Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s oldest son, Maddox, is following in his parents’ adventurous footsteps. Cambodian-born Maddox, whom Angelina adopted in 2002, is already learning how to fly!

“Our 10-year-old is taking pilot lessons,” Brad told host James Lipton during his taping of Inside the Actor’s Studio in NYC on Jan. 31.

Angelina got her pilot’s license in 2005, and Maddox joined her last September as she flew the friendly skies in England. But Maddox will have plenty of time to practice before he can fly solo: The minimum age to get a pilot’s license is 17.

While Brad says he loves the freedom of flying, his biggest thrill is being a dad. “It’s the greatest adventure I’ve been on,” he says during the interview.

Watch Brad’s Inside the Actor’s Studio on Feb. 10 at 8 p.m. on Bravo.

I don’t think Brad’s going to win the Oscar either, but I don’t agree with the “why not”. Brad’s well-respected in the industry and I think people are genuinely happy for him that things have worked out with Angie and they’ve been able to create the family and the life that they have. I just don’t think he’s going to win because he doesn’t play the game to kill. He’s not behind the scenes wheeling and dealing like Harvey Weinstein – or schmoozing and boozing the old-timers the way Porgie does. He does the media work and the Q&A’s as requested by Sony…but he doesn’t have a publicist sitting around calling members and asking them if they’ve seen his film and if not to please consider watching it before voting – and yes, Porgie’s PR ho has done this in the past and is undoubtedly doing the same this year. Instead when not required to work – silly Brad is off enjoying time with Angie and their family or working on his charity projects. some of the old guard may interpret that as Brad doesn’t want to win badly enough to go all out in his campaign. What I think is going to happen is that, because it’s the entire Academy voting for the winners and not just the actors branch, Brad and Porgie are going to split the votes and Jean du Jardin is going to win with the Harvey push behind him. If not, Oldman is very well-respected outside of the actor’s branch and he could easily slip in there for the win – and people would be genuinely happy to see him win. And that’s really what the final push is about – the non-actors, ie, the technicians, producers, directors, cinematogrphers, etc. That’s where Harvey has the greatest influence – the people he can promise future work to in exchange for their vote.

I agree with Lylian he and Ange are fortunate ,they literally have it all and all those haters wont give Brad what he deserves but that doesnt matter cause Paul Newman , Gary Oldman have shamelessly not received one but Clooney and BRODY have ..

Paul Newman DID win a Best Actor Oscar. He won in 1986 for The Color of Money where he, and Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio. schooled Tiny Tom on acting. That’s one of the few Tiny Tim flicks I willingly paid money to see – only because Paul Newman was reprising his role of Fast Eddie Felson from The Hustler.
    .
As for Adrian Brody’s Best Actor win – have you seen The Pianist? He effin’ killed it. The year he won he beat out Academy faves Daniel Day-Lewis (Gangs of New York) and Jack Nicholson (About Schmidt), Michael Caine (The Quiet American) – and the last time Nicolas Cage could be bothered to even attempt to act (Adaptation). Personally I find Adrian Brody to be a disappointment. He’s got SO much talent…and his agent either sucks or he’s just not giving it all in his auditions because he hasn’t had a decent role since The Pianist. On a personal level he’s starting to look a little too douchey. Dude really needs to ease up on the smirking…

I really want Brad to win. I’m a fan and that is what fans want. But if he doesn’t win he is in a very talented group of actors that should have won but didn’t. It’s always interesting to me to see where actors and actresses are years after the win. Are they still relevant. Are they still making quality films. Are they still in their A game. You can be a ONE HIT wonder. I would rather if the choice was for Brad not win if the quality of his work continues to be on the path it is now; in front of the camera and behind.

I just see him getting better and better. I just think for many actors and we could all make a very long list.. the Oscar becomes the period on their work. Not for all of them obviously.. but for a vast number. Then you wonder if it was the Actor or the Role..

Brad is smart and makes amazing choices. I can’t wait to see what he does in the future.

According to cross-eyed Lainey, Brad briefly discussed Gwyneth Paltrow in relation to Se7en on Inside The Actors Studio, Maniston did not come up at all.

Brad forgave Putrid a long time ago – as soon as she publicly admitted that SHE was the one who effed up their relationship. She’s a blip on his radar and has spoken to her for years so I’m not surprised he would mention her in reference to a movie he made with her. But…talk about their relationship? Never again – and she knows that. That’s why she’s forever bringing him up in HER interviews. Ticky gets similar treatment – he may reference his life during the time he was with her but he NEVER directly mentions Ticky’s name unless someone specifically asks about her because he’s obliquely called her a dullard and co-doughnut. The fact that Lamey is so happy about Brad saying Putrid’s name is really pretty pathetic. If Lamey’s that happy…can you just imagine who thrilled Putrid is? She’s probably doing the Happy Dance and taunting Christ Martin, “Brad said my name in public and we haven’t been together in 15 years…and there’s nothing you can do about it! NA NA NA NA NA NA NA!”

OMG…I remember when Brad and Angie were taking flying lessons in France when she was pregnant with Shiloh. We jokingly said that Maddox would be taking flying lessons by the time he was 10. Damn…we’re good. LOL. I’m sure Pax will be next in 2 years. And then in a little over 4 years Shiloh will be 10 (scary, right?) and I’m sure she’ll be wanting to take lessons, too. Damn…I really don’t see why Brad and Angie won’t adopt ME…

I’d love to see Brad win the Oscar, but I just don’t think Moneyball is an Academy-friendly movie. For one thing – it’s not showy enough and, as Brad pointed out, there’s no character arc, epiphany or big dramatic ending. The other thing I think is working against Brad is the fact that Sandra Bullock won 2 years ago for another movie based on a Michael Lewis book. That’s a silly thing but nobody ever said the Academy was above silliness.
    .
ITA with you about being interested in seeing where past winners are now. There have been so many one-offs – actors who came out of the blue and who’s previous body of work hasn’t exactly portended an Oscar win, ie, see Halle Berry, Reese Witherspoon, Adrian Brody, Jamie Foxx, Forest Whitaker, Natalie Portman, Sandra Bullock, Marion Cotillard, Hillary Swank’s first win, Helen Hunt and Putrid. Where are these people’s career’s today? Aside from Hillary Swank not one of them has even come close to another nomination and in the majority of their cases no hit movies either. Hillary Swank’s won 2 Oscars yet her career these days is a flat line because she’s hellbent on doing films that she thinks are Oscar-bait. Helen Hunt was a tv actress who made 2 good theatrical movies and got lucky. Reese Witherspoon was a romcom girl who got the dranatuc role of a lifetime and hasn’t been able to capture ligntning in a bottle since then – either with a drama or a comedy. Natalie Portman? Puh-leeze. Let’s not even go there. Foxx, Whitaker and Brody – all victins if the role of a lifetime fluke like RW. Until recently Halle was one of the winners who’d worked steadily and consistently but her opportunities have dried up due to being over 40 and being black.
    .
And, of course, a lot of the women have been stricken by the Best Actress Winner Bad Luck Curse – divorces, baby daddy dramas, husband caught up in a sex scandal, etc. Sometimes winning the Best Actress award is detrimental to your career AND personal life. Then there’s the fact that the opportunities for women in films just as a thick on the ground as they are for men. That’s why so many actors start their own production companies, but it’s harder for women to get funding than it is for men, so even if they’re developing their own projects, unless they’ve got a good box office track record, it’s an uphill battle that’s mostly unwinnable.
