Nicole Richie Talks Family and Wild Past

Nicole Richie is super stylin’ on the cover of Ocean Drive magazine’s latest issue.

Here’s what the 30-year-old fashionista had to share:

On her husband, Joel Madden: “Joel and I are complete polar opposites. He’s from southern Maryland. He’s very family-oriented. He grew up with four brothers and sisters. When we met, I was definitely going through a difficult time with my family, and having him have such a strong foundation really opened the doors and brought both of our families together.”

On her kids’ personalities: “My daughter [Harlow] looks exactly like me, and she has Joel’s personality. She’s very careful. She doesn’t make a move without fully thinking about what the consequences would be and what that means. Sparrow looks exactly like Joel and has my personality. He’s just wild. I’m in for the ride. He’s two, and we’ve had broken fingers, we’ve been to the hospital. You cannot take your eye off of him for a second. He is just a full, free spirit.”

On her rocky past: “You have to remember that I was 20 years old. I don’t know anybody who can look back at who they were at 20 and say, ‘I’m the exact same person.’ It’s all about evolving and growing. Who we are in our 30s is obviously very different than who we are in our 20s.”

She looks like Paris Hilton in those photos..

# 2

I love Nicole but that quote about her past bothers me. Being young does not give you a right to do drugs and put other people’s lives in danger. The whole idea of “oh I was 20, give me a break” just does not fly with me.

# 3

@Anne: Anne, please don’t insult her. Nicole has evilved into a beautiful mother, wife and daughter. Paris will always be …….. Paris

# 4

oops – that’s ‘evolved’ not evilved

# 5

why is this gal famous?

# 6

she’s such a hottie

# 7

I love Nicole and Joel together. And their kids are amazing!

# 8

I’m so proud of Nicole. She had everything for be exactly like Paris, but she became a mature women, mother, wife and a conscious human being.

# 9

Harlow is so damn cute!

I have always been a huge Good Charlotte’s fan, and when i heard that Joel was with her, I just tought: WTF? But I was wrong, those two are great together.

She made mistakes as a teenager, but now she is a great mother and wife. Good for her!

Love you, Nicoleeeee

Uau! She looks gorgeous!

Their kids are luck.

Nicole has come a long way since her early bratty days as Paris Hilton’s sidekick. I’m happy she has matured into a loving mother, wife and fashion entrepreneur. She’s never looked better than she does now. Proud of you, Nicole.

@Johnny: Is so common say things like “why she is famous?”. Well, I’m sure that if you don’t stay here losing your time saying things about her or reading about her, she wouldn’t be in the midia.

@Kevin: True… but remember its a whole lot different growing up in a place like Los Angeles where everything is so much more available. I’m 23 and where I’m from, I would have no idea where to get ahold of drugs if I was interested (which I most definitely am NOT) but I get the impression that in Hollywood those kind of things are handed out like party favors.
When you are young you are more susceptible to peer pressure and havent grown up enough to know that “fitting in” isnt the most important thing in life.
I think she is lovely and I’m very glad that it seems that she is happy :)

Beautiful family, Nicole we are so proud of you!

A HO is always a HO

Well, like they say, a priest has a past and a sinner has a future.

True Story…I did shots with her in a LA bar about 10 years ago..her & 2 friends

she was great to hang with…but a mess

glad to see she cleaned herself up

I used to not like Nicole becouse the way she acted, but seen how much she has matured, I have started seen her in a different light. Everyone make mistakes, FACT, some more than others, but learning from them is the key to succes.

She’s all grown up. Happy for her and that she found someone with strong family values to guide her way. She went through some tough times and will be able to tell her children not to do what Mommy did. Very proud of her.
