Kate Bosworth is white hot at the exclusive private screening of her new short films for JewelMint held at a private screening room in Los Angeles on Thursday morning (January 12).

    Lola Says:

It couldn’t hurt this girl to actually put some effort into her hair. Or eat a cheeseburger.

  3. 3
    Jack Says:

Usually I think she’s pretty, but she looks really crappy here.

  4. 4
    Lauren Says:

So is this what she films when she can’t get real jobs? What ugly hipster jewelry.

  5. 5
    Jeannie Says:

    Where’s her ‘life partner’

  6. 6
    speaktruth Says:

I love her outift, shoes and jewelry. Then, there’s the hair that doesn’t match any of it. She could have put in a little more effort with the hair. Something as small as pinning pieces of it back would have made a huge difference and completed this look.

  7. 7
    Where's Polish? Says:

You’d think her “Life Partner” would be at this event considering he filmed it.

  8. 8
    Shiitake Says:

She’s usually criticised for being too thin (true) and consequently looking like a zombie, but honestly, she’s a solid actor (though run of bad movies lately).

  9. 9
    Dieter Says:

HOW BEAUTIFUL IS THAT GIRL !!!!! She will be nominated for Oscar for her straw dogs performance. She is an actress just as good as Maria Bello !!!

  10. 10
    Actually... Says:

Oh shocking. Kate Bosworth looks dazed and a complete mess at a fashion event. (/massive sarcasm)
On another note, many of the comments on JM’s facebook post about the video are pretty good. (There are both positive and negative comments so everyone can enjoy it.)

  11. 11
    ???? Says:

She looks like sh*t for a 29 yr old and why look so grumpy your pic is being taken ? You know u love it And where is boyfriend he should be there 4 support? And no gold ring?
And as her t*ts got bigger since her last pap outing in LA with boyfriend.

  12. 12
She's in her own commerical Says:

This is called an commerical, A commerical, do you know what a short film means, the intake involved?! Stop calling yourself an actress this is just too pathetic. Short film really, really!! It’s very obivious this girl is NOT getting any work. Just like her jooree looks like crap so is she.

  13. 13
    Kerry duggan Says:

I think I Just about see the gold ring on her finger .
so she is obviously still with LIFE BOYFRIEND.

  14. 14
    tissues Says:

I hope she took those tissues out of her bra when she got inside.

  15. 15
    Macy Says:

She obviously has a major padded bra. Her hair looks like crap once again.

  16. 16
    ladybug Says:

Well, apparently she didn’t spend the holidays at the salon. And why does she always seem to stand with her toes pointed in?

  17. 17
She's in her own commerical Says:

    @Where’s Polish?:
Haha so this is what she boils down to her Life partner the big movie director doing her jooree commericals. Hahahaha seriously. I can’t even.

  18. 18
    Actually... Says:

@ladybug: To make her thighs look smaller? Because you know she needs to worry about stuff like that.

  19. 19
    Hanna Says:

Does she have botox in her lips? They look unusual big…

  20. 20
    night owl Says:

Her lips look like they are going to explode.

  21. 21
    ladybug Says:

@Actually…: Heh. Though quite a few other women do that now while posing. It looks idiotic.
“BREAST IMPLANTS!!!!!!!” Possibly not, at the Straw Dogs premiere she also looked like she had suddenly developed breasts and she hadn’t . There are non-surgical tricks to making it look like you have breasts. I don’t like her but I’ve sort of admired that she hadn’t succumbed to having implants.

  22. 22
    chelle Says:

Where did the boobs come from?

  23. 23
    summer Says:

    gurl, wash your hair.

  24. 24
    JEN Says:

Where are all the celebrity guests if this is such a “chic breakfast event”?This looks like they got dressed. threw on their crap joolree, ordered room service (crackers and water) and then popped the commercial into the dvd player so Kate could fawn over what an AMAZING ~model~ she is!

This broad is such a joke. Time to retire Kate and find a real job. Goodwill is always hiring, and if you dig hard enough you can find some slightly used designer duds.

  25. 25
    emmaa Says:

Like her or not, girl knows how to dress.

  26. 26
    Macy Says:

Where is everybody? Naturally there aren’t any photos of any other guests. Did anyone even go besides Cher and her parents? There isn’t even a photo of them for pete’s sake.

  27. 27
    Macy Says:

Wow, I just watched that video. Her hair looks like straw in it, especially the last 6 inches or so. Brutal! I love how the one necklace she takes off and hangs has an achor on it. Nice homage Bosworth. *rolls eyes*

  28. 28
    Torii Says:

I just threw up a little in my mouth. Geez, could this woman look any worse? Those lips, the botox, the stringy hair! Go homeand sleep it off

  29. 29
    longchamp Says:

    loooove the nude shoes

  30. 30
    ladybug Says:

@Macy: At least with this ‘short film’ you could tell what product was being sold. As opposed to the Vanessa Bruno ‘short film’ which was nonsensical.
And apparently Kate wants her hair to look terrible, it’s fashionable.

  31. 31
    commonsense Says:

JJ if it was such an “exclusive private” breakfast event you would be name-dropping celeb names all over the place and you know it!

  32. 32
    Eresyn Says:

Her feet look idiotic,( why on Earth can’t she stand normal?) her hair is a mess (and she has a hair stylist LOL), her bra is too obvious and wtf …a “short film”???? that’s obviously just a commercial LOLOL ;)

  33. 33
    Macy Says:

Well you know, haute couture doesn’t need to make sense. Cheap crap however….
Straw like, damaged hair is never fahsionable. I don’t care who you are. It looks terrible. Have bed head all you want, but at least keep it healthy.

