Alex O'Loughlin in Treatment for Prescription Drugs

Alex O’Loughlin will be missing at least one episode of Hawaii Five-0 while he completes treatment for prescription drugs.

The 35-year-old actor “is taking a short break to receive supervised treatment for prescription pain medication due to a recent shoulder injury,” his rep said in a statement (via EW).

“We respect and support Alex’s decision,” CBS Studios, which produces the drama, added. “Everyone at CBS TV Studios and Hawaii Five-0 wishes him well and we look forward to his return.”

Alex‘s treatment is not expected to affect production, which has already filmed 19 episodes. After episode 20 is completed, the show will then take a short break before filming three more episodes for its second season.

@Jack: you’re right . its not just a celeb problem , but there’s gotta be other ways to treat pain, right?
@Peter: don’t they have stunt doubles?… why would they risk getting hurt then getting addicted to painkillers?…. it sad.

    Jack Says:

@sucks: I always see actors being praised for doing stunt work, it shows they are professionals and that they are serious about acting. Also, it has to do about being truthful to the craft I guess. But even minor action sequences can go wrong.
But about the pain, if there was an easier solution (giving the fact that the show can’t stop) do you think people in general would take meds? I guess we can question the medical decisions about it, but that’s probably stuff we don’t know about and I can’t give an opinion. But it’s sad, I agree on that.

I can’t blame people for having an opinionated idea of Alex’s issue because he is part of Hollywood which is the place of celebs addictions and erratic behaviour so if you don’t know him you’ll just think “that’s just another celebrity falling from the pedestal” or something among these lines.
But Alex is not like that, he just does his thing the best he can and that’s probably part of the problem, he is too committed to work and that’s why he does so many stunts and probably why he tried to deal with his pain without dramatizing it too much. I give credits to the guy for being so serious about his job, this issue is just a reflection of his perseverance badly managed.

    Vivian Says:

He’s a great actor, and he’s very sexy.
So what if he had problems with prescription drugs?
He also cuts his hair like we all do, he also got married, he also loves, he also cries, he also laughs. Just because he’s in the spotlight doesn’t mean that he’s some sort of alien and can’t have issues.

    Tara Says:

Wow. Hope he stays in rehab the time needed. Playing with drugs is never a good thing, he should ask Charlie S.

  8. 33
    John Says:

@Tara: He didn’t play with drugs, he used them to ease the pain he has on his shoulder. Not the same.

I see my comment on the last page (#17) got to some people . which is pretty funny because I didn’t say anything offensive. I just stated a fact.

@sucks: Since when thumbs up or down mean anything? And truth is not black & white. This is just about opinions and there’s lot of those on the internet…

I wonder how would it look like if most of us were under the scrutiny and being judged in all our actions… I don’t think we would be great role models too. We have no idea of how it’s like to be in their shoes.
