Jim Carrey's Daughter Auditions for 'American Idol'

Check out Jim Carrey‘s daughter, Jane, auditioning on a recent episode of American Idol!

The 24-year-old aspiring singer, who’s a single mother and works as a waitress, sang Bonnie Raitt‘s “Something to Talk About” for judges Steven Tyler, Jennifer Lopez, and Randy Jackson.

“I used to work with Jim. I remember you when you were little! Do you remember me? I was one of the fly girls,” J. Lo, who worked with Jim on In Living Color, said.

Jane called her famous dad after getting the golden ticket to Hollywood. “She’s amazing. I can’t wait for the world to understand what she has,” Jim said on speakerphone.

I think if a contestant knows someone (particularly) a judge off the show..that would disqualify them from competing. Seriously are the going to be objective about a famous stars child? The others competing against her have no chance.

    Joee Says:

wow she has the same exact smile like his dad.

    ck Says:

If her name was Jane Smith, and her dad was a bus driver, would she be going to Hollywood?

    delia Says:

I disagree, she is working for it and not bedding some record producer to make it , and stay overexposed for years even when your fans are no longer buying your music with every undeserved award thrown at you.

    delia Says:

Carrey has the connections and money to buy her a career yet he is letting her do it on her own unlike some celebs that have everything handed to them…Paltrow, J&W Smiths, Stella Macca,…

    Mimi Says:

She was OK, but there’s no way she’ll be the next American Idol. I’d be shocked if she even makes it past Hollywood.

there is no way she has to. her dad is a gazillionaire.

OMG, almost in tears when she calls her dad in the end.
how proud and excited he must be.
and how nice to be a daughter and be able to share that good news with your parent.
    love it.

    Admire Says:

I admire that she would work in a job that most in hollywood would consider beneath them instead of clubbing doing drugs it builds character and shows nothing is taken for granted …Congrats to whoever raised her.

    Jennica Panettiere Says:

Yes, it’s lovely that she still works as a waitress even though her father has enough money to set her up for life. I understand that she probably wants to look down to earth and to me you can just tell she genuinely is.

    Jennica Panettiere Says:

Oh and yes she’s really pretty. She actually reminds me of Jaycee Dugard, that girl who was released from kidnap a few years ago.

    ellie' Says:

Shes so pretty and has some nice voice..

    Kate Says:

She’s very charismatic. I was glad she made it through just for the opportunity to see more of her. And like the above poster said, congrats to whomever raised her. She does seem very down to earth and un-jaded. As for her voice, it doesn’t seem to be up to par with the quality of an AI winner’s, but I agree there is some potential there to at least be given a round at Hollywood.

Ummmm, am I the only one who noticed all the Steve Carrell photos attached to that???

JIM CARREYS DAUGHTER IS A WAITRESS, WTF??????

JIM CARREYS DAUGHTER IS A WAITRESS, WTF??????
i mean he has like hundreds of million of dollars, you would think she would hae an education, or atleast he can open her a business, maybe use some connections, if i had that much money i would never let my child to work as a waitress and make minimum wage

  24. 24
    mason Says:

@Jennica Panettiere: it’s not noble to be a waitress when you come from money, it’s just dumb. it’s not like she is working at a homeless shelter or in greenpeace.
if she wanted to make $ on her own, she could have done something more productive like college or a lowly internship somewhere.

  25. 25
    TRP Says:

I’m sorry, but I don’t care who her dad is. She cannot sing.

  26. 26
    AVERY Says:

she is so pretty!!!!Good for her going this route and not just having her dad pay for her to make an album!!!!

  27. 27
    Cal Says:

Notice no one is calling her fat or skinny.
    She’s the perfect size.
She looks healthy and very pretty.
    Her skin is great.

  28. 28
    Hollie Says:

Why would Jim Carrey’s daughter work as waitress?

  29. 29
    political stunts Says:

Hard Work teaches discipline, character and makes you a grounded person with endless potential instead of a spoiled entitled govt. dependent, occupier.

  30. 30
    LaCroix Says:

How on earth could you not respect Jim Carrey & his daughter? Forget the singing ability..the story alone will get people rooting-voting for her.. The fact that her father could BUY her way into a record deal & they chose to allow her to actually work for it..earn it? Unlike all these other celebs that hand over stardom to their children? Great example Jim Carrey!

  31. 31
    She Stinks! Says:

Did JHO Bag start sucking up to her, when she realized who her dad was? She’s looking for a new rich man and will HO herself out to him and Casper. That is what HO’s do.

  32. 32
    omd Says:

@d: that’s the part i didn’t get either. it’s almost as if she wanted to fake her normalcy…but then she revealed it anyway so wtf?

  33. 33
    Elle Says:

Well maybe she dOesnt want to go to college. Im sure if she wantes to go to college her dad can pay for it. maybe she wants to work as a waitress while trying to be a singer?

  34. 34
    Kwarner Says:

Her speaking voice sounds exactly like Julia Stiles. So uncanny!

  35. 35
    fazz Says:

I like how she decided against the nepotistic route.

  36. 36
    Mad Says:

I’m sorry but… with the connections she’d have through her dad… she wouldn’t need a show like this to become a “singer”. Plus, she can sing, and does have talent. Sure she wants to “work for it” but American Idol is a joke. Why not become a signer the way you want to, without network TV?

  37. 37
    Caligirl Says:

@mila: I was wondering the exact same thing: Why is/was she a waitress??

  38. 38
    Lenpainter Says:

If they ever do a movie about Jaycee Dugard, Jane Carrey needs to play the adult Jaycee, if she can act.
