Nicki Minaj's Grammys Performance - Watch Now!

Nicki Minaj's Grammys Performance - Watch Now!

Nicki Minaj levitates during her performance at the 2012 Grammy Awards held at Staples Center on Sunday (February 12) in Los Angeles.

The 29-year-old rapper kicked it off by confessing the lyrics to her new single, “Roman Holiday,” while sitting next to The Pope, the same man she walked with on the red carpet earlier in the evening.

The performance, called “The exorcism of [Nicki's alter ego] Roman,” was choreograhed by Laurieann Gibson and featured religious imagery, pyrotechnics, and backup dancers dressed as monks.

“OMG @ that chris brown performance. >>>>>>>> SHUT DOOWWWNNNN,” Nicki tweeted about another one of the night’s performers.

    Matt Valdez Says:

I liked the performance a lot. I think you need to know about Nicki and her character Roman to really get it. There was a lot of backlash, but people said the same exact things about Lady Gaga’s Paparazzi performance at the VMAs and now everyone looks back on how amazing it was (and it was).

And I find it extremely ironic that Laurie Ann Gibson quit working for Lady Gaga because she was against the religious imagery and believed in the scripture and “didn’t want to be struck by God.”

No, Matt. The difference between the two is that Lady Gaga’s performance is actually good, regardless of content.

Quit trying to make this about religion. It’s not like Minaj took crosses, lit them on fire, and made out with Jesus on the altar. Madonna did that in the 80s, and it was a lot better. This performance performance just isn’t good in general.

The only weird thing about this performance was the Roman priest. Really strange and uncomfortable to watch.

    Amanda Says:

BLEH! She would be so lost without Gaga’s influence. I know nothing is original, but I can tell you that Nicki Manaj is the least original of them all. Everytime I see her, I just see Lady Gaga done wrong. Gaga stands for something and she is passionate about everything little oddity she throws out there. Nicki, however, no. She just wants her 15 minutes of fame. Doesn’t this video sorta remind you of “Alejandro”? (Done badly, of course.)

  36. 36
    ..... Says:

If anyone actually paid attention, the whole performance makes sense…. Nicki minaj is performing as “roman” her alter ego that is a gay male. “he” is confessing, and according to most religions it is a sin to be gay. So they’re trying to “exorcise” him to make straight… and she’s not speaking in tongue. you can clearly hear a word every time she or the back track talks… except for a few grunts. The backtrack is “roman’s mother martha” telling him he needs to take some meds and go away until he is better. I’m not saying the performance was good and all I’m just explaining it….

  37. 37
    Wow Says:

Horrible. No one should credit her at all for this garbage. Mocking the Pope, stain glass, alter boys being sexualized by dancing women, kneeling alter, choir singing oh come o thee faithful or whatever in devilish cloaks, then the church goes up in flames and she rejoices? Wow. Just disgusting. I swear, her and the people who fund her are laughing at all her fans… those she has left, and saying those idiots… look we can do anything and they STILL like you. People just gobble up anything they are spoon fed. Sad really. People are so enamored by fame and power that they follow someone as talentless as this. Total crap and the grammies owes a HUGE apology for allowing that to air.

Ya know I know Im gonna get a lot a thumbs down here, but…I didn’t…hate this. I mean really guys, yes you don’t like this performance, and yes she may have been trying a bit too hard, but it wasn’t complete garbage. Knowing what I know about Nicki, I do think she was trying to hard to be controversial and be talked about, but…the performance wasn’t complete and utter garbage and I think she was just trying to be entertaining. I’m not gonna start making speculations and says she was copying GaGa, but really it wasn’t the worst thing. Attention whoring: yes. Complete and total garbage without any kind of entertaining value whatsoever if you open your mind up: no.

