Taylor Kitsch & Lynn Collins: 'John Carter' in Tokyo!

Taylor Kitsch and Lynn Collins attend a press conference for their film, John Carter, at the Ritz Carlton Tokyo on Monday (April 2) in Tokyo, Japan.

The night before, the co-stars premiered the sci-fi action flick, which opens April 13 in Japan, at Roppongi Hills.

Taylor is also in the country for his other film, Battleship.

The 30-year-old actor joined Alexander Skarsgard, Brooklyn Decker, Rihanna, Tadanobu Asano, and director Peter Berg aboard the USS George Washington for a photo call.

Late last month, Taylor and Brooklyn promoted Battleship in Spain, England, and Germany!

FYI: Lynn wore a Prabal Gurung dress with Christian Louboutin heels for the premiere. At the press conference, she paired her Honor dress with Prada heels.

I watched John Carter and thought it was great.. no joke. I have no idea why it did so poorly in the box office… except poor marketing and a lot of negative press. But honestly, I would definitely watch it again and will buy the dvd for sure!

John Carter has grossed over $300 million, and that’s without the BluRay sales and without it premiering in Japan. If it’s a “flop,” it’s the highest grossing “flop” in all of movie history.

Already pre-ordered it on BluRay – saw it twice in the theaters. :)

The movie Is actually a hit overseas, it made as much as Twilight did over there. Just the marketing here SUCKED.

@mags: Just for the record, it’s not huge overseas (speaking from overseas). In fact, given the amount of markets and pushy marketing, it’s done poorly worldwide so far.
It has, however, done great in Russia, for some reason.

Anyone & Everyone who states that this movie “is the biggest flop of all time”….has their head up their ass! Box office Mojo has it at 254 Million worldwide. By the end of it’s world wide run, it’ll be around 300 million, and with DVD sales (I’m definitely buying it… I saw it in 2D, and then in 3D….loved it in both formats) it should eventually cover itself into the black. And now Disney has something special to keep in their vaults for future generations. So far all of my friends that have seen it, have loved it. John Carter was the mighty Samson with a dash of Superman.

However, unlike the haters & nay sayers, I am not blind to the fact that relative to it’s budget, it was not a huge success. But in my mind, that was Disney’s fault with regards to managing their money. And to some degree, the directors fault….if you want to be a perfectionist to the point where you up the risk of the movie not making it’s budget back, then you have to live with the consequences. But the BIGGEST mistake of all was the Marketing Department. Of all the friends who went to see this movie…..AND I MEAN ALL, the wife of each and everyone of them, DID NOT WANT TO SEE THIS MOVIE. So If there is one reason why this movie did not reach it’s potential, it’s because women refused to go see it. And it’s shame to, because the female lead in this movie (Dejah Thoris – Played brilliantly by Lynn Collins) was absolutely kick ass! But if you were to ask just about any female movie lover, they’d probably go….”There was a Princess in the movie?” Yeah, like I said, it’s a shame, because the romance in the movie was nicely done.

But oh well, it is what it is. I just hope they do a great sequel, even if it’s on a more economical budget. Because I definitely want to see what happened to Carter & Dejah.

@Nightwing1: What better happen is Dejah goes on a diet or she will be replaced. Body make-up and strategically placed “tattooing” can only do so much.
