Brad Pitt, Javier Bardem, and Jeremy Renner are among Hollywood’s leading men being considered to play the villain in the upcoming thriller The Counselor!

Deadline reports that Brad may not be available for the project but that his name has been brought up for the role.

Michael Fassbender will star in the Ridley Scott directed film, which was written by Cormac McCarthy.

IndieWire explains, “The script is said to be an amped up No Country For Old Men-esque tale that follows a lawyer who naively gets involved in the drug trade and finds himself caught up in a desperate situation”.

Jon Voight Rooting for ‘Brilliant’ Brad Pitt On Oscars Sunday (EXCLUSIVE)

It’s clear who Jon Voight will be rooting for on Oscar Sunday: her daughter Angelina Jolie‘s partner Brad Pitt!

“I am rooting for Brad, absolutely I am,” Jon told Celebuzz of the Moneyball actor. “I think the performance is absolutely brilliant. It’s a great performance. Everybody in that group gave a great performance, but I think this is the performance of Brad’s career. It’s the performance I’ve been waiting for in some sense I think. It’s his movie. There is so much passion, it’s beautiful.”

Brad will be facing some tough competition, including good friend George Clooney, but at least he has Angie’s dad in his corner!

Pitt is nominated for his performance in Moneyball, but Jon says he would like to see Brad back on the big screen with his daughter next.

“I hope [Brad and Angelina] do a film together again,” Jon said. “They are wonderful together, wonderful. In every aspect.”

    Can’t say we disagree!

Could Michael Fassbender and Brad Pitt be teaming on Ridley Scott’s “The Counselor” before they work on “Twelve Years A Slave”? If everything shakes out, that could very well be the case.

Deadline reports the Pitt, Jeremy Renner and Javier Bardem are circling the villain role in the upcoming Cormac McCarthy-penned film. Earlier this week Fassbender got locked in for the film at which time there was word that several “high-profile actors” were being sought. And this certainly seems to be the case. The script is said to be an amped up “No Country For Old Men”-esque tale that follows a lawyer who naively gets involved in the drug trade and finds himself caught up in a desperate situation. But even with these names, there is more to come, as there are two female leads that are reportedly integral to the movie.

This is all early days and who knows who will finally sign on the line. Pitt’s participation is dependent on scheduling, which is curious considering his only other confirmed acting gig right now is in the aforementioned “Twelve Years A Slave,” which shoots this summer. This is certainly attracting some big names and is already shaping up to be one helluva film.

    Hey Says:

Brad surely loves some Fassdong 3rd time they’ll be teaming up in a movie.
Bardem would be the best choice but with a different haircut this time.
Renner can’t act for sh*t except action movies maybe.
Why not consider Christian Bale or Gary Oldman (wiser choices IMO)?

only you say that Brad is the best actor in the world for its appearance, if years had not declared the most beautiful man in the world nor was married to Jennifer Aniston today would be another common and current actor.

    Ann Th Says:

What Brad Pitt took to fame was his controversial divorce triggered. The actress that Brad divorced at the time it was even more famous than its 10-year veteran of FRIENDS Jennifer loved and respected by everyone. Brad and Jen called the perfect marriage of Hollywood and stable, collapsed for reasons we still do not know exactly but it definitely was involved Angelina Jolie.

    Moneyball!! Says:

Clearly Brad’s name is here just to get interest bc if he wanted the role, it would be his- setting up this story like this insults JR & JB, who are fine actors as well. Annoying that they are always using his & Angie’s name just to glean interest and set up a false competition.

    @clinqua Says:

Sorry Cliniqua, but you disrespect both AJ and BP by grousing about AJ doing the forward to BBT’s book. She wouldn’t have done it if Brad had an issue with it. Both she and Brad are still friends with their ex’s. Including Paltrow who cheated and Jen even tho she flaps her lips constantly about Brad. And that also includes AJ supporting her ex Johnny in film. So why wouldn’t she support BBT?

    Deadline Says:

BOX OFFICE: Noon Numbers Show ‘Act Of Valor’ #1, ‘Good Deeds’ #2, ‘Wanderlust’ #5

FRIDAY 1:30 PM: Based on noon numbers, my sources are estimating today’s and this weekend’s box office as this. Noteworthy: Relativity’s Act Of Valor is blazing based on the military-themed bestselling book, Lionsgate’s Good Deeds is middling with Tyler Perry not crossdressing as Madea, and Universal’s Wanderlust is bombing worse than expected. The combination of Jennifer Aniston and Paul Rudd proved toxic to moviegoers so far. (FYI: this greenlight was the studio’s payback to director David Wain and producer Judd Apatow.) Also remember that kids on the east Coast are out of school this weekend so family fare like Warner Bros’ Journey 2 will stay strong. Here’s the Top Six right now:

    1. Act Of Valor (Relativity) NEW [3,039 Theaters]
Est Friday $10M-$12M, Est Weekend $28M-$34M

    2. Tyler Perry’s Good Deeds (Lionsgate) NEW [2,132 Theaters]
Est Friday $6M-$7M, Est Weekend: $14M-$16M

    3. Journey 2 (Warner Bros) Week 3 [3,350 Theaters]
Est Friday $2.5-$3.0M, Est Weekend $11M-$12M

    4. Safe House (Universal) Week 3 [3,052 Theaters]
Est Friday $3M-$3.5M, Est Weekend $10M-$11M

    5. Wanderlust (Universal) NEW [2,002 Theaters]
Est Friday $2M-$3M, Est Weekend $6M-$7M

    6. Gone (Summit) NEW [2,186 Theaters]
Est Friday $1M-$2M, Est Weekend $4M-$5M

LOS ANGELES — Tom Cruise and Angelina Jolie lit up the Hollywood & Highland Center with their star power when they came to rehearse for Sunday’s Oscar show.

The megastars each practiced walking on stage and presenting their categories Friday, handing out prop Oscars to stand-ins pretending to be winners.

Jolie said she was jetlagged after traveling with her family from Sarajevo to Berlin to Paris to Los Angeles, but she still looked stunning in black jeans, heels and a blazer.

“You just blew the minds of two of our stand-ins who got a hug from you,” stage manager Dency Nelson told the actress, who replied through a shy smile, saying, “Oh, you’re so sweet.”

Even telecast producer Brian Grazer was struck by Jolie’s charm.

“You have to take a picture with me first!” he said as she walked onto the stage. “Well, you don’t HAVE to,” Grazer clarified.

Whoa…this is stunningly bad even for Ticky. But, she should buck up – at least she’s not presenting at the oscars on the heels of a mega bomb and having Billy Crystal introduce her as, “The whiniest woman in showbiz and star of this week’s biggest flop…” Or have to stand around smiling and talking knowing everyone in the joint is laughing their ass off that the last place she needs to be is at an event celebrating excellence om anything – especially not excellence in movie-making.
BTW, Ticky does have one thing she can be grateful for – at least Wanderbust didn’t finish behind the re-release of Jar Jar Binks Annoys The Hell OUtta Ya. Wait…make that 2 things to be grateful for – she found out that Squiggy is as big a fameho as she is and will be around for at least another year or so. Baby steps, Ticky, baby steps.