    Eric Says:

Nicki seems to be doing the same exact thing as Lady Gaga. They both try WAY too hard to get noticed and try WAY too hard to be different. I’m a fan of Gaga and I like a couple of Nicki songs (overall not a fan of Nicki, though), but let’s face it, both of them put on terrible performances. Gaga was pretty good when she first started. The things she did, the clothes she wore, and the performances she put on here overall pretty cool. Now she has taken that and brought it a whole different level: Stupid. Maybe if both Nicki and Gaga actually got up there and showed people their actual talent, then they would put on great performances. You don’t need huge theatrics to put a great performance. In fact, most of the time when artists do they Nicki and Gaga do, they end up being terrible performances and they look like they are trying too hard to get noticed. I prefer artists basically getting on stage and showing us fans why we love them and showing us their talents. Instead artists like Gaga and Nicki have to get on stage and try to pull off some huge theatrical performance to show they are new and interesting, which doesn’t ever work because they end up failing every single time. Nicki can actually sing and if she would stop with the ridiculous crappy rap songs, then she would be a great artist. And if Gaga stopped trying to surprise everybody with something new and ridiculous every time she goes out, then maybe she could be as great as she was when she first started. Both try way too hard and basically do things just to surprise the audience. All that does, at least for me, is start to hate them and it makes me irritated.

I’m offended at the fact that she’s become careless about her music. Like the author states, “but it’s unclear exactly how we’re supposed to feel about Nicki Minaj (or her alter ego Roman Zolanski) once it ended.” I feel like her past 3 singles about Roman were just thrown at us and we would just sit there and ask, “what is this?”. That’s the offensive thing about her songs and this performance… Anyone claiming offense because of the religious imagery is more of a loon than the people who put this performance together… It clearly wasn’t saying anything about religion… it was about an exorcism, and although it was stupid, I don’t think it was hard to understand. The song was fine… like it wasn’t bad, but… what’s the point? That’s all i really have to say.

I am not talking about gay rights as their are so many other issues in society that this performance can address. So live in your bubble, turn your eyes in disgust, but we all know the reality. I am not a hugh fan of Minaj because shes a little off putting. I do see sparks of artist expression in her performance that makes me smile. Beside, I like how she really gets into the role.. She would make a great actress!! Or maybe shes not acting which is hilarious. P.S wish there was a performance by The Band Perry – If I die Young as a tribute to all the lost artist this years.. Capitalism is destroying the arts. When the goal is to find someone, layer them with marketing gimicks, image gimicks and auto tune, use an aggressive “push” marketing strategy to force them upon the masses who, being sheep, buy only because it’s popular, and when this project cycle is always successful and turns a quick profit before the artist is dropped for the next person…what do you expect?

American music isn’t music; it’s image. It’s crap. The only way to make it change is to push back, to refuse and to be loud about it. When industry people realize there’s a market for people who are actually talented, they may start looking for quality musicians.

    Paulski Says:

“We are living in a time where people like Adele could sing two notes and win 5 Grammys for shame ! It’s ashame that everyone acts as if race is not and issue”

    - ahem – Clearly your memory doesn’t stretch all the way back to 2010 “Beyoncé, who also received the most nominations, with ten, won a total of six awards breaking the record for most wins by a female artist in one night”. Now remind me what race Beyonce is. So maybe race isn’t n issue.

People are up in arms about the performance mostly because it was awful. Yes a lot have been upset by the Catholic aspect (which lets face it has been down to death now by female performers), but the performance itself was shoddy – bad singing, bad music and unoriginal to the extreme. Personally, as an atheist the religious overtones don’t upset me from a belief aspect, but from a “quality” aspect it was awful.
I think a number of people there could do with listening to Dave Grohl’s acceptance speech closely.

    Paulski Says:

“I agree with you 100%! If lady gaga did it, there would be nothing but praise. It’s because she’s talented, black and hot….they hate that.”

Gaga has done it, she did the “controversial” catholic imagery a while back. Feel free to read the comments

Interesting to note that there is an awful lot of comments that aren’t “nothing but praise”, and that many of the criticisms aimed at her (unoriginal, to much foccus on style over content etc.) are identical to those being aimed at Minaj. This has nothing to do with race and everything to do with putting out lazy, unoriginal music that appeals to the lowest common denominator.

WTF was that. Has this chick absolutely lost her f’n mind. Who’s consulting on this BS. And I’m sorry, did they not give any consideration that this type of performance the night after the world just lost a music icon, might be a little – I don’t know – OFF. This is just bad PR.

Not to mention the song is stupid as ****. One wonders, in this land of one hit wonders, how this is going to affect the rest of her career. I wouldn’t be shocked to watch it spiral out of control. Dummy.

