Dakota Fanning Covers 'Wonderland' April/May 2012

Dakota Fanning graces the cover of Wonderland‘s April/May issue in this exclusive JustJared.com preview.

Here’s what the 18-year-old actress had to share with the mag:

On her breakout role in 2001′s I Am Sam: “For someone who’s that young to feel completely at home being filmed playing someone else, that really means that that’s where you belong. So that’s how I view that film as a whole – as a moment when I just realized, ‘I could do this. I could do this forever.’”

On fame: “I’ve never really felt like a child star, that name always felt really odd to me. I’ve just felt like I was an actor at 6 and 7 and, you know, a child who happened to act. But when you turn 18 you’re seen as able to do more things and more roles.”

On staying away from social media: “I just … I really don’t need to let people know where I am and what I’m doing. I feel like a lot of people want their privacy but yet they … tell people where they are. [Laughs] It’s just not for me. I don’t have a Facebook or Twitter and I won’t ever. There’s plenty of impostors out there! There’s enough Dakota Fannings on Twitter for all of us!”

I’m constantly impressed by her. She’s very talented, smart and stays away from the attention-seeking crap her peers pull. Gotta love her!

her eyes are AMAZING!! A very talented actress, and yet still so young. It will be wonderful to see how this actress will mature and what roles she will take. I am dead certain that she is the next GREAT actress of her generation and through her life career.

@aimee: Exactly ! Not only that but they always stroll around, shop, eat, go out at paparazzi infested places. You don’t see De Niro and Meryl Streep in there.
These young celebs crave the fame, they want and need to be seen and talked about to stay relevant. There’s an agenda behind everything they say and do. Don’t believe a word they say.
[insert actress' name] : “I don’t intend to do this for the rest of my life. I enjoy doing other things and my privacy blablabla”
10 years later: “When I was young I was obsessed with my career, not anymore, all I want to do is raise my kids now. Imma take a few years off blablabla”
1 month later: “I lost the weight naturaly you know…just my genes. I’m very excited to be part of X’s movie, it’s a great project.”
and so on.

I really like the fact that she do not has a twitter or facebook. That makes her more interesting and i think “Stars” who tweet everthing and put private photos on their facebook accounts should not complain about having no private life, but they do.

I appreciate that she’s stayed normal but she’s getting a bit pretentious with age.

Love that she pretty much confirms that celebrities call on the paparazzis and give up their location.

@wake-up call:

I complete agree about the priviety thing?

Toir Spelling for example is always complaining about the paparizze not giving her any priviety and yet she on twitter all the time talking about we’re she going, what she doing and she has a reality show exploding her family privacy and when she not doing that she selling pictuers of her baby showers one kids birthday parties.

@Lola:

She didn’t say that some celebrities call the paparizze but when they post on their twitter page that they’re going to be at this place at this time they know that the paparizze are going to be there.

She continues to impress me the older she gets in a business that has ruined many young people. I think her parents have done a great job.

Don’t ask me why but her and her sister always remind me of Jeff and Beau Bridges. I keep wondering which sister will be the working actor like Beau and which sister will be the “A” lister like Jeff. Either way both of these young ladies are impressive actors

@anon: I wonder this too!! I think Dakota will be the working actor and Elle the A list since Elle seems to be getting juicer roles with huge directors and Dakota’s career has slowed down a little bit.

@mel:

I agree with your take on Elle but I am not so sure you can say Dakota’s career has slowed down. She’s got a full slate of films coming up and she has been in big budget films and low budget, indy films. Bottom line; too early to tell is my opinion.

” I feel like a lot of people want their privacy but yet they … tell people where they are ” — exactly!!! pretty much every celebrity will call the paparazzi and tell them where they’re at and yet people feel sorry for them.

You’re in holly wood – you want your pic taken, simple as that.

She’s got Bette Davis eyes…

She don’t want stalkers.

I just noticed the hands over her in the second pic, a little creepy.

Wow, a lot of positive comments, haven’t read them all so I hope I’m not repeating, but in my opinion, Dakota Fanning has a classic beauty to her. She’s going to go far and I wish her all the best.

She’s a child star cause she shines like one. I’m looking forward to seeing more of her work in future. She’s got all the makings of a real leading lady, maybe “the” leading lady of her generation of actresses.

Go, Dakota, go!!