  34. 34
    Eresyn Says:

I think she really thinks letting her hair go like that ,gives her a carefree, modern look, even more volume…but it’s a big FAIL…nothing can hide the fact that she’s got horrible hair, probably due to lack of nutrients and bleaching it non-stop…

  35. 35
    Broadway Baby Says:

My mom & I saw her shopping at Barney’s the other week. I gasped in horror at how painfully thin she is. Hollyweird needs to stop kissing her a$$ and be real (ha). Clothing hanging off bones is not pretty, or beautiful, it’s scary & sending the wrong message to kids & people suffering with eating disorders.

  36. 36
    ladybug Says:

@commonsense: Not even anyone from the other Mint companies.

  37. 37

Comb your hair and eat something girl!

  38. 38
    Anorexic Says:

in the vid she looks like she has a eatting disorder…sad

  39. 39
    chelle Says:

@ladybug: I have always wanted a pursue that can double as a necklace or bracelet ….WTF?

  40. 40
    Macy Says:

LOL I know, that’s what I though. It’s totally stupid.

  41. 41
    kathy Says:

she needs to gain some weight and fix her hair. How in the world did this girl become a “fashion icon” ? Geez

  42. 42
    Shannon Says:

    At least she’s not singing.

She looks painfully thin in the commercial. I think I saw every bone.

God, her hair. She needs to cut it all off & keep it short to make it look fuller. Scrunching it up doesn’t cover up the fact that you’re hair is thinning.

  43. 43
    ladybug Says:

@Shannon: I wonder when this was filmed-you can’t really see her chest bones in this one but then again there seemed to be an attempt to not show that area close up.
What was the purpose of the breakfast? Was it an investor-type breakfast and hence no celebs? Or was this a daytime replay of her Nylon cover dinner, in that perhaps some celebs were invited but no one showed up?

  44. 44
    raf Says:

@Dieter: hahahahahahaha!!Oscar???this is the best joke ever!!!

  45. 45
    AbFab Says:

You know she’s way too thin when she uses what appears to be a necklace as a belt. Love the gold purse in these pics.

  46. 46
    donnadew Says:

Here she is again, dirty, drugged and badly dressed. How come Jessica Simpson made so much money on fashion and this little rag can’t even sell a couple of cheap necklaces? Something’s going on here that I don’t understand.

  47. 47
    bonita Says:

I think the commercial is fantastic! Usually films for products sold online look like infomercials but this one is much more creative. Her necklace is great and I like the purse a lot.

  48. 48
    Reviews Says:

    I love the video!

  49. 49
    little m Says:

i don’t know why many of you want her to do sth with her hair – you don’t understand? she DID, and it was probably expensive stylist. And her hair look like that. Just think how she looks when she get up in the morning… I’m truly sorry for her.

  50. 50
    Kerry duggan Says:

What I want to know is how the hell does this girl get boyfriends what favours is she offering them to date her so desperately?

Also how very creative kate , a cheap chain strap that turns into necklace or bracelet now I know what to ask for 2012 Xmas. Lol (rolls eyes)

  51. 51
    Actually.. Says:

@ladybug: Maybe it was like a press junket? There were some fashion bloggers there (the ones that already say positive things about her). Although I would think they probably wanted celebrities to show up and that’s just what they got because releasing pictures from a small press conference just seems odd.

  52. 52
    Fame Game Says:

There will be a series of videos. Kate and Michael also filmed some in Paris and Morocco. Love how she managed to not only get her boyfriend the gig, but also got two romantic getaways thrown in free too.

  53. 53
    ladybug Says:

@Actually..: Thank you, press junket is really what I was looking for. Though it doesn’t sound as highbrow as ‘exclusive private screening’ and ‘chic breakfast event’.
    From Fame Game’s link:
The series features acclaimed screen star Kate Bosworth …. “With the visionary filmmaker Michael Polish …”
Acclaimed? KB? Hah! And while Polish is a pretty well respected director, I don’t think that I’ve seen the word visionary used to described his works before. Kate keeps using that word to describe him. I don’t think that word means what she thinks it means.
“… People have a natural tendency to follow authority figures, trendsetters and tastemakers and its that social commerce rule of thumb (heuristic) that Beachmint banks on to ensure its success. Having a silver screen diva as the centerpiece of this new film series doesn’t hurt either…”
    Silver screen diva?!

  54. 54
    Jeannie Says:

Haha!!! Acclaimed fameho maybe. Not actress though. :)

  55. 55
    Fame Game Says:

There were actually 2 links posted on my first post, but one didn’t show up. This is an article were Kate talks about shooting in Paris and Morroco with MP. That’s an awfully expensive location for a commercial.

  56. 56
    ladybug Says:

@Fame Game: “because January really is split into two parts for me — one half is New Year’s, and the other awards.” Awards? Doesn’t she mean the parties for the awards shows, since she doesn’t get nominated for awards.
I don’t read the fashion blogs, but I’m presuming they selected the bloggers that are most likely to be over the top in their praise for her? Because the two that you linked are totally doing the a**-kissing thing to her.
And yes, France and Morocco are expensive places to film a commercial, even though since it was just the two of them not horridly so. The Mint parent company must be so happy that her new life partner is along for the Mint ride and willing to work for them, because the last one seemed rather unwilling do so.