  107. 107
    Cassandra Says:

Ok, I get it. “Roman” her alter ego is gay (stated by Minaj herself) and I’m assuming that this was all about how Catholics think it’s not okay to be gay and they try to give medication or they say that the person is possessed by a demon and this is all about how gays are ridiculed by religious groups. Overdone, yes I think so. Massive creep factor, absolutely. It practically gave me nightmares.

    Paulski Says:

    @Lady T:

Whilst i think that the performance was garbage i don’t agree with Rays comments of censoring any who may “offend”. Additionally it is apparent that you find it offensive because of your beliefs, although in the interest of fairness it should be added that many people feel that the parts of religion that this performance attacked is equally offensive – that of claiming that homosexuality is wrong, or that it is some form of “disease”, and that mental illness or behaviour that falls outside of the “norm” is a religious issue and can be treated by exorcism.

Not condoning the performance, as i though it was awful, but to spout off about censoring because something is offensive is a bit rich. The Church should be as open to criticism as any other establishment, and recent events have proven how dangerous suppressing any type of criticism can be.

  115. 115
    TWW Says:

What’s confusing about Nicki Minaj’s performance? She performed The Exorcism of Roman. Or was that unclear with the title, and the mini video?
If you’re upset about this, then in retrospect you should also be mad at EVERY other single exorcism movie for the matter. Exorcisms involve the church, and priest. get over yourselves, and step your analytical skills up.

@zeeessss: Now we know why Gaga fired Laurieann Gibson. This piece was an incoherent mess. I guess Gibson isn’t nearly the genius she thinks she is because this was awful. I don’t understand why people are so upset about this. How is this controversial?.. It’s not like the Catholic Church has been entirely innocent in the past. It’s actually quite the opposite. Has anyone ever thought that Nicki is making a statement about how people believe that being ‘exorcised’ could ‘take the gay out’ of someone? I mean… Roman IS her ‘gay male alter ego’… All I see is ignorant Catholic comments calling her the demon and pure evil and such. And really, I’m sure if she was the ‘demon’ she’d be doing a lot worse. Please screw your head on straight.

If we all reflect on the Beach Boys, Glen Campbell, and other bands, musicians from our history, the music was so pleasant, mellow, happy and influenced our society in a sweeter way. This song/act represents the darkness that surrounds us. Nicki is capable of so much more and this truly disappoints me. KellyfanofNiiki Says:

Why is this such a bad performance? I’ve seen worst from other artist, including Lady Gaga. This was fun, it wasn’t at all about the singing, but about the acting. If it was on broadyway you would accept it being part of a musical or stage play, because she would be part of a “cast”, playing a character, right? Because it’s the “Grammys”, it’s a problem? Yes the Grammys is about muisc, but things has changed over the years. WE HAVE ALL SEEN WORSE PERFORMANCES AT THE GRAMMYS EVEN BEFORE NIKKI CAME AROUND. I loved it. Niiki is nothing like Lady Gaga, she’s not trying to upstage her at all. Before they were stars, I’m sure they both had a vision and dream of what they wanted to be as artist and it turns out that they so happen to have similar taste in their performances, and what they want to potray themselves as; which is being psychotic/crazy. She’s a great entertainer and rapper, she is Niiki Minaj. None of you can perform like that I bet. You guys missed the whole idea of the performance. Just because she grew up in the “ghetto”, she shouldn’t be accepted as an artist? And why are you comparing her to Adele and Whitney and other artist, they are not the same people. And to you atheist, you can just stop defending the catholic church, because that religion is filled with sin. Don’t pretend to pay respect to what you don’t believe in. Niiki Minaj always had a passion not just for rapping, but acting as well and she will do well in films playing any role. You guys are so mean.

I don’t understand why people keep going on about Whitney Houston’s death and this video. I don’t see how something that was clearly choreographed pre Houston’s death and in no way relates to it could be seen as in anyway relating to it. Its not like she was signing in the bath or anything.

