Ryan Phillippe: New Television Pilot!

Ryan Phillippe: New Television Pilot!

Update: Ryan has exited Golden Boy. Deadline reports that the split was amicable and was because Ryan wasn’t sure he was ready to commit to a network drama series.

Ryan Phillippe has signed on to join the cast of the untitled pilot, previously called Golden Boy, set to air this fall on CBS, according to Entertainment Weekly.

The 37-year-old actor will star in the drama about “one cop’s meteoric rise from officer to detective to police commissioner.”

The project is the brainchild of Nicholas Wootton and Greg Berlanti, who wrote Brothers and Sisters.

Previously, Ryan had a television stint on Damages, but is more well known for his film roles.

ARE YOU EXCITED to see Ryan Phillippe on the small screen??

    Yuck3 Says:

This guy always remind me of some spoiled little boy with a pout on. Loser husband, deadbeat dad. Not much of a man.

Uh-oh. Ryan is doing a television series. That means his movie star status is fading. And,by the way, he CAN’T call his new T.V. show GOLDEN BOY – that’s the name of my beautiful pet cat. The name is already taken(so there!)

Well, here they are. The sad sacks, the woe is me, haters. This is a terrific move for Ryan. His movie nitch is just not getting made for wide release anymore. Anyone who thinks he can’t handle the big screen needs to see The Lincoln Lawyer, not to mention the others he’s made over the years. The Bang Bang Club was awesome, but typically, a limited release. That’s H’wood nowadays. I’m sure CBS made this worth it to Ryan.@Yuck3: Deadbeat dad? Do you even know what you’re talking about? Obviously not.

Ryan never had a huge movie career he did his indy movies and ensembles but he wasn’t a big star. Deadline said he was the most sought after actor in the last few pilot seasons which is a huge thing. I’m glad he found something that is good quality.

Good luck Ryan your ex-wife’s career is heading downhill and her circle of friends is no way better…

    Screech Hater Says:

His career started on TV and it looks like it will end on TV. His cute boyish looks are gone and he should be thankful he is not losing his hair…yet.

It’s a win win for him and a smart move. Movie attendance by audiences are dwindling. Big stars are moving to small screen because they will be seen by millions and a show gives the actors a chance to develop a character long period of time. Look at all the A-List stars doing tv. Glenn Close, Dustin Hoffman, Kate Winslet.

    YAYA Says:

I’m a big fan of Ryan and I’m so happy to hear this. He got too caught up in being an Indie actor when he was younger. A good project is a good project rather it’s TV or Movie. I can’t wait to see Damages too.

    ComeOnNow Says:

This young man will do extremely well on this. I am a fan of Damages and can’t wait until the final season with him on it.

He is not afraid to try something different and he just doesn’t say yes to anything.

He is not motivated by money unlike that Witherspoon woman he was with.

Quality is the key for him and he has been very successful with that.

He is NOT a dead beat father, in fact, he is the opposite of that.

Good Luck and Congratulations on this new venture!

    Eric Says:

Oh great, ANOTHER cop show. Nothing against Ryan, though. I’m actually a fan. I’m just so tired of all of these cops shows and all of these spin-offs to CSI, Law and Order, and all the others. It’s getting ridiculous. Honestly, I think people who watch TV these days are just boring, which is why we have boring TV shows on the air right now. Nobody wants to think or be challenged. They like to watch the same old boring crap all the time. We have shows like “Ringer” that while they aren’t the best show out there, it’s still pretty decent. But it doesn’t get good ratings. Why? Because people don’t like to think. They like to watch mindless, boring crap over and over and over and over again. It’s annoying.

    Pattycake Says:

@Eric: Eric, you need a life. There are plenty of really entertaining, intelligent shows on TV. Most of them, however, are not network shows. Looks like ABC would like to challenge that. This doesn’t sound like a cop show with some bogus personal background stuff wedged in for human interest, but a true drama which revolves around professional and personal dynamics. We’ll have to wait and see.

    kat Says:

omg this show sounds horrible…tired of all these cop shows….the only good crime type show is DEXTER

  21. 21
    jack Says:

Really good people behind this show. Ryan scored probably the best pilot of the season. This isn’t a procedural CSI type show I bet it’s more like Hill Street Blues or the movie Crash. Not a body every week being mutilated and the cops figure out who did it like Law and Order (although I still watch that show).

    James Says:

Ryan Phillippe arrived on TV at an early age because of his looks, not his acting ability! He has appeared in numerous movies; some good -some bad.
“Little Boy Blue”, “Stop-Loss” and “Breach” were good.
The film he made with 50 cent went straight to DVD! In MacGruber he had a celery stalk hanging out of his butt(looked ridiculous)!
Now that his “boyish looks” are gone, acting talent is all he can rely on.
He is NO Dustin Hoffman or Al Pacino!
BTW, the home he’s trying to sell in the Hollywood Hills for over $7Mil-has anyone seen pics of the interior? It’s the gaudiest, most excessively cheap looking decor I’ve ever seen! Like a decorating nightmare.
It’s time Ryan Phillippe reassessed his contributions to entertainment.

I’ll check it out—-those lips and his attitude are hot to me.

I don’t understand… What’s Golden Boy?? The drama series he exited or the new one he has signed on?

Love him big screen or small screen .
