Alicia Keys' Etta James Grammys Tribute with Bonnie Raitt - Watch Now!

Alicia Keys and country legend Bonnie Raitt present the first award of the evening at the 2012 Grammy Awards held at Staples Center on Sunday (February 12) in Los Angeles.

The duo, who gave the Best Pop Solo Performance award to Adele for “Someone Like You,” sang “Sunday Kind of Love,” a tribute to the late Etta James.

“As we were reminded just yesterday, when a truly great artist leaves us, their legacy lives on,” Alicia said, referencing the passing of Whitney Houston the previous evening.

“We love you, Etta! We love you, Whitney! We’ll never forget you,” Alicia and Bonnie said in unison at the end of the performance.

Amazing!!! Thank God Christina didnt get asked to do it! She would have ruined the entire thing! These ladies have class and it was beautiful

Absolutey breathtaking! I’m also glad Xtina wasn’t there to ruin it with her awful singing, Alicia and Bonnie did it right! Etta would be proud. Very classy

Now THAT is how you pay tribute to a legend!
Well done!

Love these ladies voices. They both did a great job and I loved how Alicia also included Whitney in the tribute. Beautiful.

That was beautiful!

Sheesh, another reporter gets ity wrong again, Bonnie Raitt is not “country”, she is a BLUES artist, always has been.

woow, that was highly boring and not in Ettas spirit at all.
Xtina would have brought it justice, she did when she was 8, and would have done it today.

The funeral performance by Christina was highly moving, and Etta would be proud.

And how rude it was to put shadow on Etta focusing on Whitney. Didn´t she have her own tribute??

I don’t like homewreckers. Could have done without Alicia Keys.

@moth: I can’t believe you just made that statement. Whitney just passed the day before. Lots of people mentioned her also and Alicia was very close to her. This is not something to complain about. Etta got her due tribute with them singing one of her songs. Don’t begrudge that someone mentioned her name.

@Lilian:
You should be ashamed. Alicia gave a beautiful tribute to Etta and she is not a homewrecker. She is one of the most special people in the world. So compassionate and caring. She doesn’t deserve any of the nasty negative accusations some people are making about her. I love both these ladies. They did a terrific job.

Bonnie some of the Best talent live on the entire show. Effortless talent, and no need for over the top production. Alicia was good but does better with studio production.

While Adele is good…I do not think she is great enough for 6 Grammy’s.

Etta James was a legend. Whitney could have been.

@moth:

I have to totally agree with you!

@yoko: Oh yea? Adele deserved every single Grammy she received. I wouldn’t have minded if she had received more. I hope she receives more next year. Her album is one of the best I’ve heard in a long time and her voice is so beautiful and strong. If you’ve never listened to any other songs on that album but the one they played most often you are really missing something. That woman can sing! And she doesn’t even seem to be aware just how great she is. Makes her that much more lovable.
Alicia wasn’t only good, she was magical and beautiful. That is another woman that can sing and even though she was close to Whitney she still pushed on and gave what everyone expected from her, a very beautiful and touching performance. She is the best.
I agree Bonnie is effortless in her singing and is definitely a great singer.
