Dakota Fanning takes a walk to grab dinner with friends on Tuesday (March 27) in New York City.

Multiple news outlets are reporting that the 18-year-old actress lost out to Chloe Moretz for the leading role in a remake of the classic horror film Carrie – but it’s not true!

Sources tell that Dakota passed on the role and never even auditioned for the movie.

Dakota is currently fielding other movie offers and may go back to school in the fall.

    The last person i see fit for playing carrie is chloe moretz! dakota would actually be the most ideal and believable for a remake, but smart to pass up remaking a classic because it could be a flop
