Brad Pitt Covers 'W' Magazine February 2012

Brad Pitt takes the February 2012 cover of W Magazine.

Here’s what the 48-year-old actor opened up about (via Extra):

On crying during a movie: I’m not much of a crier at films, but there was one…I was coming back from Cabo on my way to Montreal, and I got hit with Montezuma’s revenge. I could not keep anything down. I was stuck in a hotel room with no windows and was just doing what you do when you’re sick. On day two of this extremely painful episode, I watched a [2001] film called Life as a House. Kevin Kline is an architect and learns he has terminal cancer. He’s estranged from his teenage son and decides they’re going to finish this house. I don’t know if it would still hit me the same way, but on my 27th hour of pure wretchedness, this movie just crushed me. I should watch it again to see if it has the same effect.

On if his parents have seen him die in a movie: “They would have to. I die really well, by the way. It’s one of my strong points. I just take a bullet well.”

On if he has trouble watching himself die: “God, no. I’m just checking the boxes. Hit that. Missed that. Hit that moment. Missed that one. God, I’d like to do that one again.”

On the first role he auditioned for: “My agent sent me out for two films. One of them was The Accused with Jodie Foster. I was so excited.”

On if he went out for the part of the rapist: “Probably not. With this face, I was probably up for the guy with the conscience. I called up afterward and asked, ‘How did I do?’ There were three seconds of silence and then: ‘Have you ever thought about acting classes?’”

Brad Pitt Found Angelina Jolie ‘Crying in the Shower’
I’m rolling my eyes at the media. Why is this news? She said the exact same thing THREE MONTHS AGO IN VANITY FAIR and nobody paid any attention to it. Plus, as if you needed anymore proof that she’s a grassy knoll loving moron, Lamey’s over on her site blathering on about this quote and HuffPo’s claim that they’re presenting means Brad and Angie pulling out all the stops and how badly they want to win. (Presumably she means Oscars, SAGs and GGs but she’s so effin’ ridic it’s hard to be sure.)

  • SaPa

    Dayum he looks delicious!

  • Passing Through

I can’t believe I’m going to say this…but…I’m not feelin’ the W cover (too much of a Dark Years throwback…Hey, it’s 1998 again!)…but the picture of him eating crackers in bed is hilarious. Seeing it makes me think the cover photo is meant to be tongue-in-cheek

  • Kirsten

Wow, he is gorgeous. Angie and the kids must be his fountain of youth. I cried in Life As a House, too Brad.

Brangelina Set to Present at Golden Globes?
    Leah Collins,
    January 13, 2012 12:32 PM

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are expected to present an award at the Golden Globes. IT WILL BE GLORIOUS.

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt will be at the Golden Globes Sunday night. This much we knew, even amid reports of a tightened guest-list. Who could ever deny a seat to anyone whose beauty is like a million adult-cuddles from the angels — and who, you know, happen to be up for some major awards (a best dramatic actor and dramatic movie nod for Pitt and a best foreign language film nomination for Jolie).

Still, The Huffington Post has a newsflash for you: Brangelina won’t just be drinking and sitting pretty on Globes night. They’ll be presenting, as well!

Finally, a chance to watch the world’s most famous couple in action. Just imagine the potential: maybe we’ll watch them adopt four orphan war refugees before Miss Golden Globes can usher them offstage. Or maybe they’ll just politely read whatever’s written for them on the teleprompter and go back to practicing their “thoughtful faces” in the audience.

Either way, we’ll be watching — plus live-blogging the action Sunday night. (Check back to for our Golden Globes coverage, starting at 7 p.m. ET.)

The following is a list of Hollywood types who will also be presenting awards at the Golden Globes. None of them are named Brad Pitt or Angelina Jolie, so feel free to just skip it and watch this video of cute kitty-cats boxing, instead.

The Golden Globes air Sunday, Jan. 14 at 8 p.m. ET.

    2012 Golden Globes presenters include:

    Natalie Portman

    George Clooney

    Mila Kunis

    Mark Wahlberg

    Robert Downey Jr.

