Rainn Wilson: 'Office' Spinoff Coming in 2013?

NBC is reportedly planning a spinoff around The Office featuring Rainn Wilson‘s character Dwight Schrute!

The show, which could premiere midseason 2013, would center around Dwight on the Schrute family beet farm and bed and breakfast, according to Deadline.

“[The Office executive producer Paul Lieberstein] and Rainn have been joking for years about Dwight’s life on the farm, his family and how ill-suited he is to run a B&B,” a source told the website, which says no deals have been closed just yet.

“A while ago, it started to feel like a show to them. NBC agreed, it’s been further developed to include multiple generations, many cousins and neighbors … At its base it will be about a family farm struggling to survive and a family trying to stay together,” added the source.

As much as I adore Rainn Wilson and am a fan of The Office, this idea doesn’t seem remotely interesting. Dwight Shrute is a phenomenal character, but only as he pertains to all the other phenomenal Office characters. I hope Rainn considers other projects!

I would watch in a heartbeat. Schrute Farms Bed & Beets. Would be nice to see The Office characters pop in for a stay like Jim and Pam did. “Table making never seemed so possible.”

Did we not learn anything from ‘Joey’?

I LOVE ‘The Office’, but this will be a disaster.
