“It was a bit of a blur because New Orleans will do that to you,” Brad said to Ellen DeGeneres on her show (via People) about his first trip to the city in the 90s. “I fell in love with the place. The people. The music. It’s in the air.”

Brad recently hosted a fundraising event for his charity the Make It Right foundation in the Big Easy.

I think it is kind of nice that the dark years are slowly being erased off the internet. Before long there will be no trace of those previous years before Brad/Angie got together..

    Yeah not bad at all

Box office report: ‘The Hunger Games’ posts third-best opening weekend ever with $155 mil

Well, that’s one way to make an impression. The Hunger Games surpassed the wildest industry expectations to debut to $155 million, according to studio estimates.

That’s the third-biggest opening weekend ever, behind only Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows — Part 2 ($169.2 million) and The Dark Knight ($158.4 million). It’s also the best debut ever for a non-sequel, crushing 2010′s Alice in Wonderland ($116.1 million), and it represents the top opening weekend for any picture outside the summer movie season. And, yes, it must be mentioned — The Hunger Games opened stronger than all four Twilight films.

The Hunger Games was front-loaded this weekend, but not to the same extent as a Twilight or recent Harry Potter movie. The sci-fi action film, about a dystopian society that forces 24 kids to battle to the death, opened to an estimated $68 million on Friday — the fifth-best opening day ever. It then dropped 25 percent on Saturday for $51 million. A Friday-to-Saturday decline of 25 percent may sound like a lot, but consider that Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows — Part 2 fell 53 percent, while The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn — Part 1 dipped 44 percent. While Potter and Twilight may have more ravenous fans who are willing to rush out and see a movie as early as possible, The Hunger Games seems to be compensating by reaching a broad general audience.

The film’s demographic info confirms as much. According to Lionsgate, The Hunger Games attracted an audience that was 61 percent female. By comparison, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn — Part 1 drew a crowd that was 80 percent female. Also, The Hunger Games was fairly evenly split by age, with 56 percent at least 25 years old and 44 percent less than 25 years old. However, the younger moviegoers were slightly more enthusiastic. Although the film received an overall “A” grade from CinemaScore participants, those under the age of 25 rated it an “A+,” while those over 25 gave it an “A-.”

The Hunger Games: Get the latest news, photos, and more

It was truly a spectacular weekend for Lionsgate, which spent $80 million to produce The Hunger Games and a relatively modest $45 million to market it. Up until this weekend, the studio’s top grosser was the Michael Moore documentary Fahrenheit 9/11, which earned a total of $119.2 million. The Hunger Games reached that figure in just two days.

Lionsgate took a risk on not showing the actual Hunger Games in the movie’s trailers and ads, but unlike John Carter, the film’s sci-fi premise was still clearly established. The Hunger Games also had tremendous built-in awareness, with more than 24 million copies of Suzanne Collins’ book trilogy in print domestically. And in Jennifer Lawrence, director Gary Ross (Pleasantville) found an actress who could convincingly inhabit the demanding heroine role of Katniss Everdeen.

Furthermore, the decision to release The Hunger Games on IMAX screens for a one-week run achieved handsome results, with the movie collecting $10.6 million at 268 theaters. That’s the best IMAX debut for a 2-D film that isn’t a sequel. Next weekend, IMAX is contractually obligated to replace The Hunger Games with Wrath of the Titans.

Oh, right, there were other movies playing this weekend too. Last week’s winner, 21 Jump Street, fell a mild 41 percent for $21.3 million. After two weeks, the R-rated comedy starring Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum has earned an impressive $71.1 million. In third, Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax slipped 43 percent for $13.1 million, bringing its cumulative total to $177.3 million. The animated fable remains 2012′s top grosser for now, but will have to relinquish that title to The Hunger Games later this week.

In fourth place was John Carter, down a steep 63 percent for $5 million. The $250 million epic has so far grossed $62.3 million in three weeks — less than what The Hunger Games made in one day. Rounding out the top five was the Navy SEALs war film Act of Valor with $2.1 million, pushing its tally to $65.9 million

Among limited releases, the pro-life drama October Baby debuted to a respectable $1.7 million at 390 theaters. The Indonesian martial arts film The Raid: Redemption opened to $221,000 at 14 theaters for a solid per-location average of more than $15,000. And the critically acclaimed British drama The Deep Blue Sea, starring Rachel Weisz and Tom Hiddleston, mustered a mediocre $120,000 at 29 theaters.