  57. 57
    expensive Says:

I don’t know sounds like they put up the money themselves. If JM send them they would at least have someone for lighting and it was just him and her filming at her hotel. It looks like she had a bright idea told the hobbit and they rented a camera and did some guerilla filming again she is trying too hard to be “special”

  58. 58
    Actually... Says:

@expensive: That’s what I was thinking. It more sounded like they went on vacation for her birthday and happened to bring a nice camcorder along with them. The only thing BeachMint probably paid for was for him to edit it together.

  59. 59
    ladybug Says:

@Actually…: Rereading the second link, that little commercial was filmed in Morocco? How can you tell, most of it was filmed inside the hotel/apartment room. I have never been to Morocco, but my father was stationed there and he took lots and lots of pics, if they wanted to show Morocco they could have done something other than shots out of window, which they could have done in LA. And her excuse was her hair looks that way because it’s 3 am? What, she can’t use a hairbrush or a comb after 3 am? Is some variation of the rules in Gremlins, where you can’t get the mogwai wet or feed them after midnight?
@expensive, this is along the lines of the whole guerrilla movie making thing she’s into, isn’t it? And since she doesn’t have any movie roles coming up, she might as well channel her new obsession into commercials (oh, I’m sorry, short films) and get Jewelmint to foot the bill for a vacation.

  60. 60
    expensive Says:

Yeah, if anything they paid for the editing or he did it himself actually I am going to say he did himself. I a film student I could edit this in my sleep. I am just saying most company ford the bill and they get it done with sound and lighting techs etc. If it was indeed a short wouldn’t there be a story, this is not a short it would be a least 2:30 or 5 mins max. This is a commerical. @ ladybug Sorry I said guerilla filming. It more of an ametuer try. It should be a little bit more exciting considering they are in Morocco. Also considering he is a film maker this is quite LAME. I have seen commericals that were short sort of films like that one with Nicole Kidman here is the link
that’s a short sort film, hers NOT. I don’t even know how to class it other than a Try out. I love it when HW people take art and mess it up just to seem in the know.

  61. 61
    Actually... Says:

@ladybug: No, the one they just released was filmed in LA with Kate, MP, Cher, people to do the lighting, and people to do her hair and makeup. The next two were filmed with just Kate and MP, so this first one is as flashy as they are going to get. (Yes, that is her hair professionally styled, so just imagine what the Morocco shoot will look like.) And BeachMint probably only paid for the LA shoot because they’re going to use it as a commercial.

  62. 62
    ladybug Says:

@expensive: The photography’s nice, the editing is not that good. Not memorable.
@Actually, I thought it was filmed in LA as well. The only reason I mentioned Morocco is that the article gave the impression that it was filmed there. Unless they saw another ‘film short’ that hasn’t been shown yet.

  63. 63
    chelle Says:

@Actually…: so when can we expect the semi professional sex tape? Isn’t that the next logical step to staying relevant? After the crapmint commercials comes the ” oops someone stole our private video accidentally on purpose ” sex tape — hello kardashian …..ewww just grossed myself out ….KB and the Hobbit …….Aghhhh!!!!

  64. 64
    Fame Game Says:

This is the first on many such commercials. They are releasing a new one each month. The filmed in both Paris and Morocco and I seriously doubt that she put up her own money. MP is getting paid and they probably couldn’t afford much more than just him and her.
I’m sure it was her bright idea to take it on the road. Probably used his movie “For Lovers Only” and the movie she shot in Italy with Kat Coiro as the basis for how they would shoot it. Here’s a jewelmint clip showing a bit from the Moroccan shoot.

  65. 65
    ladybug Says:

@Fame Game: So basically it looks like they went to a resort and shot a commercial? No wonder she looked happy in the LAX pics, returning from paid vacations.
@chelle, thanks for that mental image! No, really, I think I’m scarred for life!

  66. 66
    @expensive Says:

I think it’s kind of crazy to compare a big BIG budget Chanel commercial to a film shot for JewelMint, an e-commerce business. It’s comparing apples to oranges. Personally, I think the JewelMint film is extremely well done. Better than anything I’ve seen from any other e-commerce business. I do agree with you that this is a commercial (albeit filmed) rather than a short film. I think the purpose of the screening was to show it to fashion magazine/sites people. I don’t believe it was meant to be a star-studded event. Why bash them – it’s a job well done!

  67. 67
    chelle Says:

@ladybug: I can totally see her trying to pull a Kim Kardashian ….too bad she doesn’t have the body to pull that one off either! Girl needs to give it up already! She’s totally washed up and now she’s taking Hobbit down with her ….she leaves a path of sucked dry men behind her wherever she goes! LOL

  68. 68
    Fame Game Says:

Those two have been flitting all over the world together since this June on basically free vacations. He was with her in Italy while she was filming her movie in Italy. That’s a business expense and will get paid back from any earnings the movie actually makes. Then there was the Ocean activists thing in the Maldives which they were flown to for whatever reason. I personally think they were using her role in Blue Crush and Daryl Hannah’s role in Splash to get attention. The only difference is Daryl Hannah actually is an activist and gives a crap about the environment. Now we know they were in France, not just for the film festival, but to film another commercial and then in Morocco for another getaway. I’m sure all these commercials were shoot in one afternoon. That leaves plenty of time for R&R. All I have to say is that for someone who has had at least 4 international vacations in the last 6 months and has actually only worked about 2 weeks of that time, she sure looks like sh*t.