“If we all reflect on the Beach Boys, Glen Campbell, and other bands, musicians from our history, the music was so pleasant, mellow, happy and influenced our society in a sweeter way”

I’m sorry but this is ridiculous, lets look at some of that “mellow and happy” music eh – how about the Protest and anti establishment of Dylans “Hurricane”, The Who’s “My Generation”,or Gil Scott Herons “the revolution will not be televised” the drug overtones of Beatles “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds” or The Stranglers “Golden Brown”, the anti religion of John Lennon’s “imagine” of Stevie Wonders “Superstition”. There has always been controversial music, and I’m glad that it exists, in fact i would say that there is not enough of it – Public Enemy released Fear of a Black Planet 20 years ago, Scott-Herons released his aforementioned song 30 years ago – and where are we now, a bunch of rappers boasting about how much money they have and how they hate other black musicians.
I applaud Minaj for attempting to point out the hypocrisy of the Catholic church that on one hand preaches love whilst on the other attacking love if it is between two men, if that was her approach. However it was done in such an awful ham-fisted, unoriginal way that any message was lost under a tidal wave of unoriginal mindless excrement, and i fear this had much more to do with appearing “controversial” then attempting to put across any message.
For me the most controversial and thought provoking section of the whole night was Grohl’s acceptance speech attacking style over substance, auto tune and musicians who are created by others rather then themselves. It was clear concise and well thought out, the same cannot be said of Minaj’s performance.

Yes, this was choreographed and produced before Whitney’s death, but have some common decency and respect to EDIT the act and wait til Halloween to show it!! Now, maybe the audience would have an appetite for this ???
I mentioned Beach Boys, Glen Campbell, and such due to they were the entertainers last night and personally are feel good musicians for the public. Don’t get me wrong, Dylan, Beatles, Pink Floyd, are true musicans and produce valuable music to the audience.

Personally, I frown upon Minaj for her expression of prejudices within the Catholic church:( Completely wrong, disrespectful, and continues to divide and anger the public. If you look around you and take a survey, the majority of the people do NOT agree with her distasteful performance last night. It definitely grabbed attention in a NEGATIVE way.
Agree with you on the statement made by Grohl from the Foo Fighters. It’s truly the talent and the creativity behind the music. Truly, MUSIC is defined by the HEART AND SOUL, added bonus is the gift from God and that is the voice!!

    Marie Says:

The Grammys, like the Oscars, can be quite boring, but these events are to be classy and not a time to show the world how ridiculous and untalented you really are. Gone are our classy soulful singers who command respect as they give it. People like Patty Labelle, Gladys Knight, Chaka Khan. One night a year and you can’t pull out anything classy, that’s tacky. Niki believes that her weirdness is what will drive her music sales, and in a sick way it probably will, but I know I will never spend a dime on any of her music. And for those who do….wow so you want a bunch of weirdos to buy your music and you’re proud of that. Love LL Cool J, and thank god for Adele and Jennifer Hudson because they were worth watching and brought some class to an event that you expect a little more conservationism and elegance. Niki can find other venues that will allow her to entertain that mess but I hope the Grammys never have her back.

  213. 213
    Where is the rock? Says:

This performance was absolutely ridiculous. The fact that they even allow crap like this on TV period is beyond me. I thought the Grammy’s had class. All they ever show anymore is this god awful crap that nobody in their right mind wants to watch.

Wow. That was painful to watch. Would have been ok if the lyrics were good since the video SUCKED, but neither happened. I think she let fame get to her head. Just because you’re famous doesn’t mean spitting out **** sounds good.

But for some reason, now it doesn’t matter how talented you are, just how weird or “shocking” you can be. gets to a point where nothing is shocking and they’re all just clones. please bring back the talent…and thank you to the few talented performers we still see out there, even if you don’t get the attention you deserve due to horrible performances like this stealing the attention…

I usually like Nicki but this is why Adele swept the Grammy’s last night because music lovers are starved for simple, unadulterated talent. We are sick of this- I’ll think of anything to try and ‘shock’ the world-garbage. Madonna did it and it at least felt genuine from her because sheactually had a past in the church and had an ax to grind, even though I didn’t agree with her but this crap is just attention seeking at its worst.

  225. 225
    LilMissGuidette Says:

See I didn’t watch the Grammys last night and I was wondering after looking at photos, why she was dressed like a dark nun with some guy dressed like the Pope around her arm (which erked me big time). And now after watching this video of her performance I just want to puke. I love her music but this is too much. I don’t know what her true view on various religions are but whether one believes in God or not you gotta know when to draw the line. Our freedom of expression has truly been abused. She pulled a Gaga with this performance, speaking of who is another big-time offender.

