lol, loved it! Really made me smile to see that. Good times.

The original movie is like a ferrari of movies.
This commercial is like a honda

See a honda is just so/so compared to a Ferrari.

Starting with a wonderful teaser, I’ve left a bit cold by the end product of Honda CR-V spot. Unfortunately, the only original and creative part of the ad is that it is based on the cult classic Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. That was a flash of genius.

Even thought the time is limited and the attention span of the web browsing population even more so, I do feel like the actual spot could have had more momentum in it, even if it had meant for the clip to be longer. Now, the spot has the taste of creative compromise written all over it, with no daring finesse at sight. It truly feels like a play it safe move by honda. This could also be the key reason the spot doesn’t have the emotional tie-in, that the last years ‘winner’ VW had with their Star Wars spot.

Being that the ad is a ‘hack-of’ of the Loved Ferris Bueller character, the spot will surely cause debate and gain exposure, but I highly doubt that it will cause an emotional tie with the Honda brand that would last longer than the Superbowl season – at least not a positive one.

A spot of promise never fulfilling the destiny it could have had. Unfortunate, but true.

Not only was there more than a reference to Ferris, there was more than a nod to “Election”. Duh, museum of Natural History. Even if it was in Los Angeles. In fact the entire spot was filmed in LA

This is sad and pathetic. I was a teen in the 80s and loved all the John Hughes movies. John captured thebera in a clever yet thoughtful and timeless way . This commercial is created by young, brainless corporate advertising jerks who are too stupid to come up with a clever concept. The crv looks beautiful and Matthew looks desperate and makes me feel old :)