  69. 69
    Mollybgood Says:

So, let me get this straight, Mark Polish has gone from critical acclaim to shooting JM commercials for KB? Talk about a fall from grace! But then she tends to destroy all she touches so why not his career/reputation too.

  70. 70
    expensive Says:

@66 okay calm down I know the Chanel was a big budget production. I agree with you I was not comapring budget, I was demonstrating story. The concept of short film. They said it was a short film it is NOT. Chanel was the first one that came to mind. But considering that MP is a indie director it’s a shame this is what he came up with.

I am not bashing them I am just saying it was LAME. First of all the pieces should have stand out more not KATE, personally I would have started out with KB in dress without accessories, doorbell goes JM delivery with pictures of pieces in he boxes and clues and she trying to find them one by one then, she does which also leads her to the guy or whatever this was just off the top of my head.

They could have done way better with even a lower budget This has nothing to do with e commerce it’s a simple fact they have a director doing commericals selling it as a short maybe you need to look on youtube at short films from amateur director and then tell me that this is extremely well done. It was OK.

  71. 71
    ladybug Says:

@Mollybgood: Wrong Polish, Michael is the one with Kate. But yes, Michael is now Kate-tainted.
@Fame Game, she’s probably very happy that she’s been able to get free vacays for the last 7 months. It beats actually working for a living.

  72. 72
    Megan Says:

@ladybug: 7 months hey? That’s almost half as long as she sucked Skarsgard dry! Haha! It’s amazing how fast she leeches on tho her time with Skarsgard seemed to drag by where this is flying by.

  73. 73
    OMG Says:

I’m embarrassed by the nasty, jealous AS fans at this site! Such behavior is deplorable and gives women a bad name! UGH! Get a life that makes you happy and grow up! Please! It’s hard enough for women to make it in this world. We don’t need to work hard to bring each other down.

  74. 74
    ladybug Says:

@OMG: If you’re trying to appeal to female unity you might want to to try not presuming that those who insult KB are AS (or OB) fans and insulting them. Kate’s disliked not because of previous or current boyfriends but because of who she is. And what she is is not the best example of womanhood: She doesn’t seem capable of being independent and alone and she doesn’t seem to be able to dress herself without the help of Cher. She has succumbed to the HW mantra of thin at all costs.

  75. 75
    chelle Says:

    @ladybug: #74 THANK YOU!!

@OMG: Yet here you are defending this pitiful excuse for a “STRONG WOMAN”. Just because I happen to like As and OB has absolutely nothing to do with why I despise this ….There are no real words to describe what I think about her….. I personally could give 2 shi*ts about anyone elses private life. She brings the curve of rating women down for the entire planet. I am extremely happy and comfortable in my life with the exception of the few moments I would love to nuke everyone off the planet myself while dealing with my job… There is nothing she has ever done to prove hard work. Smirking and fukcing every male in sight is not a good atribute. This jewelry crap is just anoth halfassed attempt to sta relevant enough to still score free crap and paid vacations. Just my opinion take it for what it’s worth.

  76. 76
    ladybug Says:

@chelle: I’d like to give her props for trying JewelMint, in that it looks like she’s trying to forge something on her own, and making a fall-back for if she stops getting movie roles. But do we even know how really involved in JM she really is, other than being their face.
I suppose I should also give her props for having trying to option and produce films that’s she’s interested in. But those haven’t even made it past pre-production.
And yet if she’s known at all she’s known for a role 10 years old, her dating life and the high probability that she calls the paps on herself so she can still maintain some relevancy. Not a career path that I’d want other young women to emulate, not if i liked them.

  77. 77
    Mjforlife Says:

She looks HORRIBLE!!! What happened to this chick?

  78. 78
    Tulip Says:

For those of you who doubt the launch was held at a great venue (maybe the best in LA) or argue she’s not a fashion icon, please read this from the Wall Street Journal:
“I chatted with Bosworth in Los Angeles at Soho House, where she debuted the short film – and two others that will soon be released — in the club’s swank screening room.” And this:
“Bosworth perched on one a plush chair wearing a sporty white Altuzarra dress with ruffles at the hemline. Her choice of designer shows why the actress has become beloved by the fashion world – Joseph Altuzarra is a rising star in the New York fashion design world – he’s an insider’s designer.” Not to mention, having a writer from The Wall Street Journal attend the launch is pretty high caliber. They wouldn’t bother with it if they didn’t feel it was worthy of note.

  79. 79
    Ughhhhhhhhhhhh Says:

This was taken during straw dogs august 2009 , private dinner with Alex and Kate. Ughhhhhhhhhh

    She still looks like crap.

  80. 80
    Blackcat99 Says:

@Tulip: I hate to tell you this but people get “PAID” to write crap like this.If Kate was wearing a burlap sack and they wrote the same thing I still would not wear it.That part about her being “Beloved” by the fashion industry makes me LAUGH!

Take a look at the link below.Look at this picture of Kate. She looks high, drunk, stoned or all three. She looks NASTY, over processed and all that work she has done has done nothing for her.

  81. 81
    Tulip Says:

@Blackcat99: You posted a beautiful picture of Kate and I love the necklace. Thank you for the link. What are you talking about, people get “paid” to write crap like this. You’re not really that ignorant, are you? Are you familiar with the Wall Street Journal – arguably the most respected newspaper in the USA.

  82. 82
    Actually.. Says:

@Tulip: You shouldn’t get any style icon points for having your *stylist* pick out a trendy designer, especially if the dress is ugly. (Which IMHO, this one is.)