    1. The Hunger Games — $155.0 mil
    2. 21 Jump Street — $21.3 mil
    3. Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax — $13.1 mil
    4. John Carter — $5.0 mil
    5. Act of Valor — $2.1 mil

    Busted -
2005 isn’t part of “the dark years”. That’s May 1998-Dec-2004. Also, I didn’t say that ALL the info from those years is slowly being inaccessible. Au contraire. If you know what you’re looking for and how to find it you can still get to things. Don’t make me pull out that list of movies Ticky’s never gotten financing for… However, some things are no longer available because of database crashes, site redesigns, bandwidth issues, etc. Sometime in early 2006 Jared moved from Blogspot to a new server. As AG mentioned earlier today Jared had a big database crash back in Sept 2006 and a huge chunk of his database was corrupted. Based on the fact that he’s still got the data going back to Feb 17, 2006 it looks like he was able to recover part, but not all, of that database. After the crash he moved to the Buzznet server farm and it’s been fairly stable since thing – other than that annyoing ass moderation crap. His old site was at Blogspot and that remained accessible at the address for a long time. If you try to use it now it’s redirected to this site – which you ask Blogger to do for you. Sometime last year Google (who owns Blogger/Blogspot) appears to have either purged old inactive blogs or forbidden access to webcrawlers trying to index those pages for search engine access. In other words – Google no longer allows one part of their company to index old webpages in another part of their company. Big business is a biitch, ain’t it?

    @Nora: @POOR TROLL:
What Angie said about Brad in this interview melts my heart. WoW, they always are more open to the foreign journalists and also foreign journalists ask better question thans American press.

  • for Golddustwoman

catching up and saw your nice Angie write up, you requested feedback, so here are couple of things:

Item 1- I would modify to in her 20s, NOT 30s where you state Angie embraced motherhood and humanitarian endeavors. I would also change “diverting” to something like expanding, supplementing or diversifying instead of diverting. You could accomplish this by breaking up the sentences, modifying the words, etc. Here is one possible such re-write:

“So, despite having lived her life in the right order; being wild and experimental in her youth, embracing humanitarian efforts and motherhood in her 20, and expanding her talents to writing and directing as she approaches the decade when women become invisible in Hollywood, Angelina’s process of evolution is ignored.”

Item 2 I agree w/ PT- the comparison to Madonna is odd- Angie is so much more than that nasty old rich youth-obsessed plastic surgery victim/cougar who is very rude to fans- yes, madge is controversial and has some talent, but – if you really must put madonna’s name in, add Michelle Obama or something.
Item 3- depending upon how much space you have, you could, in keeping with your “surprised to know about Angie ” theme add a blurb about her friendship with Jane Goodall (& embed this video or talk about the animal preserves in Africa or Cambodia or the website she funded to get rid of Lubunga, being a supportive partner in MIR, etc.

Hey guys!!…Jonah Hill was on Howard Stern….and Jonah said he considers Brad and Angelina his friends, and that they are amazing people, and that they actually came to his 28th birthday party. He said Angie and Brad came to the bar where it was held, and hung out with him and had fun, and stayed out late, and talked and danced..etc!

Also, IGNORE THE HATERS!!….I can’t believe we’re still talking about Angie’s leg pose! Howard even asked Jonah about it and he said he gets why people would imitate it, but that Angelina is GORGEOUS (Howard agreed that Angie’s gorgeous) and Jonah said that he didn’t understand why people are making a big deal about it. ANGELINA OWNED OSCARS 2012…period. Lets move on people!

  • Love the JoliePitts

Thank you for posting this, QueenBee. Jonah is right. Angelina IS gorgeous and a beauty to behold in person. That smile on Brad’s face says it all. He is so happy to back home with his baby mama and his little munchkins. What a happy man he is finally having the family he has always wanted.
God bless our sweet Angelina and always give her her heart’s desires. She and Brad are so beautiful and perfect together. Their love story and how they met and fell in love makes me want to swoon.
Yes! Angelina owned the Oscars and everyone with real intelligence knows that and loves her for it.
    Beautiful, loving couple.

So funny to see the boat captain from CCOBB on Mad Men- Jared Harris is so good- completely different characters!

    @Love the JoliePitts:
…thank you, and to shore up that point even more…from the dailymail:
Miley Cyrus does ‘an Angelina’ in slitted orange dress as she and her right leg try and upstage her Hunger Games star boyfriend Liam Hemsworth

Doing an Angelina: Miley Cyrus stuck out her leg a la Jolie at Muhammad Ali’s Celebrity Fight Night XVIII on Saturday night…
The 19-year-old donned a bright orange gown with a very Jolie-esque slit up the right side. Her leg protruded accordingly, admittedly not to Jolie levels of lunging, but it was definitely a trainee apprenticeship re-imagining of ‘the leg.’

That’s right trolls. Now, any female who wears a side slit, is now doing a la Jolie. That’s how super huge she is. A legend. The only thing tv hasbeen fuggiston influences is sad dumped middleaged rejects into being mean to girls prettier and better than they are.