    Reese Witherspoon

    Rob Lowe

    Michelle Pfeiffer

    Salma Hayek

    Melissa McCarthy

    Nicole Kidman

“Moneyball” Livestream with Brad Pitt and Jonah Hill Monday

This Monday, Jan. 16, at 1 p.m. PST (4 p.m. EST) please join us for a very special live Q&A with Brad Pitt and Jonah Hill. Both actors scored deserved SAG Award and Golden Globe nominations for their work in “Moneyball,” one of my favorite movies of the year. So check in right here on Monday to watch the pair discuss their roles in the movie, the true story of Oakland A’s manager Billy Beane, who took on the system by implementing a new form of statistical analysis of players.

LMAO at Brad’s answer when asked if he auditioned for the part of the rapist in The Accused. The last part about the acting lessons he’s said before. It’s the bolded section that cracked me up. It says a lot about the roles he’s always been interested in – NOT the goody two shoes types…
Did you go out for the part of the rapist?
Probably not. With this face, I was probably up for the guy with the conscience. I called up afterward and asked, “How did I do?” There were three seconds of silence and then: “Have you ever thought about acting classes?”

Angelina Jolie on her movie ‘In the Land of Blood and Honey’

At a special screening of her directorial debut, ‘In the Land of Blood and Honey,’ Angelina Jolie, joined by Brad Pitt, explains why the hardest part of making the film was keeping a balance between sides, and not causing offense. (Jan. 11)

“In the Land of Blood and Honey,” which opened Friday, stars a cast of virtually complete unknowns, actors from the former Yugoslavia who appear in a story about the Bosnian-Serbian conflict in 1992. It’s a rigorous, sometimes raw look at life during wartime at its most senseless, an often startlingly effective portrait not just of atrocities that included rape, sexual humiliation and gratuitous killings, but of stark international apathy. In many ways Jolie’s film resembles “Hotel Rwanda,” about a similar instance of collective paralysis in the face of unimaginable violence.

“The crux of the story was my frustration with lack of intervention,” says Jolie, the bottle of water tipping back and forth in her small hand. “I spent so much time with people in post-conflict situations where I wish I could just turn back the clock, before they were so scarred, and before so many losses.” She wants audiences to experience her own feelings firsthand, so that “if you’re watching the film,” she says, “you’re thinking, ‘Can somebody please stop this? It’s getting worse, I want to get out of this theater, I just want to get out of here!’ ”

But first, of course, she wants to get people into the theater, not an easy proposition for a subtitled drama in Bosnian, Serbian and Croatian, about a war that took place in a faraway place and time, featuring actors American audiences have never heard of. After shying away from initially exploiting her celebrity, she’s now a ubiquitous presence on the movie-marketing hustings, showing up for awards ceremonies, interviews and, just last week, when she and her partner, Brad Pitt, attended a special screening at the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum.

“I didn’t do this film because I wanted to direct or be a director,” Jolie says. “I didn’t even intend on doing that when I wrote it. [Brad and I] kind of joked about it, because it seemed so impossible for me to write a film that would become a movie. We said, we’re going to send it to people from all sides of the conflict with my name off of it. If they agree, we’ll consider making a film, and if they don’t, we’ll throw it in the trash. . . . I’ve tried to do the best I could, and I feel this is a representation of who I am. Most of the films I do are [about] characters that I have fun with, but are not representative of who I am and what I believe.”

    ‘The way to raise people’

Jolie is getting ready to go — but then stops short when a question about American exceptionalism comes up. “I think it’s wrong,” she says flatly, and that leads her to a related thought. “I’m surprised there isn’t a watch on textbooks. . . . I home-school my kids now, and really have cracked down on the history books, making sure that they get not my view, but a balanced view and, because they’re from other countries, that they’re proud of their countries. Because that’s the way to raise people.

“If you’re raised thinking you’re the only country that did great things and you’re the only people that do great things, then . . . it causes isolationism and violence,” she continues, grabbing her bag. “I don’t know if it’s the U.N. or what, but there’s got to be some international check just to make sure you’re not inciting violence.”

With that, Angelina Jolie is off — to check on her kids who are playing down the hall, then presumably to make a few calls to see if she can turn another frustration into an idea, and that idea into a reality.