  83. 83
    ladybug Says:

@Tulip: Favor to ask, when you’re going to the trouble of pasting parts of an article please also paste the link. Thank you.
That’s actually on one of their blogs and probably won’t appear in the actual paper or the main website. But JewelMint did get some fawning press from the WSJ back in May of last year:
Different authors but both have the same fawning non-critical style.
And Tulip, the WSJ was respected, at least for their reporters (their editorial page was always beyond right wing) but now under the ownership of Rupert Murdoch it is not as respected as it was.

Yes, there are fashion bloggers/writers that really like her. And that’s probably why they were invited, they’re already into her.
I don’t have a problem with people liking the way she dresses (or the way that Cher dresses her), that ‘s a personal taste issue. But the ones that like her seem to be very sycophantic and for what. You’re worshiping a someone for their ability to wear clothes. That’s weird. And that’s really all she does, is wear clothes.
@Actually.., I like parts of the dress because it makes her look like she has a figure, which she doesn’t.

  84. 84
    ladybug Says:

Here’s an interesting short article on stylists in the NYT, and Kate and Cher get mentioned, they should be happy:
“These days, the most successful stylists are less inclined to commandeer the wares, or for that matter, the spotlight. “Your ego has to drop a little,” said Cher Coulter, who has dressed Kate Bosworth and Kirsten Dunst. Ms. Coulter and others have accordingly channeled their skills, and competitive drive, into a variety of potentially lucrative sidelines. Ms. Coulter recently unveiled a jewelry line with Ms. Bosworth. A denim collaboration is in the works.”
    This is the interesting part:
“..Dressing for a major red carpet isn’t simply getting ready for a big party and looking pretty,” said George Kotsiopoulos, a stylist and a former editor at T: The New York Times Style Magazine who is now a host on “Fashion Police” on the E! network. In recent years, he said, “it’s been about selling yourself as a brand.”
The pale lavender Reem Acra gown that Olivia Wilde wore at the 2008 Emmy Awards lent her A-list impact, arguably attracting the attention of the film executives who cast her, a featured player in “House,” in commercial films like “Tron: Legacy” and “Cowboys & Aliens.” As her stylist, Ms. Welch, observed, “Good clothes can open doors.”
Dear Studio Execs: In the end, I want someone in a movie who can actually act and got hired for that fact not because they looked good on a red carpet.

  85. 85
    Actually.. Says:

@ladybug: I do like that the dress gives her curves (although that green Tom Ford did it better). I just don’t like how the fabric looks like cheap spandex, or the stiff detail sewn over the ruffles. The ruffles in general are a bit weird, but bother me less then when I first saw them. And I’m going to assume that the 3 (or 2?) barely different shades of white make more sense in person then on film. It’s definably not hideous, I just don’t like it.
And I second the opinion that actors should be able to act WAY before you start worrying about what they look like on the red carpet.

  86. 86
    ladybug Says:

@Actually..: I knew that image is very important but I didn’t realize that it influenced studio execs as much as it does. Obviously sinec the industry began people have been cast for their looks but unless they can actually act it usually doesn’t last forever. Though this may explain why Jessica Biel still gets roles. She’s can’t really act, but she dresses very well.
Last month in a JJ post KB and MP said this:
“We’re big fans, we’ve been following her for a while,” Kate said about Lana. “Check out her video for “Video Games.” It’s amazing,” Michael added.
Having finally seen Lana Del Rey I can say Mr. Polish and I must have different definitions of amazing.

@Tulip: When writers go these functions YES they ARE PAID! They are are invited to these functions and it is part of their job. Do you really think they are going to insult the designer by calling Kate a STONED NASTY MESS!The dress was just OK but if you think Kate looked “Beautiful” in that photo then you are the “Ignorant” one!

    mforman Says:

@chelle and ladybug—You are both right, but have different ideas. I have never cared about her personal life that much, what I care about is the disgrace she brings to the hard working, talented women of HW, who work at their craft and do not trade “favors” for parts. KB has never done anything for charity or gotten involved in causes. To see her on a red carpet with that ridiculous smirk, that says, “I am better than the rest of you”, is disgusting. All she is known for is a 10yr old film role.
The funniest thing is when you go on the JM website under KB’s name is Actress/Director—what has she ever directed, she puts words out about movies that go no where. That is why the girl has absolutely nothing coming up, all she is known for is a 10yr film role, calling the paps, sleeping with anyone that can make and/or keep her relevant and having one of the worst reputations in all of HW.
KB has not one celebrity friend, not one person who she has worked with, all she has is paid for friends, that is truly a disgrace.
@Tulip—The bloggers that were invited and yes it was just bloggers to that weird breakfast are paid and they only invited ones that have always written positive posts about KB and JM. They made sure to keep this event very close to the chest, if you get what I mean, and like I said above no friends were there, none for support, because she doesn’t have any.
@Tulip—-Blackcat 99—Printed a photo that just shows you what she has done to herself, she looks drunk, or stoned, her hair looks like it hasn’t been washed in days and that stuffed bra she wore looked ridiculous, she tried that same type of bra once before, when she gave Cher an award and it looked just as bad. But how you can say she looks beautiful, look at how full of colagen her lips are and how fake her cheekbones look, the reddness of her face and the way she is making sure her hair is over her eyes covering the crows feet in the corners of her eyes. I wonder if she was told to stop already, look at her forehead.

    Marquee Says:

I saw Another Happy Day recently on Pay-Per-View and Kate’s performance was superb. I also thought Ellen Burstyn and Ezra Miller were wonderful. The film had brilliant moments and some that didn’t work for me. Still, I give Sam Levinson kudos for this being his first film.