  • Captain Mike

#125 CCOBB- I LOVED Captain Mike! Heck, I loved that whole movie. Jared is also on Fringe- one of my favorite shows- he excellent on that as well. His did is Richard Harris, so talent is in his blood. Here he is talking about CCOBB:

@Cliniqua; @Lynn: We have to look on the bright side of Angie’s pose, every time someone wears a dress with a slit similar to Angie and does the “leg pose”, then they will definitely be called out as copycats just like Miley Cyrus even if some other celebrities or models have been doing the “leg pose” way before Angie. Also the best thing about this is that Ticky will stop wearing dresses with slits this time around. She sure knows that she doesn’t want to be called out doing the “Angelina.” LOL

I’ve been in Internet Hell (damned cable company) since shortly after Tiger won. I was LMAO because there were people who seriously believed he was finished and would never win again. That was just plain old wishful thinking. They guy has twice rebuilt his swing and had lengthy periods of now winning while he did so. He’s always said that it was a process and would take time. When are people going to reallize that just because someone is an ass that doesn’t negate their talents or resolve. Tiger was always going to win again – even if it was just so he could prove the naysayers wrong. Now that my modem is back online I’ll have to go over the Yahoo golf page and LMAO at all the people there hatin’ on Tiger. Yeah, he’s a scumbag but he’s WINNING! LOL. Hat’s off to Charlie Sheen….

  • Truth

Say what you want about Angie’s right leg, but it’s becomming an iconic pose to be copied and remembered similar to Marilyn’s flying dress ( which I’m sure was quite controversial in her day) . It’s becomming stylish and legendary not infamous as wished by some. Heck I’m gonna remember to pose like that!

  • Brad’s wiglet

This is what a source in the know says, “Brads pr team have already laid the groundwork to make it look like Angie is the bad guy and cheater but she doesn’t care. She just wants out. he’s been using her as a shield for negative rumors for a long time now, She’s become accustom to it. She figures if she handled it when there were together she can more than handle it when they are apart. She’s prepared but excited for her future. She already told the children and she rented a house in the la area.”

Spotlight: Flavia Pennetta on her 2009 U.S. Open Run, Monica Seles and Angelina Jolie

March 25, 2012 By Romana Cvitkovic

Flavia Pennetta has been a force on the WTA Tour for over ten years, but she only broke through the top echelons of women’s tennis back in 2009 when she became Italy’s first top 10 singles player in history. I had a chance to chat with the bubbly, pleasant, and smiling Flavia during the Sony Ericsson Open as she shared insights about her unforgettable 2009 U.S. Open match against Vera Zvonareva, dancing, beach volleyball, Monica Seles and Angelina Jolie.

If you could have dinner with any three people, who would it be and why?

Brad Pitt. And also Angelina [Jolie]. She’s nice, really nice. I like her a lot.

    Did you meet her ever?

No, but I have one friend who is a friend of Angelina’s and she told me Angelina is a really nice person. I really like her when I watch her on TV because I think she is a really good actress, but I’ve never met her.

More of Angie’s interview with Aniko Navai:

Aniko: You will be 37 and not that it bothers you but at this age most actresses start counting their wrinkles
Angie: I’m not a bit concerned about getting older, in fact I can hardly wait that I’ll be an exhausted old woman who has lived a full life and who has all the experiences behind her and I am still doing it. Of course in this business they warn you not to be proud of your age and not to except old character parts, but for me, I like to see people that age and see the experiences in the faces
Aniko: Your family travels a lot and not one child was born in Ameica. How much do you see yourself as American?
Angie: Very much so. And proudly. All our children travel with US passports and they are American. What I love most about the US, it a huge melting pot where everyone belongs, your religion, your skin color, your race without hesitation. America is like our family. We are the mini version. What is important for my kids is to learn other countries and cultures and to respect it.For them to love the world. Asia, Africa, Europe is in their blood but all of them are very proud they are American.
Aniko: What did you learn from Brad?
Angie: That I shouldn’t rush at life’s adventures. That if I cannot sit still,I should continue with calm but pay attention and learn and make sure the kids have time with me either at the beginning or end of my journeys. Brad taught me that it is not necessary to eat life with a big spoon but how important it is to stop, lay back.

Angie: I never really thought of the concept because when I met him, Maddox & I were living just the two of us and but I didn’t feel I had a family yet. Then Brad showed up in our lives. With his wonderful personality and he brought so much sunshine into our lives, childhood memories, playfulness and humor like he was born to be a Dad. A Natural. He can take out the best and the most of each minute. He sparkles. Brad taught me to see, hear and enjoy every second. He couln’t have given me any more then this and I think this is why I fell madly in love. I knew very little about him but by little by little it I came to know him.I realized he has the most amazing humor, he stands firmly on the ground with both feet, he is a fantastic man who is also extremely attractive and addictive physically. He sees the outside world as he wants to and all I know he is my best friend and the best father to our children.

The Sad Spook is afraid to fly………..LMAO She has nothing of Angie’s stellar characteristics…….n.o.t.h.i.n.g. Ask Brad, hens…’s rather apparent whom he thinks has the ‘power’……….

Angie doesn’t need to pay a publicist major coin to stay visible……….her acts and deeds garner her all the attention she can handle……not that she gives a flying fcuk…….unlike Ticky who doesn’t have a life outside of her own ambitions. Sad part is tho, she isn’t talented enough to get kudos from her peers and public………..she has to get it as the ‘women scorned’……..the tab queen.

Well seven years and six kids, several Oscar noms, ubiquitous awards, major humanitarian accomplishments and global fame and admiration, the JP’s are still going strong and ticky’s well has dried up along with her ovaries.
