema for Peace Gala, which is now one of the most important film gala events in the world and has found among other offshoots in New York City and Los Angeles.
.
The gala in Berlin with about 600 guests each year is the highlight. In the past ten years over three million euros have been collected for charitable purposes. In 2011, the actor and activist Sean Penn was honored for his excellent involvement in Haiti. A year earlier, the “Green Oscar” was awarded to Leonardo DiCaprio and former President Mikhail Gorbachev.
.
The focus of this year’s Cinema for Peace Gala are especially Bosnia and Burma: That was the message in the film “In the Land of Blood and Honey” which is the directorial debut of Angelina Jolie, excellent for the struggle against war and genocide in particular. Bosnia is also a focus of the foundation work of the Cinema for Peace Foundation, which opened in November 2011 an office in Sarajevo in Bosnia-Herzegovina. This is mainly concerned with the investigation of the genocide in Srebrenica in 1995. As part of Documentation, 10,000 interviews with witnesses and survivors are led to the massacre extensively present. Then the interviews in an online library will be made available. They form the basis for a documentary. Students, scientists and non-government organizations will give you an extensive insight and background on the events of the massacre in Srebrenica during the war in former Yugoslavia.

The Jury of the Cinema for Peace 2012, under the chairmanship of former Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and Nobel Peace Prize (2005) Mohammed el-Baradei will award the “Cinema for Peace Award for the Most Valuable Movie of the Year” at Gala presented by Sir Bob Geldof.
.
The “International Human Rights Film Award” goes to the 2012 human rights activist and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Aung San Suu Kyi and the movie “The Lady” by Luc Besson, starring Michelle Yeoh in the lead role. The prize is awarded jointly by Amnesty International, Cinema for Peace and Human Rights Film Network awarded.
.
The Cinema for Peace Gala will be held on 13 February 2012 at the Konzerthaus am Gendarmenmarkt in Berlin under the auspices of the Fourteenth Dalai Lama. Special guests at the gala at the Konzerthaus Berlin in addition to the Angelina Jolie are Madame Catherine Deneuve, who was ten years first event was hosted by the Cinema for Peace Gala, and Sir Christopher Lee, Luis Moreno Ocampo, Council of Europe Goodwill Ambassador Bianca Jagger, and the German actor Katja Riemann, Jan Josef Liefers, Anna Loos, and many other renowned personalities expected.

‘Moneyball’ Scores in BAFTA’s Film Awards’ Longlist
By Stuart Kemp

January 6, 2012

Photo by Sony Pictures

LONDON – The Brad Pitt-starrer “Moneyball” has fared well in the first round of voting ahead of this year’s British Academy of Film and Television Arts’ film awards.

The baseball drama secured berths in major categories including best film, best director, best adapted screenplay and leading actor for Pitt when the longlist for this year’s British Academy Film Awards published Friday.

Pitt is up against a heavyweight list to secure a best actor nomination berth with Ryan Gosling featuring twice in the list for turns in both “Drive” and “The Ides of March.”

Also challenging is Antonio Banderas (“The Skin I Live In”), Brendan Gleeson (“The Guard”), Daniel Craig (“The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo”), Eddie Redmayne (“My Week with Marilyn”), Gary Oldman (“Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy”), George Clooney (“The Descendants”), Jean Dujardin (“The Artist”), Leonardo DiCaprio (“J. Edgar”), Michael Fassbender (“Shame”), Owen Wilson (“Midnight in Paris”), Peter Mullan (“Tyrannosaur”) and Ralph Fiennes (“Coriolanus”).

The longlist of best film entrants sports documentary “Senna” alongside “The Artist,” “The Descendants,” “Drive,” “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo,” “The Help,” “Hugo,” “The Ides of March,” “The Iron Lady,” “Midnight in Paris,” “Moneyball,” “My Week with Marilyn,” “Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy,” “War Horse” and “We Need to Talk About Kevin.”

The longlist is the result of a first round of voting by the 6300 strong Academy members that places the top 15 films in each major category.

Best documentary, film not in the English language and outstanding British film lists are voted for by membership chapters.

A second round of voting will cut the number of films to five in each category to be announced Jan. 17 as nominations.

Following a third vote, the winners will be announced on Feb. 12 at the Orange British Academy Film Awards.

@QQQQ:

Good read, thanks for the article!

Thank you for posting this audio link to Angie’s interview. I really enjoyed it, so I will repost it just in case some fans missed listening to lovely Angie talking about ITLOBAH.

You don’t get much more famous than Angelina Jolie. The acting roles that made her famous (the troubled teen in Girl Interrupted, the ass-kicking archeologist in Tomb Raider) have long been overshadowed by her personal life – the endless stream of chatter about her six children with Brad Pitt.

But Jolie’s latest project found her behind the camera. In the Land of Blood and Honey is her directing and screenwriting debut. Set in the former Yugoslavia during the civil war of the 1990s, it follows a love story between a Bosnian Serb soldier and his Muslim prisoner. The film is violent, political, and it’s performed in Serbo-Croatian by a local cast. “I was so excited as an artist to work with other artists from former Yugoslovia,” Jolie says. “What could we learn from each other?”

Some of the scenes of violence — particularly sexual violence — hit close to home for the actors playing the scenes. “They’re screaming and yelling at the women and pulling their coats off. As soon as we’d call cut, they’d put their coats back on them, they’d apologize,” Jolie remembers. “They were very uncomfortable. [But] the reason they played that is to show the violence against women.”

“I love being behind the camera,” she says. But it was hard for her kids to take in. “They came to set and they said, ‘Why does it say director on your door?’ I didn’t even have an answer.”