  90. 90
    Tulip Says:

@Blackcat99: You posted, “When writers go these functions YES they ARE PAID!” You’re right, they are paid. In this case, the person writes for and is paid by the WSJ. It’s still the WSJ just a different format. They don’t have to respond positively to the product or event.
@ladybug: The WSJ is a highly regarded newspaper and doesn’t engage in tabloid journalism. Rupert Murdoch’s media empire owns many businesses that were not tainted by the tabloid hacking scandal in the UK. I agree with you their editorials tend to be right-wing. Also, sorry I didn’t provide the link in my earlier post #78.

  91. 91
    ladybug Says:

@Tulip: I didn’t call the WSJ tabloid, but the writer can still be very fawning and write for a ‘respected’ newspaper, her fawning is probably what got her invited. The fact that she writes for the WSJ is a bonus. Did you really think they were going to invite writers/bloggers that were critical of KB and/or the Mint family?

  92. 92
    Actually... Says:

@Tulip: Because when I think of hard hitting fashion news, I think of the Wall Street Journal. I’m sure they hold their fashion section to the same standards as their other journalists. Not to mention their bloggers that probably don’t even work on site. (/sarcasm)
I don’t think that bloggers are paid directly for good press, but I do think they are paid in favors. Write nice things about JewelMint and maybe you’ll get an interview with Mary Kate and Ashley for StyleMint. Or maybe Kate’s PR team will like you and send their other clients to be interviewed by you. It’s not getting directly paid off, but it is the promise of favors that can help your career.

  93. 93
    mforman Says:

@Tulip and Stans—– the bloggers were the only ones that were invited to cover this and by bloggers, I mean the only ones that write only positive and wonderful crap about Cher and KB; believe me there was not one blogger invited that has an actual opinion and that is how the two of them want to handle it. That alone should show you how fake and self serving they are.

I do not think one hard press writer was invited, and I do not think in any of the fashion tabloids (Lucky, Nylon, In Style, etc.) will even run a pc on this ridiculous breakfast.

  94. 94

    Lucie Says:

This critic got KB down pat in his review of Another Happy Day:

“……. and a sister of the groom who likes to cut herself. She’s played by Kate Bosworth, who after years of failing to live up to her hype machine should probably be doing something more in line with her talents, such as toothpaste commercials.”

@Lucie: Hah! Now there is blogger for a Murdoch paper who doesn’t like her. And instead of commercials I think he means ‘short films’.

    Weird Says:

Of many reviews, that was the only bad one that I can remember. Most critics praised her performance.

  99. 99

@Weird: Or didn’t really mention it:
“She took their troubled daughter Alice (Kate Bosworth), who cuts rather than cries ”
And no KB and MP at any GG parties?

    burnt bacon Says:

    “new short films for JewelMint”
Or, as the rest of the world calls them, infomercials.
Nah, just let her call them “short films.” It makes her feel like she’s an actress.

  101. 101
    ladybug Says:

@burnt bacon: I’m surprised the Mints haven’t had infomercials yet. A 1/2 hour with Kate, Rachel and whoever else shows up.

  102. 102
    burnt bacon Says:

@ladybug: I’m surprised, too. You’d think they’d at least spring for those late-night “if you order now” commercials. I hear Vince Offer is looking for work, he could always be their pitchman.

  103. 103
    mforman Says:

@#99—ladybug—The only reason she was able to attend, the GG parties last year was because she forced herself to cling to AS and poor Bill, who didn’t know what to do when she made sure the cameras were watching and then moved in to try and kiss him. I loved it when they are all in the car and she is just standing around, looking at the camera , waiting to see if anybody even knows if she is missing, I love it when you can tell she realizes they probably don’t care and she just gets in herself. I haven’t saved many You Tube Videos, but that one I just had too.
Also, the only party she got herself invited too was Relativity Media’s party because that was before, in part thanks to her Ryan K still had a job. This year Ryan K no job, no KB or MP invite, interesting.

@#94—HAHAHAHA–I do not need a guest list to make the observation (big word for you, sorry) that only bloggers who always write about JM, KB and Cher, especially about KB where there. Soon we will see little interviews and postings on the JM facebook page, about all the wonderful things that were written about her and her amazing style (ha, ha, ha). The creature doesn’t even hide these ridiculous things anymored.
Since you are such a great fan and defender of hers, I was wonderig if you had the answer to why she puts actress/director on the JM facebook page, I keep waiting for producer, but I figured since you know so much about her and keep picking on us, you would know. Just wondering, because you seem so intent on saying extremely cruel things to us, the peole that back up what they say and just let her get away with anything.

@#95—Marissa—KB is beyond laughable. Each JJ post is funnier than the last. I really wish she would go away, now we will have to deal with these absoultely ridiculous commericals with the “visonary” director, that had to be one of the funniest lines ever, has anyone but me seen “Atronaut Farmer”. KB has nothing, and I mean nothing lined up, either does he, so I guess, we will soon see them both going to the drs and to the salon.

  104. 104
    HAHAHA Says:

@mforman: Do you have spellcheck? Are you that stupid? I know you’re deranged – everyone knows you’re deranged. I really wish you would go away but you’re good for a laugh! For your info, I don’t “keep picking on us”, I target you because you’re vile.

    mforman Says:

@#104—-You really must have enjoyed being a bully throughout your schooling. It was probably the only time in your life that you did or will feel like a big shot.

