Alexander Ludwig shows off his bicep in an American Apparel tank in this feature from Da Man‘s April/May 2012 issue.
Here’s what the 19-year-old actor, who also suited up for the mag’s cover, had to share:
On bulking up to play Cato in The Hunger Games: “I gained almost 40 pounds of muscle for this role. I’m currently working on getting back to how I was before Cato. As an actor, I feel that it’s important to make a physical commitment to create a character and it’s also important for me to return to my normal self.”
On his music career: “Check out my new song ‘Liv It Up’ currently available on iTunes! I’ve always been very passionate about music and am currently working on creating an album. [My favorite musicians are] Red Hot Chili Peppers, Eminem, a variety of country artists including Rodney Atkins.”
On making films: “My parents know how passionate I’ve always been about acting. I convinced them this was something that I was going to put my heart and soul into. They encourage me 100 percent. I couldn’t do it without their support.”

Loved him in Hunger Games but his pictures are hilarious.
I think he’s one of those guys who looks really good on film as apposed to being photographed. Not saying he isn’t good looking because he is! When I saw the Hunger Games I was like holy crap Cato is HOT! But whenever I see pictures oh him I’m just like “yeah he’s alright I guess..”

I really like him as a person but whenever he is at photoshoots he gets this wierd glazed look in his eyes. Like he knows he is sexy
he only got that part because his dad is an executive at lionsgate.
I had a moment the other night where I thought he was cute. Looked him up, saw he was 19 and went, “Nope. I’m too young to be a cougar.” Moment’s gone lol
And I’m sorry but are you really trying to boost your music career? LOL
He’s the male version of Lana del Rey: “My rich Daddy is paying big money trying to make me a Movie Star.”

All the tributes in the movie was really good except him! So overacted!
He gained 40 pounds of muscles, and now he wants to get skinny again ? He must’ve putted so much effort into it – so much time, so much energy. He looks a lot better, and probably feels better – faster and stronger. So what’s the point of letting it all go ? I’m working out and gaining muscles is a very slow process for me – I would be over the moon if I gained so much muscles. And would do anything to keep it.
