Paul Iacono: I'm Gay

Hard Times of RJ Berger star Paul Iacono just revealed that he’s gay.

The 23-year-old actor came out publicly in an interview on Wednesday (April 11) with The Village Voice while promoting his new show , Kenzie’s Scale, where he plays one half of a homosexual college couple living in New York City.

“I’m rolling with the punches here,” Paul explained. “I was asked if I was comfortable doing gay press. I said ‘Of course.’ I didn’t think I’d be coming out. But why not now? I think it’s the right time to say something. It’s not about me, it’s about change and the work.”

Paul went on to say that growing up, he struggled with coming to terms with his sexuality. “I tried coming out a couple of times as a kid, from 13-14 on, and was always squashed on,” he shared.

Who is he? Why does he matter… Next…

  • Chupa

    Good for him.

Good for you! Who ever you are!

  • Jamie

Why are these no name people coming out of the closet? We don’t know you, who cares!

  • sdf

Not trying to be funny, but who is he?

  • Joseph Galliano-Doig

@Jamie: I find your tone rather mean-spirited. If Showbiz people have always found it difficult to come out, then perhaps Paul Iacono helps contribute to an overall atmosphere where people be open without it being some big dea – and is also reflective of a slow shift culturally. It’s likely that the A listers will also be looking at the overall culture and context to make their own moves. Your unwelcoming tone makes me feel that someone might be damned if they do damned if they don’t.

I don;t know who he is either, but I still welcome anyone who allows themselves to be visible. It can only make things easier for kids.

@Jamie: Can I be honest? Just because YOU don’t watch his programmes doesn’t mean he is a no-name. There are a lot of actors that there has been news about lately that I don’t have a clue about cos I’ve never seen their work. But that is still not because they are nobodies.

Good for him. I think it’s great that there are young actors in Hollywood who are coming out. Support 100%

I love all these “who is he”, “next” comments. First, if you genuinely don’t know who he is, there are posts that go along with these titles and pictures since most of you saying these things don’t take the time to read them. If the write-up included doesn’t suffice there is a wonderful thing called google; the time it takes to type “who is he” could be used to actually answer the question for yourselves. And to the “who cares” commenters .. why even bother commenting, really? … Anyways good for Paul! :)

Anyone who has followed Paul one Twitter is not surprised by this … he is a pretty open (and funny) guy … and way adorable.

Most of them in Hollywood are gay, so this really shouldn’t be news, nor should it get special recognition. I think the few straight people in Hollywood should get special recognition instead..”I’m an entertainer, and I’m straight!” Being straight in Hollywood is odd to us regular folks.
