J.K. Rowling Publishing Book for Adults

J.K. Rowling has landed a deal to publish a book for adults!

The Harry Potter creator will publish a book through Little, Brown at an unannounced future date.

“Although I’ve enjoyed writing it every bit as much, my next book will be very different to the Harry Potter series, which has been published so brilliantly by Bloomsbury and my other publishers around the world,” Jo said in a statement.

“The freedom to explore new territory is a gift that Harry’s success has brought me, and with that new territory it seemed a logical progression to have a new publisher. I am delighted to have a second publishing home in Little, Brown, and a publishing team that will be a great partner in this new phase of my writing life,” she added.

ARE YOU EXCITED about J.K. Rowling’s new book for adults?

  • NO

Not excited. She should work on another Harry Potter sequel.

  • Happy

I’m extremely excited that she will continue to write. Although I know it’ll be something completely different from the Potter series, I have faith that I’ll enjoy it because it’s from the same brilliant mind and same beautiful soul that gave us Harry Potter. I look forward to her next book!

  • Please reconsider

I am sooo not excited that she chose to do this. There’s nothing special about her writing style. Just finish that encyclopaedia!!

  • Catherine

I so can’t wait. Best news I’ve heard in a long, long time.

  • Please u r a fool

@Please reconsider: Nothing special? you are out your mind ….. Well im sure you enjoy the sparkly gay vampires or maybe something written by Kris Jenner!!

  • Andres

It’s from the publisher that brought us The Twilight Saga! Anyone who says they saw this coming is a liar. They must have paid a fortune.
Anyway, I cannot be more excited. I though I would never see the day.

  • savannah

    So excited, can’t wait!

  • savannah

@Please reconsider: Yeah, I guess that’s why the books are sold more than 450 million copies! :D

  • Yikes

J.K. Rowling can’t write! Her ‘style’ is for 9-12 year olds. An adult book will bomb! Stick to children’s fantasy.

  • NO NO NO!

    NOT excited!!!
Embarrassing and awkward when her lead gets compared to Harry Potter.

  • Lime

The Harry Potter series weren’t great. They were predictable and filled with stereotypical characters, with a really cliched ‘hero’s journey’. And what was the thing about fat people?
However, they were sometimes laugh aloud funny to read as JKR is really good with wry English humour.
But, at least she got kids and old kids reading again. =) Sometimes you gotta hide the spinach in a brownie.
Still interested to see what she’ll be writing next.

I cannot even convey with words how excited I am.

  • sarah

Please, all the people saying harry potter wasnt that great or sucked is because they are lazy people who didn’t read the books just saw the AWFUL AWFUL movies (at least all movies after #3). The ones who did read the novels and still didnt like them are… well weird. I really didnt think she would write anything ever again, really thought she wouldnt be able to create another wonderful world. Hmmm…. guess well see. Anywho, I wonder if this means their going to be a sex scene in the novel… most adult novels do….

  • speaktruth

Shut up!!!! :D This is so weird bc I literally thought how she should do this. Literally just today. I’m glad I’m on the same page as her haha (sorry i’m not sorry for the corny joke lol)

  • Sing

She doesn’t write well but her characters are entertaining and the story is compelling.
This doesn’t translate well to writing another novel.

  • Truth

Why not? Wouldn’t you, given the opportunity and ability?

  • False

^Not really. I wouldn’t do it just because i got the opportunity or ability. I would do it if i got a story i really really desperately must tell to the world. If i know i have their attention, i don’t want to publish crap.
