Sophia Grace & Rosie - Grammys 2012 Red Carpet

Sophia Grace Brownlee and her hype girl Rosie walk the red carpet at the 2012 Grammy Awards held at Staples Center on Sunday (February 12) in Los Angeles.

Sophia, 8, and Rosie, 5, found out that they were going to be attending the biggest night in music to interview the stars during an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show earlier in the week.

During the appearance, Sophia sang her version of Keri Hilson‘s “Turn My Swag On” and even added her own rap! Check out the super cute performance below…

@tan: Ellen puts her name on everything, you’re just narrowing in on this because they’re children when really, it’s not Ellen blatantly promoting herself – she doesn’t need to – it’s just a bit of fun. Don’t you see all the Ellen themed gifts she gives to her guests? Don’t you see how excited those girls are about being on the show and meeting celebrities? They aren’t being pushed into anything and it’s all a bit of fun. People are so sensitive.

Seriously? My almost five year old is still listening to and enjoying nursery rhymes, having play dates, going to preschool and learning how to write her letters, etc. I do not play pop or rap music to her nor can I imagine why I would want to expose a five year old child to that type of music at that age. She doesn’t even know what rap is. We have more important things to teach her than the words to songs which are age inappropriate. These little girls are going to be majorly messed up.

It’s the songs they are singing that are a problem, the girls are adorable. This is a quote from someone in the media and I totally agree. “Sophia Grace is eight and Rosie is only five, yet their entire career is founded upon a cover of Nicki Minaj’s “Super Bass.” No kid their age should be listening to Minaj. Period. There’s no debate about it. Her lyrics are vulgar and demeaning, and elementary-aged children aren’t mature enough to discern pop culture from reality. In addition to Super Bass, they’ve also sung Minaj’s “Moment 4 life” and “Starships,” and recently the two girls branched out with dirty pop song, “Domino” by Jessie J (if that song isn’t explicit about it’s sexual message, I don’t know what song is).”

You actually think they’re giving Grammy’s a good image? Do you see little girls running around at Oscar? They’re ruining the show! They’re bad example for kids out there, to pursue materialistic and shallow dreams and not focus on what’s important to them, like education.
I’ve never loved Nicki Minaj more when she told them they should focus on studying first.

    and then… this is annoying…