Ughhh people so quick to judge. This was a GOOD performance. if you dont like Nicki then you wouldnt like it no matter what she did. But this was different, and entertaining. The only thing i wish is that she didnt sing as much, shes really pitchy and if it was less demonic and religious and more fantasy (Zombies, Vampires, etc.) because people allready have mixed decisions allready about that stuff. So Nicki . . . you get an A- for this one.

So you lose some fans, teenyboppers, middle Americans, religious zealots along the way, no biggie. Stay the course and be true to yourself. True, her performance was self indulgent, pretentious, and heavy handed, but I’ll take someone failing on a massive scale doing something different over someone playing it safe and nice and bland.

Nicki Minaj, Super Bass was awesome. This crap you pulled on the Grammy’s put you off of any of my playlists. You are mocking religion. Please read the BIBLE, God will punish you for this. The money may be rolling in now but after that, who knows what will happen to you. Nicki should observe Adele, she is simple and sings with no effort, she is a true artist. Also the Foo Fighters who stated they did their last song, which won an award in their garage, no computers, ect, they used their real talent………Nickie, needs to watch and learn……..get a life.

  251. 251
    Not bad at all! Says:

Nicki Minaj is performing what she see’s as art. Art shouldn’t be censored, judged nor codemned. And if that was ever to happen, then art would no longer be a beatuful thing.
I think the song was good, the lyrics made complete sense for her character “Roman” and the performance made sense as well. Minaj has never been known for taking herself or her art very seriously and she has certainly never been known for her subtlety.
Her outfit was tasteful, the dancers were not gyrating and nearly having sex on the stage as some performers like their dancers to do and she censored her lyrics tastefully.
If you don’t get it, fine. If you don’t like the song, ok. But if you don’t have the decency to respect her right to share her art with the world, shame on you. Maybe you should take a look in the mirror and look in the bible.
As an aetheist to the Christians who condemn this artist and her work, I quote your good book.
    John 8:7
“He stood up and said to them, ‘Let him who is without sin among you be the first to throw a stone at her.’”

  253. 253
    ummmm..... Says:

song wasn’t actually that bad but the acting/video can be deliberated about but can not understand why so many people are just hating on her, people say they had to watch her proformance becuase of the grammy awards, they could have just equally put there TV on mute and waited until her profomance was over. Personally any music video that has any form of religious meaning towards it will have a negative impact as in any religion it deserves respect but honestly the video was quite interesting/entertaining and anyway’s isn’t an exocism meant to be slightly denomic…. maybe she’s just portraying it in then proformance and does it not resemble the movie exorcist……. some people need to relax and move on and stop hating.

“Yes, this was choreographed and produced before Whitney’s death, but have some common decency and respect to EDIT the act and wait til Halloween to show it!”

Why? Genuinely – what on earth did the act have to do with Whitney Houston – in what way could it have been seen to have related to the life and Struggles of Ms Houston?

“If you look around you and take a survey, the majority of the people do NOT agree with her distasteful performance last night”

And if you took a poll at the time of the Beatles Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds a lot of people would have found its drug references distasteful, same goes for Lennon’s Imagine (and lets not forget his bigger then Jesus comment), most Protest songs of the 60s, even Wouldn’t it be Nice by the Beach Boys was considered to explicit for radio play by some stations when it was first released. I believe controversial music has an important place, and i agree with some of the points Minaj was allegedly trying to get across, however its important to notice the one common denominator with the others that i have mentioned – they were good – Minaj’s performance was not, which made it all the more offensive, because if you are going to do something controversial, and something that may upset, then you have to make sure its worth it and looks as though there has been time, effort, thought and talent that has gone into it. Minaj was missing most of these. I don’t find what she said offensive, but i do think the slap dash way in which she did it was.