    I like this from InStyleUK:

Style maven Kate Bosworth launches her stunning new jewellery collection for JewelMint with a stunning campaign.

Showcasing her designs in a series of short fashions film directed by her boyfriend Michael Polish for jewellery label JewelMint, Kate positively sizzles as she models her range of necklaces, earrings and rings.

    It is a stunning campaign!

  107. 107
    ladybug Says:

@Tulip: I’m surprised they didn’t mention having been there. Perhaps her next ‘premiere’ they’ll be invited since they’re more than a bit sycophantic.
She does know her audience though, I’ll give her that.
I’ve asked before, but is the fashion media always this fawning, no matter the celeb/model? I stopped reading the fashion mags in college, and I’m glad, because the sycophancy is nauseating.

    Curious Carissa Says:

I was just perusing through the site when I stumbled across this post. It was a little jarring, because I haven’t seen Kate Bosworth in forever! My friend (who was obsessed with Orlando Bloom) used to talk about her but that was years ago!
I just have one question for the sake of curiosity. Why exactly is everyone so mad at her? Is she secretly a serial puppy murderer? =) And what is JewelMint?

  109. 109
    Lal Says:

Those magazines are just ads, from the the blatant ones to those disguised as commentaries. Their only purpose is to sell products they are paid to (advertising). Have you ever seen a criticism of anything in those magazines? No, you haven’t. Therefore anything they write should be taken with a grain or teaspoon of salt.

  110. 110
    ladybug Says:

@Curious Carissa: JewelMint is the jewelry arm of the BeachMint family, they also have shoes, clothing, etc. Whether or not KB actually has ownership or designs anything isn’t really known:
“While Kim Kardashian probably does have some role in choosing which shoes are available on ShoeDazzle, and its not beyond belief that Kate Bosworth gives the okay on some of the selections on JewelMint, theres nothing in SEC filings to suggest either is a significant shareholder.”

    @Curious Carissa Says:

There’s a pack of Alexander Skarsgard fans who love to hate on Kate for dating him. Same as back in the OB days. Now they’ll jump in and say she’s a drug addict, fame@hore, husband stealer, boyfriend stalker but it’s all so lame and unfounded. They want to believe that nonsense (they even create stories) because she and Alex were together. It’s all so weird. Guys don’t do that. They don’t hate on a guy because he’s with a hot girl. Girls — that’s another story. You might remember that from the days your friend obsessed on OB. Maybe your friend was above the hate. Hope so.

  113. 113
    Actually.. Says:

@ladybug: She told BlackBook: “I had no interest in signing a contract that would force me to curate pieces I found horrendous.”
Curate is the word that BeachMint uses when a celebrity has decided to put their name on a preexisting piece.

  114. 114
    Actually.. Says:

@@Curious Carissa: I think that Kate at the very least used to do drugs because she used to party with Lindsay Lohan during her bad partying days. And I know just because your friend does drugs doesn’t mean that you do, but they would both come out of the club in equally bad states so I assume they were both partaking in the same things.

  115. 115
    Actually.. Says:

@Actually..: Oh and I’ve never liked Orlando Bloom at all and am fairly indifferent to Alexander Skarsgard at this point.

  116. 116
    ladybug Says:

@@Curious Carissa: To repost an earlier comment from this thread:
“@OMG: If you’re trying to appeal to female unity you might want to to try not presuming that those who insult KB are AS (or OB) fans and insulting them. Kate’s disliked not because of previous or current boyfriends but because of who she is. And what she is is not the best example of womanhood: She doesn’t seem capable of being independent and alone and she doesn’t seem to be able to dress herself without the help of Cher. She has succumbed to the HW mantra of thin at all costs.”
There seems to be a small group of people who don’t want to admit that perhaps it’s actually Kate herself that’s not liked, it always has to be something else: her boyfriends, her thinness, her hair, etc.

  117. 117
    ladybug Says:

So she is trying to be fashionable with her hair:
“Tousled hair, smudged eyeliner, dewy lips and luminous skin are in.”

Except it doesn’t look good on her.

  118. 118
    Tulip Says:

@Actually: Actually, Kate didn’t party with Lindsay Lohan. They were both at a Tommy Hilfiger event in Paris but not together. Afterward, Kate and James gave Lindsay a ride somewhere because she couldn’t find her limo. Other than that, there haven’t been any sightings of KB with LL.
@Ladybug: Really? Do you think post #112 compares to the snarky, fallacious comments and name calling that some posters resort to? It doesn’t strike me that way at all. Somebody asked why the hate and it sounds like a fairly accurate answer.
Kate’s eyes, lips, and skin are beautiful but I think she should do more with her hair!

  119. 119
    ladybug Says:

@Tulip: Yes, it does. Because KB is not liked because of who she is not because of who she dates. So it’s a denial answer, not an accurate answer.
Her lips and skin aren’t good anymore, sorry. Before Superman Returns she had nice skin and looked healthy, she doesn’t anymore.
You seem like a very nice person, but you also seem to be very naive. Admire Kate for her fashion sense but look very closely, both literally (her face) and mentally (her personality), there’s not that much there to admire. Is she on the Kardashian/Lohan scale of bad behavior? No. But she’s not really likable or admirable either.