Jen Crowned Best @ 01/05/2012 at 10:15 pm
-
She got a crown? Huh! I just thought that was one of her weaves gone bad.
-
Before I go bragging about this questionable honor, I’d consider the source. The backlash from this farce was epic. As if she weren’t enough of a laughingstock, this obvious publicity stunt, has cemented her title as the all time pathetic celebrity.
-
I, frankly, don’t know how she can still hold her head up; she’s just one pitiful glutton for punishment. You know what kind of people keep humiliating themselves publicly? People who don’t have self-worth; at their core, they don’t like themselves. Her behavior and actions over the past years might be ok when you’re young and ‘finding’ yourself, but for a grown woman, it’s beyond sad.
-
Her clueless fans should know that you don’t listen to what someone says as much as you watch what they do. Actions truly speak louder than words. Her actions still say, “I’m not good enough.” Maybe that was partly her mother’s fault, but she’s had the money, therapy and opportunity to be her own person instead of the wounded little girl who wasn’t pretty. H*ell maybe she should pay me instead of spending obscene amounts of money on psychiatrists over the years.
-
So, when her PR people are paying for superficial ego stroking ‘honors’ and she’s lapping it up like a new born puppy licking at his mama’s teat, you gotta know she’s a desperate woman with an ailing ego.

Directors on directors
Eye on the Oscars: Directors’ Roundup
By
Bartlett Sher on “Moneyball”
Directed by Bennett Miller
No wonder Bennett Miller, Brad Pitt and Jonah Hill wanted to make this movie, because any artist worth a **** wants to make a film that says something like this, that posits that we can change in some basic way, the world. For if you analyze and prove that looking at slugging percentage and similar numbers and applying this info in a certain way, you can undermine the entire payment structure of baseball and overturn an entire structure for an industry, then you can make a revolution. And if that is true, what other new ways of thinking can we use to think differently, and think to change.
And the real bravery of this film can be found in Bennett Miller’s storytelling. It has a genuine modesty, relying on real situations and real people in small rooms that don’t look powerful and expensive, but in these small, carefully designed offices, we see a struggle over what is an old way, and how to make a new one. Brad Pitt’s sly, understated charm and Jonah Hill’s awkward certainty push this change, and the genius cameo of Arliss Howard (for my money one of the great actors in America) show how cleverly “the man” or in this case the head of the Boston Red Sox, appropriates this revolution, and uses the “new idea” in the very cause that reinforces the oppression.
Bennett Miller reminds me of a great conductor, a maestro, who trusts his players and knows how to find nuance and delicacy in this lovely, dark morality tale that tells you something about art and about commerce and about bravery, and I found it an inspirational and cautionary film, not too mention a damn good one.

Diane Paulus on “Kung Fu Panda 2″
Directed by Jennifer Yuh Nelson
I saw “Kung Fu Panda 2″ with my 7-year-old daughter. She was riveted, and I was too. The action sequences are gripping, the sweeping shots of China are lush and atmospheric; and, of course, there is an emotional story about a panda exploring his own identity. Po is a lovable hero — a no-nonsense fighter, but a cuddly bear at the same time. As his voice, Jack Black strikes the perfect tone. Po’s gang of Kung Fu fighters, the Furious Five, are very cool, especially the Tigress. The movie never lags, and the 90 minutes fly by. My daughter insightfully remarked how important it was that Po found his “inner peace.” Director Jennifer Yuh Nelson brings all of these elements together to successfully create a fun, adventure filled action film, which also packs a philosophical punch.

OMG just saw where Johnny an Vanessa may be splitsville–always thought of Johnny as the male version of Anj-won’t be long till they get together after she tells Brad and his onesie adios. We all saw Brads silly nonstop grin on the movie set this summer around the assistant.
Midlife crisis? Goodbye Brad …go be Ashton cause Jen doesn’t want you back either !

Just Asking @ 01/06/2012 at 1:22 pm

What time does the red carpet start tomorrow? I wanna be at home in time for the red carpet.

Jen doesn’t want Brad back? Please! She’d sell her mother, Dolly, her ACC, throw Justin under the bus to get Brad, Plan B and his Triple A-list status back into her life.

@Laranjen:
Why would Angie want a guy just like her? If she did, she’d hook up with Colin Farrell when they both were single. What an Idiot you are.

There was a rumor about Johnny Depp and Amber Heard when shooting Rum Diary. So we will see.

Depp has been acting strange lately, drunk in public, his comment about The Rum Diary’s failure and voiding tax. Something isn’t right in his life. He also co-financed Hugo, it is reported Hugo’s budget $175 million, apparently its box office is very disappointing.comparing to its giant budget.

There is a delusional person here who believe Angie would have anything romantic to do with drunking JD. JD is falling down drunk in the streets. His body guard is always holding him up to preventing from falling. When will you get it in your head Brad will not be going back to SS. Why don’t you recommend JD for SS.

@well:

agree, something is goingon with Depp and I am sure Rum Diaries of epic fail added salt to the wound regarding whatever is bothering him. He has had so many public episodes of not so “normal” behavior, this will not shock me one bit! All these various apperances jamming with bands, being rip roaring drunk, never being seen with VP at any RC event let alone as a family. I think somethings is off, I hope for the kids sakes they will resolve it. To say I am shocked would be a big fat lie because I was around when JD was a complete **** & was happy to see him straighten up with VP.
Now here comes the dang-on “double standard” again. IF all these telltale signs were smacking the tabloids right across their faces for going on 2 years,ie. not ever spending time together, never attending RC’s, premieres together, never spending time in the same country let alone in the same city…IF, that were the JP’s this would have been CNN news years ago. I honestly thought when JD came out of that bar and kissed the pavement, when it was obvious he was drunk, the tabloids would be all over it. Nope, they reverted right back in a week back to their “fiction” news about the JP’s.
Goes to show you who is the one & ONLY REAL HW Royalty couple!

In this interview, Again Angie said she and Brad put their money in Blood and Honey.

Angelina Jolie: Taking a new role in the director’s chair with In the Land of Blood and Honey

Stars as big as Angelina Jolie don’t do telephone interviews with journalists — they don’t have to. So a phone conversation with Jolie — one of dozens she is doing with press around the world to talk about her directing debut with the drama In the Land of Blood and Honey — is akin to having Helen Mirren fill your order at the drive-thru.

