Alex O'Loughlin in Treatment for Prescription Drugs

Alex O’Loughlin will be missing at least one episode of Hawaii Five-0 while he completes treatment for prescription drugs.

The 35-year-old actor “is taking a short break to receive supervised treatment for prescription pain medication due to a recent shoulder injury,” his rep said in a statement (via EW).

“We respect and support Alex’s decision,” CBS Studios, which produces the drama, added. “Everyone at CBS TV Studios and Hawaii Five-0 wishes him well and we look forward to his return.”

Alex‘s treatment is not expected to affect production, which has already filmed 19 episodes. After episode 20 is completed, the show will then take a short break before filming three more episodes for its second season.

The title of this post made me think he’s a drug addict… Nice title Jared!! alex is just trying to be safe with his medication.

This shoulder issue has months already, he mentioned it lightly on interviews. And it really annoys me that he barely appears on just jared news and now lots of people will think he is a junkie, when in fact he is such a great professional, concerned with health and totally on the opposite scope of actors/celebrities who are involved in drugs. Hope he gets well <3

Actually, he hasn’t been looking that good on the last few episodes of Hawaii 5 O. Looks pale and has lost some weight. I wish him luck.

Good Luck, Alex!!! Pills and drugs – the scourge of Hollywood.

    Mom Says:

If the prescription he was addicted to was for opiates, this is a life or death situation. I hope his loved ones understand this and he will need long term care….at least 6 months. Believe me I personally know how hard it is to stay in recovery, I have watched this disease destroy my son, and no rehabs have helped him, they do want to get better but opiates have an incredible hold on these addicts.
This is a life long disease and Alex must work on his recovery everyday for the rest of his life. He shouldn’t ever drink alcohol again.
FYI no amount of money for the best rehabs can fix this problem, the addict is the only one that can do it.

hot guy–what do all these celebs have with prescription drugs?

the doctors should be blamed–for me it would be impossible to get addicted to that—it is not that easy to get these drugs from medics anyway–i guess you can buy anything..

    Peter Says:

@Mom: Why are you even supposing it’s opiates??? Go rumble about your life elsewhere:/

That is so responsible of him, I’m glad he’s getting help weaning of his meds. He’s not an ADDICT, people!! I love him on the show, so I’m glad he won’t miss too many episodes. That “marriage” he has going on with Danny is the highlight of any episode LOL I hope he gets the help he’s looking for and this just passes by!

Alex is my favorite actor, and has been for a few years now. I am so happy to hear that he is seeking treatment. I’ve noticed on the last few episodes of H50 that he had lost weight and looked different. I wish him the best and hope that he gets better and back to filming cause Five-0 wouldnt be the same without him. But more importantly, I pray for a speedy recovery so that he can get back to his son, who means more to him than anything else. God bless him!

    Jessi Says:

I’ve read this article several times, and in no way does it say he’s seeking treatment for an ADDICTION. So, why are people insisting that he’s a junkie, or an addict now? Just because the guy wants to make sure he’s healthy and does it the way it’s SUPPOSED to be done, he’s a junkie?

    The nerve of some people.

    VALERIA Says:

Stop people!, he needs treatmet, so he’s an addict, face it.
He’s great actor as many hollywood actors, but what wrong with they.
Everyday one actor start a treatment for some drugs issues, medicinal or not. they are so screwed

    sucks Says:

this sucks…. celebs should try to be better role models because after all, some people do look up to them.First demi moore went to rehab then whitney houston died, then gerard butler went to rehab, now this hawaii 5.0 dude. not even counting britney, heath ledger, lohan and …..

  18. 18
    Peter Says:

@sucks: Celebs are human and can make mistakes. I wonder how would it look like if most of us were under the scrutiny and being judged in all our actions… I don’t think we would be great role models too. We have no idea of how it’s like to be in their shoes.

    sucks Says:

@Peter: I know they’re human , I’m just saying when your under the microscope and in the public eye you should watch your actions more.

  20. 20
    sucks Says:

BTW…. this Five-0 guy is kinda cute.

  21. 21
    Peter Says:

@sucks: What you are saying is that he didn’t think about the message he is passing to others when obviously he didn’t get into trouble because he wanted to. I think there’s a difference between celebs who are totally irresponsable and continuously get into troubles and others who are “normal” and have problemas like anyone else. We expect too much and actually because he is publicly recognizing he has a n issue and is going to treat I see it as an example to others who deal with the same issues and pretend nothing is wrong. People with chronic pain and medicin addiction is not the same as people with illegal drugs addiction.

    Andy Says:

The pressures of being closeted are enormous.

  23. 23
    sucks Says:

@Peter: an addiction is an addiction. Btw,howcome so many celebs are addicted to “pain killers”?… don’t you think its a bit odd?

  24. 24
    Peter Says:

@sucks: The ones I know about have been hurt while working in films where they had very demanding roles packed with action scenes. We should draw a line between recreational drugs and drugs prescriptions used when there’s a health issue. I just don’t think people should be judgemental about it. Some people are addicted to medicines for headaches and they can hide the problem if it’s even considered a problem, but when you have such a demanding and intense job where you have to perform physically you can’t hide it or even take the time to deal with it properly. Has we all heard “the show must go on”:/

  25. 25
    Jack Says:

@sucks: How many anonymous people are addicted to pain killers? That’s a world problem, not a celebrity problem and has very much to do with the way doctors and pharmaceutical companies define treatments – the “pill cure”.
