Clive Davis Grammy Party Still On After Whitney Houston's Death

Clive Davis‘ annual party, held the Saturday night before the Grammy Awards, is back on this evening following the shocking death of Whitney Houston.

“It’s still on,” a rep for the party tells JustJared.com.

“They are trying to pull together a memorial of sorts for grieving,” adds another source. “But they are trying to turn away as many people as possible.”

Whitney was to attend the party at the Beverly Hilton Hotel this evening. She was found unresponsive in her hotel room this afternoon and was later pronounced dead at the age of 48.

I keep waiting for them to say it was a sick joke but I guess it’s true…I bet Clive is taking it pretty hard as well to cancel the entire pre-Grammy party. My condolences go out to the family, a true legend has been lost today.

Think of all the wonderful talent we have lost in the last few decades! How much more we would have gained. Seems like more here lately! I can’t help but think about her daughter and all she has gone through with her mom getting clean then losing her again. She seemed wise beyond her years in the interview Oprah did with Whitney and her daughter. Hope Bobby doesn’t get that girl!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

wow oh wow….why is that lately,,we are losing the TOP music people one after another,,,micheal, amy, now whitney…..it better make the rest that are let,,think twice now,,about their lives…and what they want their future history to be. a great but fast dead singer/songwriter?..or someone like chuck berry and little richard,,who have gone through more than they will ever ever see and do,,and survive. and be around to say,,,hey..i MADE IT.

Drug addiction is almost impossible to get over. Very sad. She was amazing. I’m glad the party is canceled- no need to celebrate. There better be an amazing tribute tomorrow- and no not by Katy Perry or some loser. Beyonce, Jennifer Hudson, and Mariah need to tribute her and Ms.Etta.

Clive must be devastated. He created all the imagery that went along with Whitney’s rise to fame. This is so sad. I was just on LA gossip site and saw pictures of Whitney after a Kelly Price event. She didn’t look great but THAT bad either. How are you gonna have the Grammy’s tomorrow like everything is alright? I grew up with Whitney’s music. That was the standard for me for all future singers. Gosh..RIP Whitney.

Isn’t the daughter 18 or 19? She is an adult and won’t have to “go with” anyone. She’ll have plenty of money to live on without her dad’s help.

If it’s due to drugs, then it’s Bobby Brown’s fault. F**k him. I hope he goes to hell.

Very poor editorial guidelines form, on Just Jared’s end, to update this article by scrubbing pretty much the entire original version that said the Davis party was canceled.

You should have kept original article text, and updated further at bottom. Please look into more stringent, solid guidelines for article correction.

i just looked at a video of her making her debut on Merv Griffin with Clive Davis. She was so cute and so innocent. It seems like superstardom is just too much for some people.

You have to have good people in your life to keep you. Maybe some people’s emotional make up make them a bad fit for superstardom. Maybe mega stardom is not such a good concept…………….it sells records, but at what price to a persons life. Do you even know who you are anymore after megastardom….?……….Look at Elivis, Michael, Whitney, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin. Its just too much for some people.

Whitney did indeed have it all, articulate, physically attractive, and absolutley beautiful voice. God rest your soul Whitney. I hope you made peace with God before you left.

This world is not a user friendly environment for the righteous, the poor, and the young.
And for most who are in between these categories. Sometimes being rich and famous and having exceptional talents doesn’t negate this world
‘s unfriendly forces that proffer destruction and catastrophe, when ever the opportunity to do so presents itself. It is apparent that poor Whitney was never protected from theses forces of evil by her marriage , her family or her friends. Not to assume that she ever sought their protection but in any case , evidently it never manifest. But now I’m sure she will be protected for evermore where it will really counts, in eternity. RIP Sweet Whitney…You brought a lot of joy to our ears. BoogieP

    Janice26 Says:

These people are disgusting and there is absolutely no excuse whatsoever for that party to continue.

In a normal situation without a famous person, the police would have usually made them cancel this party being that it was so close in proximity to there investigation so to me they intentionally disrespected her family.

I can’t even believe they had the audacity to ask her family something like that within the short period of time they had between her passing and the party. They were still trying to take in what was going on and you’re asking them about a party?????Like for real???

Anyone that step foot in that party is a low life piece of trash and disregarded the feelings of her family. How do you think her daughter felt pulling up to the hotel to go and see if her Mother is really passed while seeing her Mothers so called friends walk down a red carpet glitz and glammed taking photos???????? No excuse it was beyond disrespectful.