But here’s Jolie on the phone, after several last-minute cancellations. It’s the end of the day and she sounds tired, but it demonstrates how passionate the 36-year-old actress is about the film she both wrote and directed about a Bosnian Serb soldier Danijel (Goran Kostic) and Muslim artist Ajla (Zana Marjanovic) who find themselves on opposite sides of the conflict in the Bosnian War in 1992. It opens here Jan. 20.

She is doggedly promoting In the Land of Blood and Honey not because she’s fulfilling a studio-mandated publicity contract, but because it means so much to her that people see it and learn from the experience.

“I never considered myself a writer or anything,” said Jolie, a United Nations Goodwill Ambassador who has been on field missions around the world, including Bosnia. She wrote the story in her journal as a kind of “homework” to learn about the area.

“I’d been travelling over two years going to and from conferences, seeing how society is damaged by war and lack of intervention, how people can cave to just how society is broken,” Jolie said. “I write sometimes in journals. I just decided to do it in different form, but it was going to be private. This would be good for me to have an excuse to finally understand what happened during the Bosnian war because I was 17 when it happened.”

The script explores the violence of war from women’s perspective, following Ajla and other captives in a female prison, most of whom are sexually brutalized by their captors. One of the guards, Danijel, was in a relationship with Ajla before the conflict and now she has been imprisoned and they must live in a new reality that changes everything between them.

Jolie’s spouse, Brad Pitt, was the one who convinced her to take her writing public.

“Brad had read it one day and said, ‘It’s kind of good,’” said Jolie, adding she thought the idea of making a movie from the story was crazy.

“I’m not a writer, but let’s send it to people from all sides of the conflict without my name on it and get a response,” Jolie suggested. “And if by some miracle, people are willing to do it and we can pull together people from this region and get them to help us to understand the (nature) of this conflict, it would be an extraordinary life lesson and I’d be compelled to do it.”

Funding was problematic, so Jolie and Pitt put up a large chunk of money toward the rumoured $13 million budget. She explained doing so and signing on as director gave her control of the movie and allowed her to use actors from the former Yugoslavia who had lived through the war, as well as being able to shoot two versions of the film: in English and in Bosnian-Croatian-Serbian (BSN).

“I was happy to be that person only because I wanted to spend my money that way and I believed in the story with this kind of tone,” Jolie explained.

The film has faced controversy. Early on, there were erroneous reports it was the story of a Muslim woman who falls in love with her Serb rapist in a prison camp, which almost killed the project when female victims of war protested. More recently, writer James J. Braddock accused Jolie of plagiarizing his 2007 book The Soul Shattering. She has denied the claim.

“Like I said, it happens a lot,” Jolie said patiently, referring to claims of plagiarism, the weariness about having to answer the question for the hundredth time barely masked. “People like to report it.”

Jolie steers the conversation back to the movie. She talks about the difficulty of working in another language when shooting in BSN. “It was really hard. But they were so prepared. I’d never known actors that prepared.” She also comes back repeatedly to the sense of stewardship she felt over the project. It was more than just a movie for her actors and Jolie respected that, feeling the pressure to get it right as she moved through the final editing process.

“You hope that you make the movie that everybody will have put their faith in,” she said.
cont->

“For them, it’s not just a film. For them, it’s something personal, it’s something at home for them; they’re still living it.” Jolie added. “There’s still hate, there’s still so much to recover from. There’s still so many fresh wounds in (their) own home.”

Jolie is less concerned with the commercial potential for the film than she is with its ability to educate and inform. And she’s not convinced she’ll direct again unless the script has meaning for her and a message for viewers.

“It’s all so new for me. I loved the experience, but I don’t know,” she said. “I think (if) I’m driven that will mean something to me, and more than just the craft of filmmaking. So that if that shows itself, then I might try. But right now, I still don’t understand how I ended up doing one,” she concluded with a chuckle.

I can’t resist observing that Jolie must find it refreshing to talk to a reporter for half an hour and not once be asked about Pitt, her kids, marriage or pregnancy.

“I’m just so used to it now. I find it all fine, but I’m very grateful that (I’m being asked about) what I’ve done,” Jolie allowed, adding she has spoken not just with movie beat writers, but also with reporters who covered the war in Bosnia who shared their stories with her. “I’ve had the most in-depth conversations with journalists that I’ve ever had in my career.

“It’s nice to have something else to focus on that we all know is more important than all these other things.”

Immersed in Movies: Editor Christopher Tellefsen Pitches Moneyball
Awards

by Bill Desowitz | January 6, 2012 | 0 Comments

Christopher Tellefsen

Brad Pitt and Jonah Hill, “Moneyball”
Editing is all about internal rhythms for Christopher Tellefsen, and “Moneyball” fit like a glove. On the surface, it’s a David & Goliath sports movie. But it’s really about the struggle against conventional wisdom for the fast talking and even quicker thinking Oakland A’s general manager Billy Beane. Similarly, “Moneyball” is a studio film with a major star (Brad Pitt), but it’s really a throwback to the 70s with its anti-establishment vibe. You could just imagine Sydney Pollack directing Robert Redford.

“It’s about sticking to your dream against all odds,” Tellefsen suggests. “Here’s this guy, Billy, chewing tobacco in ugly clothes and it’s totally not Brad Pitt.”

Indeed, “Moneyball” reminds us that baseball is as much about psychology as poetry. Beane blew it as a player because he lacked confidence; now he seeks redemption as the ultimate puppet master. With the help of Jonah Hill’s revolutionary computer analysis, Beane slowly transforms his “island of misfit toys” into an unconventional winner.

“The look, the feel, and the sound are different,” Tellefsen concedes. “There are huge sections of silence.” Like “Capote,” though, also directed by Bennett Miller, the key was finding the right tempo. But with a million feet of footage to condense, “Moneyball” was like doing 11 “Capotes.”

“Bennett saw it as a quest,” Tellefsen continues. “Billy was overly praised as a ball player but misunderstood. He was not living the life he should be living and was eaten up by baseball. It owned him from the age of 17 and he failed at it for 15 years. And then he made the decision to become a scout; and then he found his way. Then finding Peter [Hill] was a revelation.

