Everyone I know who saw it said it was a good, funny movie.

So happy for think like a man. Mostly african american cast topping the box office, no tabloid folder, just plain old good storyline and acting talent. what hollywood should strive for, not more celeb obsess white media.

I’m just happy it’s not one of those STUPID stereotypical Madea movies. But I want to watch this one.

  • jenfan

i really want to watch this!!!! happy tht its first..loved THG too!! it still up!!

  • Margo

Yayyyyy for Think Like A Man!!!! great news! I really hope it’s able to pull numbers like that next weekend too :)

i’m happy a predominantly Black cast made number one. Doesn’t happen too often. So, good for them.

  • Mary H.

@anna: Tyler Perry isn’t helping black people at all with Madea movies. They make us look so bad.

  • Liz

Good…it’s obvious that people get tired of looking at white movies all the time lol.

I want this movie to fail so bad, it’s horrible in every way possible! And the fact that black women are sleeping, not knowing, or refusing to know how bad it is for them is sad and frightening.
It’s a horrible movie and the male black actors have said some really horrible things about black women. Tyler Perry just wants your money, they don’t give a crap about you!
Stop giving these cretins your money, support tv series like “Scandalous” with Kerry Washington instead of wasting your money on these black women hating coons!

I am so glad Think Like a Man did well. Hunger Games was due to go down and I bet the money was on Zac Efron’s movie to take the top spot. For TLAM to bet TL1 by 10 mil at the box office was a wonderful surprise. A movie with a predominately black cast and a good story can be a commercial success despite conventional “wisdom”. This movie didn’t have to rely on showmances or hook-ups between cast members to get buzz. Instead, they put out a half-hour special the night before the premiere to give a taste. Bravo to the whole cast.

@Mary H. Yeah it does make all of us look bad, Im nothing like that. I wish his movies burn. I don’t see how any of it is funny.

If thinking like a man means Harvey was compelled (desperate?) to add the abuser chris brown to his movie, even in a cameo role, I’ll be proud to think like an intelligent and logical person by giving zero dollars to this flick. Too bad, and very disappointing.

  • H

@anna: What does Madea have to do with this movie? This is not a Tyler Perry film.

  • Dave Franco

I haven’t seen one single promo of this on TV or anywhere… yet this is #1 film in America. Pretty impressive!

  • Guy

It’s nice to see that a film with an African American that can take the number one spot but I just wish it were a smarter film, in the commercial you see Chris Brown (also, don’t know why he is in there) running off after sleeping with this woman and stealing her coffee. I mean, I know it happens in white movies too it’s just I want to see smarter more wholesome roles for African Americans because it makes it seem
Iike all there is in black relationships is sex, lies, and deceit. I hate to rant like this but you can’t help noticing the dynamics they have set in the media on how they think a black relationship should look like on film. I don’t want to judge too much since I haven’t seen it but it’s just my discrepency from what I have seen so far….

  • KissThis

This must be one hell of a funny movie to have stolen the #1 spot. Now I am intrigued!

  • Kay

Showmances and cast hookups wouldn’t make an iota of difference. The media doesn’t care about black people let alone their love life. This goes back to the consumer who consume media stories. Let’s hope more movies in hollywood get top box office for its story and acting, not because its stars are pretty white people with no acting abilities.

Even NPR movie critic gave TLAM the thumbs up! and he’s a snob.

  • um

    It was good,

  • Derpina

Actually this just looks like a “black version” of movies like “He’s Just Not That Into You”, not a big deal, say people will go watch this expecting “good acting and story” is overrate it too much, this is the movie from the guy who gave us “Taxi” and “Fantastic Four” movies, even some Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer movies have debuted in first place, don’t have stars, good acting, good story, not even technical qualities, and some people are still interested
