David Beckham: L.A. Galaxy Contract Renewed!

David Beckham suits up for a press conference announcing his new contract with the L.A. Galaxy on Thursday (January 19) at Staples Center in Los Angeles.

The 36-year-old British soccer star signed on to stay with the MLS team after the Galaxy won the MLS Cup in late November.

“One of the major reasons why I wanted to continue in L.A. is that my family are happy here,” David said (via ESPN). “We’re happy living here. We’re happy living in America. But the reason I came to L.A. is to play soccer. The reason I came here was to win a trophy. I hadn’t done that in four years, and last season I did it.”

    There is so many other athletes from other countries you could post about but you still choose someone who is irrelevant. Does anyone even watch his games??? I seriously doubt it.

    As a football fan I think its a real shame he has stayed in the US (no offence to any americans)

    I think he is capable of playing football at the highest level still in Europe, would of been good to see him playing at AC milan, PSG or back in the premier league.

    @Style Me Celeb: The story being floated is that he did it so he didn’t have to uproot his family again, especially now that the boys seem to be happy and well–adjusted in LA. I can’t blame him. Why transfer to the Spurs in drafty old England (no offense to the English folks but y’all KNOW about your weather) when he can be the biggest star in LA and the kids can grow up with lots of sunshine and time to play. I know he’s still very competitive but he wouldn’t have fit in at the current set-up of AC Milan (basically, all Ibrahimovich all the time) anyway.
    At PSG? Maybe, but again, weather and roots and all that.

    @.: we don’t care about “athletes from other countries.” they would be just athletes from other countries, not david beckham. duh.

    @omd:

    You’re an idiot. David isn’t American and the only reason why JJ posts about him is because he hangs around LA where paps are always at so it’s easy to get pictures of him. He sucks as a athlete.

    I don’t follow soccer so all of this discussion does not mean much. I am just glad we have Brit to inspire family values, while the rest of Hollywood is no more than ……