“It’s such a wonderful thing for him to discover what went wrong and to overcome that self-doubt,” Tellefsen says. He points to the old adage, “Many are called, few are chosen,” used in voice-over during one of the flashbacks, as a thematic summation.

“Bennett talks a lot about the philosophy of the piece, even the first time it comes into conception. What are the underpinnings, what is its purpose? And that flows into the mindset of doing it. During shooting, I watch dailies alone and there is very little input from Bennett during the rough cut. He is so caught up on the set.”
Tellefsen typically shows Bennett the rough cut a week after the shoot. And then they sit down and go back to square one. “Finding the flow to tell the outer and inner stories was the biggest challenge,” he asserts. “I was always aware of not stopping the momentum. It was all about showing Billy’s private and public face and the insider aspect of it. You’re in the basement with these guys and feel the bad ventilation. There are some wonderful things that Brad does. In the first game, he’s glad handing and then his face just falls. It’s so indicative that he’s putting on a face and it’s so effective. That’s just before he says to Peter that he can’t watch the games; just text him.”

Tellefsen says another challenge was handling the losing and winning streaks. Like the flashbacks revealing Beane’s agonizing career as a player, they were written in documentary fashion. The filmmakers then discovered a treasure trove of archival footage, which allowed them to reshape the commentary around the footage. “Even during the winning streak, he’s questing, too. He just can’t accept the winning. And that brings us to the long trade sequence where Billy and Peter are frantically negotiating on the phone.”

By contrast, when the apprentice is forced by Beane to cut a player, it’s a turning point in overcoming his self-doubt. “It’s done in one cut and is spectacularly intense,” Tellefsen asserts.

One of the emotional highlights, however, is watching Beane bond with his teenage daughter, the only woman in his life. She keeps him grounded and emotionally connected, enabling him to slowly crawl out of his shell and interact with his players during their record-breaking 20-game winning streak.

Meanwhile, Tellefsen refers to the early confrontations with the talent scouts (many of whom were played by actual scouts) as a mini-movie. They were rewritten the day before or improvised on the spot. Bennett, true to form as a documentarian, just let them run with it.

“Moneyball” is fundamentally about the difficulty of adapting to change and learning to survive with less — an apt metaphor for our times. “It’s a beautiful portrait of a person and Brad got deeply into it. He gave us an enormous amount to work with and lots of variation. It’s such an unconventional film.”

In any case, we’re starting to enter the endgame. Oscar nominations are just over two weeks away, with the DGA being the last major group to announce on Monday, while the Critics Choice and Golden Globes ceremonies are creeping up, marking the progression from wondering who’ll be nominated, to wondering who’ll actually win. We’ll be back again next week, and with ballots out, and nominations due soon, we’ll be highlighting a few folk who’ve undeservedly fallen out of the conversation of late. If you have your favorites, comment below.

1. “The Artist” (1)
Not doing great guns at the box office, but it doesn’t matter; the film’s been taken to the hearts of Hollywood types. And, well, pretty much everyone else. If only we could find a way to get Uggie nominated.
2. “The Descendants” (2)
A pretty giant hit, closing on $50 million despite never having gone over 1000 theaters. Should top “Up in the Air,” but doesn’t necessarily stand any more chance at Best Picture, even if it seems to be the less sentimental alternative for some voters to “The Artist.”
3.”The Help” (5)
Looking stronger and stronger as more and more films fall off, and it’ll be by far the top grosser among the nominees, it’s certainly locked in at this point, but it would take a real upset for it to beat out “The Artist,” although some might think it more ‘significant’ than others films on the list. Like Stanley Kramer’s ghost.
4. “Hugo” (3)
The box office was always going to be the question here, and it’s not been great, but not totally embarassing, so the film hasn’t been derailed. Indeed, Marty could be a real threat for Best Director; we have a feeling there could be a split in the category this year.
5. “War Horse” (4)
Box office is ok, but keeps being snubbed by things like the WGA and the Art Director’s Guild. Should be fine for a nod, but looking unlikely to be the competition for “The Artist” that it once seemed.
6. “Moneyball” (6)
The thinking person’s choice of a Best Picture nomination, it’s the first one on the list that’s not a mortal lock for a slot, but it’s pretty much there; in fact, we wouldn’t be surprised if it ended up with more first-choice votes than “War Horse” or even “The Help.”
7. “Midnight in Paris” (9)
With Woody looking like a strong possibility for a director slot, this is solidifying its place. Having said that, can you imagine older voters picking this over “THe Artist” for their first-choice slot?
8. “The Tree of Life” (7)
And now we start to get outside those that we think will get nominated, and, away from the critic’s awards excitement, buzz is dropping again on Terrence Malick’s film; missing out with the PGA doesn’t help. But may well have enough fervent supporters for it to make the cut.
9. “Bridesmaids” (-)
Certainly has the momentum behind it, and Universal are pushing aside, but will older Academy voters go for it? We suspect not, but a nomination is, for the first time, possible.
10. “The Ides of March” (10)
A PGA nod is another boost for a film that Harvey Weinstein once labeled as his biggest threat. It’s a film that may gain a lot of second or third places votes; but can it get the 5% of first choices needed?
11. “Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close” (8)
Greeted on release by some truly poisonous reviews, and very few raves, a film we’d once pegged as a frontrunner looks increasingly likely to miss out altogether. But we could have said that about “The Reader” as well, and some Academy audiences have reportedly eaten the film up, so not to be counted out altogether. Let’s see what happens when it goes wider.
12. “The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo” (-)
We suppose PGA and WGA nods keep it alive, but the film wasn’t brilliantly received, and the box office hasn’t set the world alight. If it is nominated, it’s as an apology for “The Social Network” not taking Best Picture last year.
12. “Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy” (11)
Doing gangbusters at the box office (outperforming “The Artist” at the same point in release, among others) but being shut out by the guilds makes this very unlikely to happen, unless the film becomes a total blockbuster when it goes wider this weekend.
13. “My Week With Marilyn” (-)
If the BAFTA long-list shows one thing, it’s that the British crowd, a not insubstantial chunk of Academy membership, are responding to this one. But it’s competing with ‘Tinker’ for those votes, and our guess is that they’ll cancel each other out.
14. “Drive” (15)
Continue to hang around the fringes of the conversation, it’s extremely well-liked, but, let’s face it, is here to make up the numbers.
15. “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Pt. 2″ (14)
A PGA nomination might have given Warners a little hope after all the money they’ve been throwing after this one, but it didn’t happen.