  120. 120
    Tulip Says:

I have no reason not to like Kate. People who have worked with her, interviewed her, friends, fans who have met her all say she’s so nice. I’m not naive. I don’t put any faith into snarky comments posted by people who don’t know her. Her face is beautiful. Some people say she’s had botox, etc but she hasn’t. If you watch videos, her face is very animated. Botox freezes the face. She’s always had beautiful lips – no fillers. Her eyes are exquisite. I don’t understand why you say she isn’t likable or admirable. Quite frankly, many celebrities contribute to charities without making it public knowledge or photo ops. I prefer that. For some to say she doesn’t to anything charitable is merely an uninformed assumption. Sorry but I really don’t understand from what reputable source you feel you’ve gained insight into Kate that makes her unlikable. I guess we’ll just have to agree to disagree on some issues. BTW, thanks for the compliment. I try to be a nice person. You’re usually nice and respectful too. A few times I’ve seen you get sucked into a mindset similar to that of some others at this site but I believe it’s not really who you are. I have a very hard time with mforman and clearly I’m not alone (I’m not HAHAHA either!). I’ve decided not to read her posts.

  121. 121
    Actually... Says:

@Tulip: Several people have stories of her being rude to fans that asked for autographs when she is out by herself (as in not with one of her boyfriends). Obviously we have no way of proving who is right or which reaction is more common, but there have been many bad fan interactions.
When asked what she is passionate about philanthropically, Kate said that she would love to “Help women with some kind of sanctuary, shelter, and ultimately education in war-torn countries.” And when Jared (the interviewer) said that he hopes that she finds the organization that she’s passionate about, Kate just says thank you. To most people saying that she *would* like to find a charity implies that she hasn’t found a charity she is interested and doesn’t do charity work or donate money (at least not very much). But you are right, she has never directly said that, we are just inferring it. (But would anyone actually SAY they didn’t participate in charity?)
Most interviewers I’ve heard either imply or directly state that Kate is boring. Admittedly that’s not horribly negative, but that’s when she’s trying to sell something and has her best foot forward. Jonathan Ross compared her to a lamp and Heidi from Planet Fury didn’t like her either. (There are more examples that I have seen, but those are the only two I can think of off the top of my head.)
And my previous post might have been misleading, I honestly don’t care if she used to do drugs, or even if she currently is doing them, as long as they didn’t get in the way of work (that’s including alcohol). I was just trying to give you a reason why people think she does drugs without being snarky.

  122. 122
    ladybug Says:

@Tulip: “Sorry but I really don’t understand from what reputable source you feel you’ve gained insight into Kate that makes her unlikable”. But haven’t you done the same thing i have, just reached a different conclusion? Neither one of has met her, I’m going to presume that she would be at least superficially polite to me. But that doesn’t really mean anything.
Charity: you’re correct, she could be doing something without telling the press, she could be working with horses and traumatized children/returned war vets or something. I am not as hung up on the charity thing because it really isn’t everyones thing, and she’s only 29. I don’t recall George Clooney or Sean Penn being known for their charitable impulses at that age. Perhaps she’ll find something that she’s really passionate about. Or not.
Do I think she’s had botox? No. But she’s had something done. When you look at her pics from before 2006 she was very fresh faced, she had very visible freckles (I have freckles, I like people with freckles). But not now, she’s not as fresh faced and where are those facial freckles? You don’t naturally lose freckles in your 20′s.
I’m presuming the drug rumors started with the weight loss, coke is a stimulant drug and is used to by some people to maintain weight loss or help with it (models, jockeys). I don’t get the impression that she does them. I’ll take her word that when she’s stressed she loses weight, and in 2006 she was very stressed-relationship with OB was ending, her reviews for Superman Returns were pretty terrible. And she was tiny to begin with. But I think she also internalized the whole HW/Fashion industry mantra of their models looking like prepubescent boys, whether she’s aware of it or not.
And then there’s the obvious pap calling. Sorry, she’s not that well known in either HW or the fashion world to be papped walking down the street with her BF. Is she the only pap-calling celeb, or young actress who’s gotten a little too slender or perhaps had more procedures (non surgical) done to her face? Nope.
    I don’t hate her. But I don’t like her.

  123. 123
    Tulip Says:

@Actually: Kate was so young when she was on Jonathon Ross. Guests on his show have to have a strong internal makeup to parley with him. Charlize Theron refused to go on his show without other castmates with her. She was terrified of him. I’m sure Kate felt somewhat intimidated. Everyone does!! I don’t want to get into a sparring match with you as to who’s said she’s very intelligent (GQ for one) and who thinks she’s boring. I’m sure she’s very bright. If you disagree, that’s fine. Personally, I think it’s lame if people jump to the conclusion she does drugs because she was at the same event in Paris as LL.
@Ladybug: With all due respect, I don’t think I’m doing the same thing as you when debating whether or not Kate’s likable. I’ve reached a conclusion based on what people who know her or have spent time with her have to say. She seems very appealing when she’s a guest on television shows but as you said, that’s a moment in time. It seems to me, people in the film and fashion industry who know her like her very much and have worked with her repeatedly. Even Chelsea Handler who can be a little snarky said Kate’s very respected. I’m not sure what you’re basing your conclusions on. I also disagree with you on the pap calling. I think very few celebrities call the paps. Orlando gets papped on a bike ride in a remote part of the mountains and nobody accuses him of calling paps. Nor should they. They know where celebrities live and follow them from their homes. When Kate and OB were papped after randomly running into each other on the street, Kate took a hit for calling paparazzi. Why? They’re all over OB like flies. Girls love to accuse Kate of that. It’s fine if you don’t like Kate. We don’t have to like the same people. Differences in opinions make life interesting. All for now. Hope you and Actually are enjoying the weekend!