The Best George Clooney and Brad Pitt Bromantic Moments From the Critics’ Choice Awards
    Updated 01/13/12 9:20 AM · Posted 01/13/12 9:19 AM by Allie Merriam · 1 comment

Last night was all about the Critics’ Choice Awards winners, but who could take their eyes off best actor nominees Brad Pitt and George Clooney? The guys, who have been friends for years, happily took advantage of the chance to catch up. They hugged, talked, and laughed together — and the cameras captured it all! They both had something to celebrate. George won their shared category, but Brad’s Moneyball went on to win the best adapted screenplay honor for writers Steven Zaillian, Aaron Sorkin, and Stan Chervin. George was able to toast his victory with girlfriend Stacy Keibler, who looked great in a white Armani gown, but Brad was rolling solo for the evening. Angelina Jolie skipped out on the show, opting instead to do a live web chat supporting her directorial debut In the Land of Blood and Honey.

Hollywood’s hottest heavyweights are going head-to-head this award season. Find out how these handsome leading men are making 2012 the sexiest best actor race ever!
    View Transcript

Hollywood’s most handsome heavyweights are going head to head. Hey there, I’m Karli Bulnes and here are the seven sexy men making this year’s best actor rates the hottest one ever. “I need more money.” Brad Pitt is racking up the nominations Money Ball but his performance wasn’t the only thing that caught my eye. You guys are talking the same old nonsense like and we’re looking for Fabio. I love his clean shaven look in the movie. It’s so much better than that scruffy beard he’s been rocking off screen. And with Angelina on his arm on all the upcoming red carpets it’s definitely going to up his wow factor. I ‘d like to know who the guy is that my wife was seeing. George Clooney traded in his usually suave self to play a downtrodden dad in The Defendant and it’s earned him tons of nominations this year. I got to be with her, I don’t know what to do with her. It was very exciting to see him mix things up with this emotionally vulnerable role, plus the beautiful Hawaiian setting didn’t hurt things either. But of course, he will be back to his smooth self and kiss the red carpet with new girlfriend Stacy Keibler plus we know if he doesn’t start winning, he’ll start drinking. just so you know. Do you find me attractive? I’ll be looking out for Ryan Gosling this year, who’s nominated for three movies and I thought he was smoking in all of them. In Crazy Stupid Love, he’s the epitome of a lady killer, in Drive he’s the strong silent type, and in The Ides of March he played somebody who’s ambitious and very serious about his career, which I find very, very sexy. Mr. Chairman, I urge passage of the Lindburg Law, making kidnapping a federal offense. Leonardo DiCaprio nominated for a critic’s choice award, SAG and golden globe critics performance in J. Edgar. He had to transform himself into an old man for the role and definitely deserves the accolades for that. Give me your hand. I’ve loved Leo since his Titanic days, and I can’t wait to see him looking hot in a tux on the red carpet. Slowly. Michael Fassbender has been getting lots of notice for his role in the extremely racy movie “Shamed.” And we see a lot of Michael Fassbender in that movie, so I’m thinking that is why he is getting the long overdue notice that he deserves, in addition to the fact that he’s an extremely good actor. You a man? So as award season approaches, I’m excited to see some fresh blood on the red carpet as much as I love industry veterans like Brad Pitt and George Clooney. And finally, we’ve got to point out Matt Damon and Daniel Craig. After all, even though they haven’t garnered any nomination yet for their several must-see performances. We’re still holding for a sexy sighting of them at one of the award shows. Win or lose, with these guys on the guest list, 2012 is sure to be a year of red hot red carpet.

Ok, my bad. When I first saw you guys giving Clooney the verbal beat down, I didn’t think it was cool, I even said so. . H*ell, he’s Brad’s friend and HE likes him. But Pitt also knows Clooney is playing the game, he eluded to that more than once. I still think that his Humanitarian works, whatever the motivation, are good because it’s helping people.
However, I hadn’t paid much attention to Clooney, as I’m not a particular fan. I don’t think I’ve ever seen one of his movies in it’s entirety. But, during this award season, I’ve listened to a couple of his speeches. I’m telling you now, I was nauseated. Honestly, he gave me a creepy crawly feeling and frankly I was embarrassed for him. .Pitt would die a thousand deaths before he’d spout the BS that Clooney did. Really, I don’t think Pitt could say that stuff with a straight face.
Sheesh, I’m embarrassed for Clooney just THINKING about it. lol.
Anyway, I do see why he is ridiculed.