Hope Brad is resting at home, his knee getting better soon. I can’t wait to see him at Palm Springs award gala tomorrow.

hello fans look like ticky may get a razzie,forever miss green was shortlisted for a razzie twice lol

@from JJB:

We JP fans all knew JP’s clunked down a big chunk of money since it was in several interviews when it was mentioned when project was launched even before the filming started. I even saw a G King interview when he mentioned the amount. I am glad you posted this interview since a certain self proclaimed BO queen never believed me & us when we brought it up about a month ago! LOL Thank you :)

Brad Pitt made a double play for ‘Moneyball’

BY GEOFF BOUCHER • Los Angeles Times | Posted: Friday, January 6, 2012 12:00 am

Like a midseason coaching hire for a losing ballclub, director Bennett Miller inherited an uphill battle when he was brought in as the director of a shaky project called “Moneyball,” but he had two key players on his side — and both of them were named Brad Pitt.

With its half-dozen Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild nominations, “Moneyball” is now viewed as a quality contender in the Oscar nomination race, but the sports film with a message was clearly a longshot project when Miller stepped in after the summer 2009 departure of Steven Soderbergh, who had spent years developing the script.

The difference maker was the persistent presence of star and producer Pitt, who was an MVP on both sides of the camera, Miller says.

“You work all day with Brad the actor and there’s that energy, and then we’d wrap at the end of the day and maybe half an hour later we’d get together in this little area outside his trailer and he’d be Brad the producer,” Miller said. “We would look at the next day, just go over things and maybe have a glass of wine. Sometimes, it would be two or three hours of discussing and planning, and it’s pretty exhausting making a movie, but it became this ritual for us. And then early the next morning, Brad the actor is back, being on set and making things happen in a totally different way.”

And now Pitt may be swinging for the fences on Oscar night in the lead actor category. He seems to be a lock for that nomination, considering those early nods he’s already collected for his “Moneyball” work as Billy Beane, the real-life maverick general manager of the Oakland A’s who fought major league resistance to his reliance on traditionally overlooked stats in team-building. Pitt the producer may also hear his name called out in the best picture category if the upstart film makes that final cut.

“Moneyball” looks like a sports film on paper, but on closer inspection it’s a message movie about fighting an entrenched system that doesn’t recognize or reward the true value of people. That’s what drew Pitt to the project — that and his restless need to ‘surprise and challenge” himself by seeking out “passion projects and not doing what’s been done before just because it’s available.”

Pitt assembled an unlikely body of work last year. Besides “Moneyball,” he starred in Terrence Malick’s impressionistic and challenging “The Tree of Life,” a film made far from the crowd-pleasing gravity felt by most Hollywood releases. Pitt also gave voice to an existentially yearning krill (yes, as in whale food) with buddy Matt Damon in the animated film “Happy Feet 2.”

Rounding out the eclectic list, he spent much of the year running from undead extras while filming “World War Z,” an adaptation of the Max Brooks globe-trotting horror novel and the most expensive zombie movie in the history of Hollywood.

“Like I said, I like mixing it up,” Pitt said with a chuckle during an October interview in Hungary on the Budapest set of “World War Z.” “You need to make it interesting for yourself to make it interesting for other people.”

In “World War Z,” due in theaters right before next Christmas, Pitt will play a United Nations fact-finder and family man who desperately races around the globe to determine the origins of a zombie pandemic that has toppled civilization in short order. The film is directed by Marc Forster (“Finding Neverland,” “Quantum of Solace”) and is similar in spirit to September’s “Contagion” (from director Soderbergh and starring Damon) with its geopolitical bent and the aspiration to deliver social messages amid the moans and screams.

For Pitt, the big sci-fi thriller also represents his strongest bid to have a big film franchise of his own, which might be viewed as the missing piece of his career jigsaw puzzle. Forster and Paramount Pictures each view “World War Z” as a trilogy that would have the grounded, gun-metal realism of, say, Damon’s Jason Bourne series tethered to the unsettling end-times vibe of AMC’s “The Walking Dead.”

Time will tell whether audiences embrace that idea. Pitt knows too well that big popcorn plans don’t always pop; he learned that on “Troy,” the sprawling Bronze Age epic in 2004 that cost $175 million to make but earned anemic reviews and pulled in just $133 million in domestic box office (although it did add $350 million in foreign markets).

Ah man…I’m bumming. I missed out on ragging on Ticky lying to VF about being the apple of Jane Pitt’s eye. Of course Ticky didn’t tell VF that when she invited Jane and Julie to visit her in Chicago while she shot TBU that she spent the whole time drunk off her ass whining about Brad and Angie and trying to pump Jane for info. Or that she was such a nuisance Jane and Julie ended the trip early to the hell away from her. Ticky had been completely cut off from Brad’s life for MONTHS and it ws driving her crazy that nobody would tell her what was going on with him – and Angie. Or how about how she told VF that she and Brad weren’t speaking…then a few months later in a Nov interview turned around and told Larry King that “we don’t not speak”…whatever the fvck that means…this was a full month AFTER the divorce was final and she hadn’t spoken to Brad since the Night Before Party way back in late Feb. No sirree, Bob. No one will ever be able to accuse Ticky of full disclosure…

