Lindsay Lohan: I Still Need to 'Prove Myself'

Lindsay Lohan opens up about partying, regaining fans’ trust, and her upcoming Elizabeth Taylor role in a Today interview set to air Thursday (March 1).

Here’s what the 25-year-old actress had to share with Matt Lauer (via USA Today):

On hitting the party scene: “That’s not my thing anymore. I went out, actually, a few months ago with a friend. And I was so uncomfortable. Not because I felt tempted, just because it was just the same thing that it always was before. And it just wasn’t fun for me. I’ve become more of a homebody. And I like that.”

On hoping the public trusts her again: “I think that that’s gonna take … I think that takes time. And I think that it’s actions. Because people can say things all they want, but I think I still need to go through the process of proving myself, you know, with SNL, being on time, being, you know, keeping my – can’t say the word – stuff together.”

On playing Elizabeth Taylor in an upcoming project: “We’re in the middle of casting and figuring – we start production soon. I’ve been doing tons of research. But I’ve always kind of researched her. She’s always been a fascinating woman to me. So I’m really honored. And I will not let anyone down, especially myself. Because people, you know, I could see where it could be scary for people to invest in me. And I don’t want people to have that reason to be scared anymore. So being able to have this opportunity with SNL and the film, I’m gonna do what I’m supposed to do, and enjoy doing it, and do it as best as I can.”

i wish her success. she was a great actress at a very young age, and great in “the parent trap” playing twins and even doing a british accent. so, i hope she hangs in there and does a great job in this movie. one you get into drugs, it’s hard to get out, but i hope she does it.

  • Jean

The girl who cried wolf. I just don’t care for or about her anymore. She had a million chances and she always messed them up. We’ve heard her shtick that this time she’s better over and over again. It’s getting real tired.

  • Frozoid

She looks terrible. The blonde washes her out. She needs to go back to her original red, as this color makes her look 40, not 25.

  • charlotte

Liz Taylore was an ACTRESS. I have to ask, how small is this company/channel that’s trying to pull off this Lindsay as Liz? I can honestly say I will NEVER watch it with her. Surely, there must be an actress who is qualified. Lindsay has messed up way to much. There are so many young and talented women out there who want to be an ACTRESS. Why not give the people who have truly worked hard a chance. This is VERY disappointing.

I hope Lindsay can get it together. She used to be a very decent actress and so beautiful.

I will not even click on a reality tv’s picture, link, etc. I don’t want to feed the machine. I want them all to disappear. I want real movie stars and actors.

  • Chris

First of all, Lifetime should be ashamed of cast such a skank to play Liz Taylor.

Second, we’ve heard all of this same crap from Lindsay before. She’ll never change, and frankly, who cares about her anymore?

  • [~Fug Face Man!ston~]

    …oh please. `she looks 40.

  • laly

Liz Taylor must be spinning in her grave
    seriously who’s the casting director

  • Sofia

Give the girl a break, she has/had a disease, she was an addict. I guess no one here really knows how it is, right? So, STFU and give the girl some time!

  • Mika

    good for her!

  • teri

Lindsay I’m rooting for you, take it a day at a time and stay away from temptation.

  • commonsense

    Lifetime is no HBO!

  • Belle

Girl has a serious entitlement issue so NOPE not getting any sympathy from me. Lindsay as the great Liz is a disgrace.

  • anon2

I think Liz would have loved Lindsay playing her. Liz went through a lot herself and in the public eye, so she would probably understand what a second chance means. Lindsay sounds like she is starting to understand what she needs to do to get her life in order. I just hope she does it behind the scenes as well.

  • James

I really hope that Lindsay can stay clean and have a great career.

  • Lisa

Has anyone noticed that whenever there is a story planted on Lindsay now, it seems like a swarm of her people descend, putting in positive comments and negating anything that isn’t positive about her.