let’s focus on the first fact that Nicki has the voice of an elephant.
let’s focus on the second fact that we have a rapper trying to sing.
let’s focus on the third fact that she relied on stage performance to cover up the first and second fact.
let’s focus on the fourth fact that IT WAS an attack on religion. it may have been an exorcism in progress, but you do not go about that approach.
let’s focus on the fifth fact that her “movement”s on stage comprised of being shackled to a slab of wood and “levitating”.
let’s focus on the sixth fact that Nicki’s lyrics were barely audible. I can’t tell you a single sentence that was part of her song.
let’s focus on the seventh fact that there is a reason this song is being bashed: Because it is genuinely bad.
People don’t need to offer proof of a poor performance, lyrics, and voice, the proof is blatantly obvious.

its actually very important that She has gotten your attention, and responses applause,in that whitneys release from her position has something to do with the next one to fill her shoes, and yes its a BLACK thing, with all the furor about don cornelius ex wife getting the insurance and the etta james being somehow linked in to the celebrity drug cultures and supported by the industry, that drug of choice that gives them the drive and power to become fully functional addicts and pull it off on stage before the world’s adoring masses….it is interesting to say the least, why niki wouldnt cancel this in respect to whitney, but “the show must go on”(?) really, must it?….to get the slot alone and be paid 3 million dollars for 5 minutes of her show, well, yes the $how, indeed must go on and on and on marylin, madonna and all other daredevil diva’s simply wouldnt have gone this far especially once they have made a baby and become a mother….not beyonce/blue ivy in this mix of moments either, and let alone the daughter of whitney now forced to cope with her legacy, you simply cannot take the drug culture out of her either, she was BORN THIS WAY,literally in it,and coulda shoulda woulda been the next big thing, quite possibly, mabey still could manage to get it on in the game….but anyone must admit,it took real balls to do this gig, nikki didnt back down for nothing or no one….in this respect to the catholic church’s being offended by the “blasphemous” and sacriligeous imagery….on furthur analysis,it might even be a good thing to stimulate a discussion indeed about the demonic possesion of all the entertainment industry and performance artists, and, the church has its duty and role to play in successfully exorcising these people of thier addiction to power fame and fortune,in order to keep thier life functioning, the church may have to deal with much more than this as the masses who have witnessed this truly “satanic”performance, are now infected with that spirit and are giving it to thier children to be like this as they grow up and become a “pro”….poor bobbi christina, that she has to live with this truly demonic song in her young teen age head, the anthemic “Romanoid Holiday”,whilst they bury her mother(rip whitney)-thats how truly MAD this “entertainment” industy has become that Madness is now normalized and considered points scored in nikki’s ascent into the madonna levels of queen diva-till she makes her baby….I heard “Roman” is the name of it if its a boy…..not to say thats a bad thing,if she is intending on it being baptised a ROMAN CATHOLIC,not playing with her words or rap,its kind of sensible when you think of it in this way,is a ROMAN CATHOLIC HOLIDAY AN EXORCISM?or when a priest is required to perform his duty and goes to places to exorcise the demons, the more he does it the stronger he gets like the dancers, building up thier muscles,do you really think they could care less about the gig they have been given by ms. manoj?as long as the money is there, they will PERFORM….makes you wonder how much exactly did nikki get out of the 3 million dollars, after all the performers are paid, let alone the “priests” fee’s,no one seems to find that strange, they want to attact her and not him for projecting that image of a catholic priest to the whole planet as being some sort of circus clown performer,if any one is sacriligeous its truly got to be HIM

I liked her song Super Bass but WTF did I just watch?! I am all for being original but this was not original how many exorcist movies are there? Way too many in my opinion. Where has the talent gone in our music these days? That is why I listen to rock they actually play the instruments not just computerized?! Give me some A Day to Remember, Asking Alexandria or In Fear and Faith then maybe I will watch these fake awards shows!!!!

And what’s really great about this performance is how child-friendly the whole thing was! Exorcism, demonic ritual, hell-flames, sacrificial rites, it even had obscene gestures with lipstick! What’s not to love? Whitney would have been so proud. Pardon me, but I have to go puke again.

I can’t say I absolutely hated this video because I don’t. I agree with an above statement about Lady Gaga’s Paparazzi performance at the VMAs 2 years ago. It got terrible reviews worse than this one. I mean people found it morbid, disgusting, disrespectful and yet it is still talked about. In the end bad publicity is better than no publicity. She is still getting paid every time people bad mouth her performance. Yes it was messy and could have been done better and not to offend you catholics but you guys are so guilt ridden even if someone breaths wrong with a crucifix within a mile radius it’s sacrilege and offensive. I mean come on give it a rest Mary is not weeping right now.

