Jennifer Lawrence & Bradley Cooper: 'Serena' First Look!

Check out this first look pic of Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper in the upcoming Serena, out later this year.

The film follows newlyweds George (Cooper) and Serena Pemberton (Lawrence) who travel from Boston to the mountains of North Carolina where they begin to build a timber empire in 1929. Serena soon shows herself to be the equal of any man: overseeing crews, hunting rattle-snakes, even saving a man’s life in the wilderness. Together, this king and queen rule their dominion, killing or vanquishing all who stand in the way of their ambitions. But when Serena learns that she can never bear a child, she sets out to murder the woman who bore George a son before his marriage. And when she starts to suspect that George is protecting his illegitimate family, the Pembertons’ intense, passionate marriage begins to unravel as the story moves toward its shocking reckoning.

Okay, first off, the movie sounds interesting and I will see it. However, why is the age gap widening between actors and their female co-stars? I mean, Cooper is at least 15 years older then JLaw? Geez!

    Mia Says:

^ Agreed. But maybe the age gap is on purpose? lol I have no clue.

    Sabrina Says:

@Gossipgirl: Maybe, but she looks older here ! It doesn’t, at least in that picture, appear to be a problem !

    Missy Says:

Well, maybe I’m being too naive here, but many of these young actresses (Jennifer Lawrence, Emma Stone etc.) are extremely talented, so why not cast an actress that’s a bit younger as long as she’s good at what she’s doing… ?
Besides, I think Jennifer Lawrence can play a girl in her late teens as well as a woman in her twenties!

Wow, this role sounds pretty fierce. I’m not sure how her chemistry with Bradley will be, though.

I know hollywood likes to pair off men with much younger women but in this case i find the couple very realistic. It’s the 20′s and rich men would usually get married with much younger women.

    ck Says:

Good point @catdog re that this is a period piece when men of wealth could pretty much marry anyone they wanted.

    Oh yea..I love Jennifer Lawrence

@Missy: Emma Stone talented?? Her acting already got old lol she was funny at teh beginning bow she seems forced and unnatural. Watch her Oscar skit and tell me she doesn’t overact. Give that same skit to say, Sandar Bullock and tell me how f*cking natural and charming she would be.
On a side note, I love Jen and I think she will be amazing on this as usual BUT I think she’s being type cast a little. I hope her next movies are different and we can see more of her and see if she’s a real talent like all the hype she gets says.

Her character is supposed to be around 27 when the book starts. She does look a little young but I don’t think it’ll be a big deal.

We need some fresh young male actors in Hollywood. Guys in their twenties. And a show case of them. Send the scouts out!

Cooper looks like he’s got constipation.

Type cast?! How? Her roles would have to be similar for that. How on Earth are Katniss Everdeen, Raven/Mystique, Tiffany from Silver Linings Playbook and the girl from this movie the same “type”?!

    Ivana Says:

Eh, they exist. It’s just that the Hollywood prefers to cast older actors and younger actresses. And it’s telling that some reviewers this year had a fit when Jennifer Lawrence’s male co-star was 2 years younger than her (shock! horror!) while they were both playing characters a few years younger than they are, and pronounced that this kind of pairing was completely unconvincing since he was “too young” (which probably translates to: “Man, that Jennifer Lawrence is so fine, it should be me, 40-year old critic, getting chicks like that, not some kids close to her own age”. ). As opposed to her being paired up with an actor 15 year older than herself in TWO movies. (I don’t have anything against it – just pointing out the funny facts about Hollywood…)