  • sb

what? There is actually a swarm of extremely judgmental people who couldn’t miss the opportunity to say something negative about Lindsay. Or, any other public person for that matter.Sad

LIlo needs to prove to NO ONE, everybody knows she is an Hollywood icon that exhibits true talent and class, she is one of a kind….go Lilo!!!!!

  • mimi

I think Megan Fox would make a good young elizabeth taylor.

  • esther

Go away Loserhan and take all your famiy members with you.

  • Dale

Awwww, I love Lindsay! I wish her well :)

  • Amber

People forget that Lindsay is a great actress, You may want to watch one of her movies to remember that and not judge her on her private life.
I think she will be great as Liz!
Let’s not forget Liz and ALL her “private life” problems (drugs, divorce, ruining her career)

  • Baker

Yay!! Lindsay! Can’t wait for her comeback! WORK IT GIRL!!!

  • Lily

I think Megan Fox can be perfect Elizabeth Taylor.

  • pluaahh

Oh people, you need to remember too all the sh*t this girl has brought. I don’t like her personality at all. Once people support her she takes the lead and does what is on her freaky mind again.

  • Liv

@pluaahh: oh b#$%!!! You need to look on the positive things that she did because right now, you are totally looking like an idiot.

  • mel

@Amber: She wasn’t a great actress, she’s never been and I mean this as someone who loves her movies. All her movies are edited and you can tell she can’t handle a scene where she needs to cry so they edit them; one proof would be Just My Luck, at the end when they’re at the station and Chris Pine tells her he doesn’t want her luck, she turns away and they give her a close up and she’s crying but you can see that that was heavily and IMO badly edited and that it took more than one take to do that. Lindsay’s never been a good actress, she was a precocious kid just like all the young actresses today (Chloe, Elle, Hailee) and she was charming because of that. People love precociosness on kids and that’s why she was successful. She’s never been like Dakota Fanning who’s never done a movie as a kid where she had to just be charming, even her first movie was extremely dramatic and Lindsay’s never done that. Dakota on her first movie proved herself as a great young actress whereas Lindsay proved herself as a romantic comedy queen. Not to mention that Lindsay belongs to a generation of actresses who were romantic comedy queens themsleves (Hilary Duff, Amanda Bynes,Anne Hathaway) and until 2005/6 when actresses with substance came to the scene, that’s what would sell tickets. None of them are working today and honestly, Lindsay does not have the talent to compete against actresses like Carey Mulligan, Keira Knightley, Rooney Mara or Amanda Seyfried, let alone Emma Stone who has proven to have an exquisite comedic timing and be the real deal the past weekend with her skit at the Oscars. Honestly, Lindsay is way too big of a celebrity to take on to and to believeable in bigger, dramatic roles that are what young actresses are doing now. She belongs to a generation of movie stars that don’t exist nowadays. Today young actors are actors, don’t look for celebrity and even if Lindsay can make a comeback, she can’t get rid of her ego and that is a probelm because she wants to come back big and doesn’t want to take minor roles in indie movies in order to stretch herself out and seek range. She wants to come back where she left and even if people accept her again, nobody will believe that they’re seeing a character and not just Lindsay Lohan and directors don’t want that to happen to their movies. I mean, serious directors in real contenders.

I like Lindsay’s new attitude. She’s still young enough to be able to change – and she is. Good for her!!!

  • faz

I think it is a difficult thing to pull off an actress in their real life… so hopefully she can surprise us all with a great performance.

  • Bixch

After looking at her it just doesn’t add up, and really you have to wonder what is going on here? Just another PR campaign. Face fillers anyone??

  • Nancy Baumgarten

I totally agree with Frozoid. That beautiful red head should go back to her own hair color that complements her freckles .. and while she’s at it – stop whiting out herur freckles! they are beautiful and part of her. I also thought good god, that hair makes her look like 40…

I wish her great luck in her continued recovery. Lindaey really is a superb actress. And deserves yet another chance.