@Passing Through: As a Steelers fan, I have to say unfortunately AP is *not* the latest athlete to tear his ACL. Our #1 running back, Rashard Mendenhall, tore his in last Sunday’s game, which puts him out for the playoffs and who knows what else.
.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++
.
I think they tore them on the same day. I’d forgotten about Mendenhall…but I won’t say that too loudly because 2 of my sisters are life-long diehard Steeler fans and I’ll never hear the end of it. With Nitwit Rothleisberger already injured the Steeler’s chances in Sunday’s game aren’t looking very good.
.
Did you ever see that story about the Steelers fan who died a few years ago and his family honored his burial requests? They had his wake and funeral in their living room with is body dressed in Steelers gear – inluding a #1 styrofoam finger – sitting in his Lazy-Boy recliner…with a taped Steeler Super Bowl game playing. I showed that to one of my sisters and she said, “And? I see nothing wrong with that whatsoever…” I think it gave her ideas…

What a great honor for Angie. BUT…she’s never spawned a nationwide “ugliest haircut ever” fad, so obviously this isn’t anywhere near as impressive…

If anyone wants to read Laimey they will go to her site. The hags are reaching so low to find something. This is a great weekend for Brad and Angie.. Zee has her day on Sunday. and they have a RC on Saturday. So lots to look forward to. Disregard the trolls. Angelina Jolie brought her boys Pax and Maddox along yesterday for an afternoon of shopping in LA. The gang picked up bags full of party supplies, likely for Pax and Maddox’s sister Zahara’s birthday. Pax played with a toy rifle his mom bought inside the shop as well. Zahara Jolie-Pitt turns 7 on Sunday, and we’re celebrating by looking back at 25 of her most adorable photos! Angelina, Pax, and Maddox wrapped up their outing with a stop at McDonald’s. The whole Jolie-Pitt clan will mark Z’s big day in California. Brad will be part of the fun, despite his dealing with a recent leg injury that requires the use of a cane.

The hens doth protest too much. If Ticky’s so effin’ happy, then why do they spend all of their time stalking Brad and Angie? The two of them don’t stalk Ticky and plan their PR based on her comings and goings the way she does, so they should be over at hen central discussing Ticky’s thinning hair due to years of hair extension abuse that they were led to believe was her own hair and her plastic surgery “but not as much as people think” admissions. Ticky just told her fans she’s been lying to them about her “natural look” and here they all sit on the J-P thread screaming about how happy Ticky is with he stolen man and thinning hair…which she’s since been putting in and taking out hair extensions for every event since she cut her hair so her explanation doesn’t float, but don’t tell that to the hens…

There’s a lot of people these days who are totally unaware of JD’s “scandolous” past. It wasn’t that long ago that he had to give up ownership of The Viper Room due to a lawsuit from his former partner over some “misplaced funds”/dodgy accounting/embezzlement. Right around 10 years IIRC. People see Captain Jack Sparrow and the Mad Hatter and no nothing about River Phoenix’s death, fighting with Kate Moss and wrecking hotel rooms, drunken brawls with Winona Ryder, etc. And of course none of that shite gets dragged up in his interviews the way Angie’s past is always brought up in her’s. So she wore her husband’s blood around her neck, used her own blood to write a message on a shirt she wore to her wedding, wanted to be a funeral director because of how bad she thought her grandfather’s funeral was, etc. Big whoop. That’s nothing compared to possibly supplying your BFF with the smack that killed him, physical fights with your girlfriends and as good as admitting to embezzlement. But Depp gets a pass and Angie’s still treated like an oddity.

Someone had hardcore sexytime last night !

@Passing Through:

Finally, you give me hope that I am not alone for not being shocked regarding the not confirmed Depp &VP gossip.
Now I don’t mean to be a hypocrite by thinking of his past since we ALL know people can grow up and change, but somehow Depp’s recent actions make me believe he might have taken a step backwards in the wrong direction. For the sake of their 14 year long relationship & their gorgeous kids I hope we are all wrong & this is all usual gossip from tabs, but I have my doubts.

Disney Sets Robert Stromberg To Helm ‘Maleficent’
By MIKE FLEMING | Friday January 6, 2012 @ 5:05pm EST
Tags: Angelina Jolie, Linda Woolverton, Maleficent, Robert Stromberg

Comments (3)

EXCLUSIVE: Disney has tapped Robert Stromberg to make his feature directorial debut on Maleficent, the Linda Woolverton-scripted revisionist take on the Sleeping Beauty fairy tale that is being constructed as a star vehicle for Angelina Jolie to play the villainess. While Stromberg is new to the director’s chair, he is no stranger to dealing with big-ticket spectacle films. He has been production designer on Avatar and Alice In Wonderland, and Disney’s upcoming Oz The Great And Powerful. He also worked on visual effects for such films as 2012, Pirates Of The Caribbean: At World’s End and Master And Commander. Joe Roth is producing.

This gives Disney feature heads Sean Bailey and Rich Ross another tentpole feature to complement the Marvel product, with A-list talent. Maleficent stacks up alongside Oz The Great And Powerful, and the Johnny Depp-starrer The Lone Ranger. Stromberg’s repped by UTA.

@Love B&A:

Angelina Jolie is ‘In the Land of Blood and Honey’ in Directorial Debut
Submitted by PatrickMcD on January 6, 2012 – 8:59am.

CHICAGO – The sorrows of war has been played out too many times in our so-called modern age. The excessively cruel Bosnian war – a three year conflict that introduced the vile term “ethnic cleansing” – is the background of Angelina Jolie’s directorial debut, “In the Land of Blood and Honey.”

The Bosnian War began in 1992 and in three short years displaced two million people and killed over 100,000 more. The Serbian army was especially cruel to the Muslim population, and Jolie symbolizes this by showing a split between a Serb and Muslim who were lovers before the war. The camera doesn’t blink in this film, as rape, murder and abject human atrocities are played out in a war that was a useless, ideological waste of time. Jolie works from her own very literate script, exposing a horror that happened a relatively short time ago.

Danijel (Goran Kostic) and Ajla (Zana Marjanovic) are first shown enjoying a evening in a night club in Sarajevo. He is Serbian and she is Muslim, but that has not prevented their attraction to each other. An explosion rocks the scene, and the beginnings of what will be the Bosnian War has symbolically begun. Danijel is called into military service, since his father is General Nebojsa Vukojevich (Rade Serbedzija), who leads the ethnic cleansing of all religious and non-Serbian nationalities from Sarajevo.

