Nicole Scherzinger: Whitney Houston Will Always Be My Hero
Nicole Scherzinger performs at the Waterfront Hall on Wednesday (February 15) in Belfast, Northern Ireland, UK.
Over the weekend, the 33-year-old singer and former X Factor judge reflected on the death of Whitney Houston.
“[She] was and always will be my idol, my hero. At age 5, she was the one who made me realize I wanted to be a singer,” Nicole tweeted.
“Her family and friends are in my prayers. I will always love you Whitney. I know God is watching over you,” she added in another tweet.

She said at age 5, Whitney inspired her. She was born in 1978 and Whitney released her first album in 1985. You do the math. This girl is such a phony.
Why didn’t she pay tribute to her “hero” when she was still alive, then? Everyone loves you once you’re dead. smh
Hollywood isn’t what it used to in the 20th century. It is turning into a place full of fake desperate and sometimes even untalented ho’s.
She was 5 when she got her album, why you all are so stupid?
It doesn’t necessarily needs to be in the same year the album was released
@Gustavo:
But the question is… if you do the marth…Nicole turned Five in 1983, and Whitney’s 1st single and album was released in 1985. How could “Whitney” made Nicole realize she wanted to be a singer when “Whitney” didnt even had any materials released yet until two years later??
It’s easy. Nicole was born in June 1978. Whitney released her first single ‘Hold me’ in 1984. This single may have been released before june 1984 so Nicole would be still 5 years old. Got it? I don’t have a blackboard.
June 1978 1984(Jan -June) June 1984
Nicole was born Whitney releases ‘Hold me’ Nicole is 6 years old
Poor Nicole, still trying to make the solo career happen and nobody seems that into her unless she’s with the PussyCat dolls. At 30+ trying to make as a sexy pop star and it ain’t happening so likely never will for her. She annoys people I think why she is not so popular in the music world.
Nice hips with 0 brain ahahahahah
erm,for the haters. if you actually knew anything about Nicole as an artist you would know she has always given gratitude to Whitney.
Proof
1.She mentioned in an interview years ago that Whitney encouraged her to sing. just check you tube
2. she auditioned for her first talent show singing ‘i will always love you’
3. if she was failing so bad then why did her single reach no1 in the UK / and why has she been on both x factor uk and usa. as performer / judge / and have a tour through europe – trending worldwide on twitter
4. Whitney did a commercial is 1983 in which she sang. plus she released her first song in 1984. So i am sure a five yr old Nicole cud hav picked up on this.
at least Nicole is true to herself as opposed to pretending to be
somebody else when in public.
HM….WHITNEY WAS HER IDOL.. THAT’S WHY SHE SCREAMIN, NOT SINGIN JUST SCREAMIN. HOLY ****!!!!!!!!
@Gustav: Oh come on! Your grasping at straws. Who the hell knows what they want to be when they are 5 let alone remember it? Even if a 5 year old enjoys singing, they dont have the capacity to believe thats what they will do when they are 30. This is just cliche overdramatic hyperbole by another Hollywood person. It’s the same people who when asked about how they got in the biz say “I’ve been acting since I was 6″ when really to me acting as a fruit in a cheesy elementary school production does not count as “experience”, its just fun silly things you do when you are a child but people insist on being pretentious and insist that those things change them or mould them as artists. PFFFT.
@Elle: I’m not denying Nicole was a fan of Whitney. I’m just saying, pretending like Whitney was the reason she wanted to be a singer is SO OVERDRAMATIC that her story does not check out with chronology which is that she turned 5 in 1983 and Whitney was unknown back then.
If you really want to stretch it and say Nicole was 5 until June 1984 and Hold Me came out in May 1984, that might sound technically plausible if ‘Hold Me’ was actually a hit! It wasn’t! It peaked at number 46!
Sorry Nicole (your name), I don’t look up to you I LAUGH AT YOU. You don’t have the right to be taken seriously.
It’s funny how serious she is about her career when her only talent is stripping.
Nicole was a WORTHLESS judge on X Factor. HEY Nicole your music SUCKS !
Has anyone heard her singing I will always love you? It’s pretty good, she can sing, just chooses not to.
These hater comments get way too technical. Go on youtube. You can watch Nicole’s audition for Popstars from years ago where she sang “I Will Always Love You.”
@A: Like I said, I am not denying she is genuinely inspired by Whitney. I’m just saying, don’t exaggerate the truth for effect.
Nicole is one TALENTLESS CHAV !
Oh c’mon you don’t have to take seriously every little thing she said maybe she got confused and said the age wrong!
She is a good singer but it’s a shame that she doesn’t make good music :(