    This performance was AMAZING !
Good acting + catchy song …
The singing itself could be better but Wow this is art ! And I totally get the message : nicki is trying to get rid of her schizophrenia and exorcise Roman … This is coherent since she pretended since the begining of her music career that she had alter egos … Pure talent .

I just can’t BELIEVE anyone, anywhere, under any form of medication or not, actually LIKES this garbage!! This is not a talented singer, not a talented song writer, not even a good rapper….I can’t figure out exactly what she is good for, except as poster girl for what sucks about music and the music industry today. Sad that true talent, like Ms. Houston, was wasted, and taken too soon. More sad that we are left with S— like Minaj.

    Emily Says:

Nicki def has talent and originality when it comes to rapping. She wouldn’t be at the grammys if a large chunk of the public didn’t agree. I even thought this performance looked creative, and she pushed the envelope, took a risk with the religious theme. However, she is not British so “Roman Holiday” sounded really strange coming from her Trinidad/Queens language background. The new song featured slow, repetitive rapping and melodies, which was boring. I kept waiting for her to speed it up and throw in something more catchy….bottom line, I think this song, musically speaking, was a wreck. The complexity behind the performance was interesting/creative and would’ve been more appealing had better musicality been paired with it. I’m disappointed with this and other of her performances, but this let down didn’t change my mind about the nature of her rapping abilities.

    Roxy Clayton Says:

I’m sick of everyone bitching at this performance. For one if Eminem or Jay-z came out with **** like this, no one would care. It’s because she’s a female rapper, doing something different. Y’all need to calm down, least she has the balls to do something like this, as a woman. The performance is called ‘The Exorcism of Roman’, and if haven’t caught on that the performance would be similar to that of an Exorcism, you need to get out and educate yourself. And also, last time i checked, she’s doing hella better than you. I can’t stand people that judge and criticize to this extent.

I actually quite liked this performance!! Ok it was weird and something that u would expect to come from Lady Gaga but it wasnt as bad as i thought it was going to be after reading all these comments. In one of the above posts it states something about it being wrong because of the ‘pope’ dancing, and alter boys being touched up by women (or something to that extent) but so what? That stuff goes on in churches (and has done for years) not by women but by the popes and the priests and whoever else on the inside! But ppl seem to keep their mouths closed about that because they dont want to offend the church? yet soooo quick to slam an artist for a performance which ISN’T real!

  344. 344

The problem is not the fact that this performance includes an exorcism-like ritual. The problem is the song itself is not good. I would have enjoyed this just fine had the music been more (or at LEAST) as entertaining as the choreography.

That was tight!!! Its only art, regardless of what people think she is just an entertainer. That was a great performance in my opinion, many other artists do way more “offensive” **** than that, I will always support Nicki Minaj because she is creative and funny, this is just another one of her alter-ego’s that she is displaying, if she came out in high heels and booty shorts that would be normal??? cmon, its just art people …lighten up, the girl is brave for attempting such a show. If Lady Gaga did it…would it be a issue…NO, so stop with all of the hate.

Minaj, Gaga, and Beyonce, and anyone else….. You can repent of your sin and turn away from evil. There are those of us who are praying for you. Confess Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. You may lose your life at the hand of those who now control you, but you will live forever with Jesus Christ instead of being in hell forever. But God can also deliver from the hand of those who would kill you for embracing Jesus Christ as your Savior.

Pray, repent, confess Jesus Christ as your Lord and as your Savior. Do it. We are praying for you.

Your ‘owners’ will never be able to control you again when you have Jesus Christ in your heart.

Do it. Pray and give your life to Jesus Christ. It is not too late, as long as you still have life in you. Your sin is not bigger than Jesus Christ. Jesus died to pay for your sins. But you must be sorry for your wrongs against God and ask Him to forgive you.

He will save you, and He is more mighty than all of the evil put together. God is able to make the vilest sinner clean.

We are praying for you Gaga, Nicki, Rihanna, Beyonce, and others of you. We know that you
