OlderJulia Roberts & Matt Bomer Join Ryan Murphy's 'Normal Heart'
Julia Roberts, Matt Bomer, Alec Baldwin, and Jim Parsons have all joined the upcoming film The Normal Heart, according to THR.
The project, helmed by Glee co-creator Ryan Murphy, is based on the Tony Award-winning drama of the same name, which “details the rise of HIV/AIDS in New York’s gay community in the 1980s.”
Mark Ruffalo, who was already attached to The Normal Heart, will play Ned Weeks, while Matt plays his gay fashion journalist boyfriend.
Julia will play wheel chair bound doctor Emma Brookner, Alec will take on the role of Ned’s brother, a lawyer who struggles to accept his sexuality, and Jim co-stars as a Southerner who is a gay activist.
Brad Pitt‘s Plan B will be producing the flick.

OH MY GOD. I didn’t believe I could have a better news than Matt Bomer almost naked in Magic Mike but THIS is even greater. Love him, loved this play, and love Jim Parsons. Since I started stanning for Bomer I feel like I’m permanently in fan’s heaven and he keeps on making me stay there , THANK YOU !!!
It seems like Matt Bomer is reaching the same level of public and professional recognition as Baldwin, Roberts or Emmy/Golden Globes winner Parsons, he’s now as easily mentioned/promoted/wanted for projects as they are, that’s soooooo awesome !! I can’t wait to see this, the play was flawless so the standard for this movie are set very high.
AWESOME! I was so sad not being able to see the play, now I have a second chance with this movie, with Bomer as a huge bonus, so great !

Hmm It’s interesting JJ put Bomer’s name after Julia Roberts before Baldwin, because THR mention Baldwin first. This is so cunning, JJ I’m not complaining just how you think you can fool someone like @claire: ;)

Amazing cast. The day I saw Bomer on Chuck and then White Collar I knew he would be major star one day.
I totally predicted this: Matt Bomer plays a AIDS gay boyfriend. But I never thought this fast. I can’t wait the movie!

@max: @Lola: So funny peeps are only talking about tv stars. This is a producer Blad Pitt’s first movie, sure this is about gay/AIDS lol. I think the cast is nicely catchy, but some factors are so tricky since Murphy made it clear that *the leading role* is Julia Roberts LOL Because the real leading role in the script/play is a guy who Mark Ruffalo going to play.
Stellar cast. Matt will be incredible since he can do drama, comedy, action, anything perfect.

I love this group and hope Murphy makes it right. No worries on type casting for Matt or Jim. Matt is the worlds most handsome man with tons of talent will be around for quite a while. Jim is a great actor too. Both will do great things for years.

@Jerry: They got rid of those award winning/nominated casts for famous stars like Roberts, Bomer, Baldwin. Shame but let’s face it, this is Hollywood. Fame matters.
The Normal Heart was one of the most emotionally devestating performances I have ever seen. I find it difficult to imagine the honesty that flooded the Golden Theater every night last fall could ever be recreated in a film. Im sure it will be enjoyable, but I sense another Rent coming on. Certain stage productions, especially ones limited to next-to-nothing sets, don’t usually do well on the big screen. And producers have already youthified and beautified the cast (Yes, I know, it’s Hollywood). But best of luck to everyone involved!
This is obviously the big movie Matt was referring to in an interview the other day. Hugely exciting news that he has this major role, and I hope it puts his career into the stratosphere where it should be. He’s going to be amazing in it. Go Matt! <3
It’s too bad Diarrhea mouth CList actor Julia Roberts is in it.
She has a big dirty mouth with little teeny specs for deep set eyes and a big flabby fat body that would make any guy sick.

ontill Julia Roberts wore a Tee Shirt with “LOW VERA” written just below her little t.i.t.t.y tee line for ALL to see trying to make the already hurt Vera feel bad. Danny Moulder wanted to go back to his ex but Julia ran her off by announcing to DM’s parents she wanted to give Danny babies. The dirty HO wouldn’t let up Danny being unsure tried her on for size,, still wasn’t sure.
Julia’s big mouth tore that marriage apart, HOMEWRECKER that she is, let her body go to sh.i.t speaks like a truckdriver only to
to be a hypocrite . Go back to being a housekeeper,your days on the big screen bore the sh.i.t out of ppl who enjoy good movies. HOMEWRECKERS LIKE YOU JULIA ARE A DIME A DOZEN.