Danijel and Ajla meet again in the midst of this action, as the troops he commands flushes out the apartment building that she and her sister Lejla (Vanesa Glodjo) reside in. The women are rounded up and subjected to intense cruelties, including the violence of rape. Ajla is spared this punishment by essentially becoming Danijel’s property. Their specious relationship somehow grows in this environment, but Ajla’s urge to escape is ever present. Loyalties, allegiances and the very notion of love is distilled and destroyed through a war torn atmosphere.

This is a stunning debut for Jolie, in the sense that there are few punches pulled in the depiction of the cruelty, and although the subject matter is dense and complicated for the ill-informed world outside of the conflict, Jolie manages to make the purpose of these hostilities clear by focusing on the horror of human nature. This is mostly the story of the women caught up in the web of the cleansing, and the willingness for their captors to consider them tools for revenge and heartless brutality.

The acting is top-notch, and because many of the cast are Bosnian Serb, Muslim and Croatian Serb actors, this demonstrates a passion to get the story right through the portrayals. Goran Kostic as Danijel is a stand-out. His connection to Ajla, both before and after the war, stirs an inner conflict within him that leads to a battle within his soul, which the actor effectively communicates. He is stuck in a classic military situation – it is easier for him to join and fight than listen to the better angels of his nature. Zana Marjanovic as Ajla must go through a spectrum of emotions in captivity, yet never shows the cards in her hand. It is an unique give and take in a relationship.

The supporting players are notable as well. Rade Serbedzija as General Vukojevich is the epitome of human blight in war. He lives for his destructive power, and places the same dispensation upon the head of his son. The performance is unforgettable in its chilling ruination. Vanesa Glodjo as Ajla’s sister Lejla gets significant screen time, both within and outside the conflict, and has an unspeakable barbarity inflicted upon her. War is beyond hell, even more than can be imagined.

The story is a bit inflexible, despite following a very apparent timeline. The unpleasantness gets a bit overwhelming, which I’m sure was Jolie’s point. The bottom line is that this “celebrity” and movie star has morphed into a driven political artist through this realm, and provides for our narrow viewpoint a bit of the modern definition of war and remembrance to consider.

We are generally weak and cowardly as human beings. When fighting for the artificial “territories” that we believe we “deserve,” we need the ever-gargantuan weapon equivalents when staking our claim. How proud we are with those killing implements at our disposal, how small we actually are when we use them against our brothers and sisters.

ITLOBAH is still not playing in my area. UGH! I saw Hugo this week, and I loved it. I can’t believe it’s not doing well at the BO. People prefer to see an Adam Sandler movie over a Scorsese movie? It’s so sad.

I’m surprised Ticky didn’t make Huvsy buy the rights to that photo and get it out of circulation. Crikey that woman’s chin is HUMONGOUS! She and Reese Witherspoon need to have a contest – longest chin wins a free chin reduction from Dr. Kanoodia…

Considering that the story came from Radar/Star…the chances of it being true are none and zero. Every relationship goes through ups and downs and if something is going on I can’t see them just throwing in the towel. He works entirely too much though, so maybe that’s one of their problems. I remember seeing an interview with her not long ago where she was talking about they enjoyed NOT being together all the time and they both needed personal space. Hopefully they’ll work it out. I have nothing against Depp, but sometimes he acts like a real butthead. That’s GOT to get old – especially since he’s 48 and ought to be over that crap by now.

Looks like Angie’s been busy since she’s been in LA. There’s no way they hired this guy without her input. Plus, I’m sure Shiloh is happy about this development. LOL! I assume this is live-action? I haven’t heard one way or the other…

I don’t mean to gross anyone out…but…for a long time during The Dark Years I wondered how in the hell Brad managed to kiss her when her nose is huge and her chin is huge. The man must have had one helluva crick in his neck for 4 1/2 years…not a typo…

Seriously though y’all I don’t think Brad will be walking the red carpet tom. And Mary Hart is saying how close Brad and George are because of Oceans and I don’t think so since they were at that Canadian red carpet and were never together.

@FayeFaye:
Clooney will get the Chairman Award for his writing,directing and starring in The Ides of March. Brad will get the Achievement Award for Acting in Moneyball and The Tree of Life. Based on the last four years records, all four actors won Achievement Award for Acting eventually won Oscar Best actors. I am crossing my fingers this is Brad’s year.

I’m surprised Angie’s film isn’t playing here in Washington, DC. Sometimes, DC folks get thrown a bone because of our close proximity to New York and we get the benefit of seeing a film early when New Yorkers first get it. I was sure that would happen with ITLOBAH and was surprised to discover we weren’t going to get it in December. You would think a film about the Bosnian war would have a audience in DC, especially since there is a large Bosnian community here. I just don’t get it.

@lurker:

That is just wonderful news.. So glad that the entities that matter are recognizing her achievement with this films. Sometimes the recognition will come in unexpected ways.So proud of her and Brad.

I will admit I enjoy Brad and George together.. they are funny. George said he has some prank in the works for Brad already. Just cant wait to see them all tomorrow.

@Passing Through:
I agree this is from a tabloid so fans should not believe it because tabloids do the same with brad and angie,i hope they stay together and prove the tab;oids wrong

@fyi:
I wonder who is presenting the award to Brad, maybe Bennet Miller–Moneyball director, or could be David Fincher

Thanks for the great posts, so what’s the deal with the trolls thumbing all the fans posts? I guess this is another preemptive strike before the “Awards Season/Pitt Porn” starts considering both Brad & Angie as usual are nominated for almost every award possible. LMAO!

This must hurt for the haters, but you’d think they’d be used to it after 7 darn years? Maybe they are waiting to hear if Huvane can hustle, bribe, pay off anyone for Ticky to be a presenter. They spent a lot to purchase Squiggy, it would be ashame for all that money to go to waste! LOL

She is an oddity.
-
Angelina is honest. Not when it makes her look good, not for her own gain, not to appease fans, not to get ‘good’ press, not to pull the wool over anyone’s eyes; She is honest because that is an innate part of her being.
-
The press ask her questions, because they know this about her. She doesn’t shy away from the hard questions, whine about the attention to her past or claim to regret anything that she done like it doesn’t represent part of who she is. Others can pretend, but she sees no reason for pretense.
-
Jolie lived her life the way that she wanted, maybe, at times, not understanding what drove her to some of her more self-destructive acts.
But, fortunately enough, she recognized that there were things beyond herself that needed attention. It’s easy to wallow in pity or depression, as some have, it’s altogether admirable to come to the conclusion that you really have little cause to complain, considering the plight of the vast majority of the world’s people. This was her epiphany.
-
She is smart enough to know that her past is what made her the woman she is today. Who can regret that? She didn’t just get fearless, she was always fearless, although, truth to be told, maybe sometimes while shaking in her boots. Being fearless is not the absent of fear, but staying the course even when you’re scared. Taking chances is what fueled her growth and cemented her desire to help others. No matter the choices, she weathered the backlash that resulted without complaint. This is a woman worth knowing.
-
she could have done like others and floated along on her looks, pandering for publicity to boost her ego. The irony is, she is beautiful outside, but it is more than surpassed by her inner beauty. She’s said, many times, that she wants her girls to be smart and their insides stunning. Who can deny that this woman is all that she wants for her children?
-
So an oddity she might be, but in her case I prefer the word rarity, she is real, she is strong, she is compassionate, she is dedicated to helping others rather than wasting her life chasing youth and fame. I don’t know her, it’s true, but I like her immensely. She is so incredibly smart, loving and generous.
-
I know I’m preaching to the Choir, but the word Oddity did strike me as a strange description of a woman who has given so much to so many. It’s strange, not because of your use, but because that is what people who read tabloids and watch tabloids journalism think. But, as her fans, we know her intent, her spirit, by what she has done with her life, we don’t need to guess or read between the lines. She doesn’t just talk the talk , she walks the walk.
-
I know she could and would have travel this road alone, but I’m grateful that with Pitt and her beautiful family , she doesn’t have to.

@lurker:

That’s why I said “double standard”. However JD acting weird, being drunk, hardly ever being with VP & constantly partying unfortunately is not JUST tabloid lies (the tabs reserve that for the JP’s only) There are too many pictures, videos and even interviews of JD’s behavior lately that can not be blamed on tabloids, trust me I hate the tabs but this is thanks to JD and only JD.

Angie is amazing, if I were her I would have slugged that idiot paps. But as usual she is gracious, at least Pax showed them how he felt LOL

@Passing Through:

I totally agree, Angie had to have approved of the director. We know she liked the script, remember the KFP@ LA RC interview, she said she had just read the script & she really liked it. Yep Shiloh has to be on cloud 9. I think all JP kids will love this one too. I have a feeling both Brad & Angie might soon be competing to see which one can make a movie that impresses their kids more. Brad claimed WWZ will earn him big points with the boys. Hello MAMS#2 lmao.

I hope you won’t mind my moving this to the new Angelina Maleficent Thread.

Thanks. No, I don’t mind.

groundcontrol @ 01/07/2012 at 12:41 am

I see there’s a new thread but I’ll post this both here and there.
.
You know I’m a busy person and gossip news is not my profession BUT it took me all of 2 mins to learn that there are a number of other businesses at that same location as the Cristina Radu Spa – like Ed Lowell, the fur shop Angie has shopped at in the past as well as – TA DA and a big fat DUH!! Lerman and Sons Orthopedic Appliances.
.
Ya think maybe Brad was getting something for his leg/knee/whatever. Like maybe, oh, I don’t know, A CANE!
.
if there’s a lazier, more slipshod and just plain dumber profession than these gossip pros – paps, tab writers, gossip columnists – I’m hard pressed to find one. These people are pathetic and should by all rights be punching pictures on a MacDonald’s cash register.
.
And now stupid Lainey and her fake ass website and wannabe connected to celebs obsession has spun an entire fairy tale out of some place Brad probably wasn’t even at. We won’t even discuss the insanity of the other Brad and Angie haters who have conjured up even more moronic gossip based on nothing whatsoever.
.
Now all it takes is a shared parking lot to start rumors. LOL!

GET WELL SOON GORGEOUS!!!

@groundcontrol:

ROTFLMAO! Now that is one great detective work! Yes that was a checkmate to the troll, unfortunately I’m sure it went right above her head.

#189 Love B&A, love the video, it’s fab. It captured all B & A romantic moments which I love seeing. The song is one of my fav too. Thank you for all your hard work in providing us with great news and videos, Keep the good work coming. Thank you again.

Good morning fans, this is going to be a very good day. Hoping for fab pictures.
There is a very cute video on JJB, Pg 1005, time 10:25pm. Showing Paps yelling out to Angie that they love her and Pax yelled back, how dare you. Pax looking out his dad, loved it. This video is from x17, this may be down soon because JJB generally don’t keep up x17 info, they are always asked to take them down.

Re Angie look alike. IMO she is a very pretty girl, however, she looks more like Miley Cyrus. Looking at Angie and her side by side there is hardly any resemblance of Angie as she is now, jmo.

I haven’t seen the movie yet.

Critics are raving about how beautifully the film was made and acted yet they give 2.5/4 stars, perhaps it’s because the movie is so graphic that the critics’ own feelings are translated into their reviews. It’s like when one is so depressed and anxious, everything just seems bad.
I think this movie pulls the watcher and never lets go, making one feel every single emotion the characters feel and eventually leaving the watcher with the grimness of the film’s ending.

I think the director intended to show the violent scenes over and over because repetition makes thing stick in ones mind, that people become conscious of what it is that they never ever would want to happen again. Perhaps Angelina was hoping that with her movie, the people will learn to act against what is to happen, that the people will want to prevent and give aid when necessary.

Watching this movie would require an open mind, and perhaps a higher IQ would help

Angelina looks so pretty. I agree with most that Brad injury does look that bad. Hope he get well soon.
