James Franco: 'Francophrenia' Premiere!

James Franco attends the premiere of his new flick, Francophrenia (Or: Don’t Kill Me, I Know Where The Baby Is), during the 2012 Tribeca Film Festival held at the School of Visual Arts Theater on Sunday (April 22) in New York City.

The 33-year-old actor posed for cameras and joked around with the movie’s director, Ian Olds, before heading inside.

The mini-thriller is comprised of TV footage of James‘s guest-starring appearances on the American daytime drama, General Hospital, and also co-stars Steve Burton and Vince Jolivette.

Hes such a jack of all trades becaues he’s a master at none and spends all his time trying to get people to believe he’s this super deep artist. P I S S artist more like. seriously? this is a film? old footage of thsi windbag has been made into a film? and this is art i suppose?! what a waste of money

I love this guy, he is so very talented and that smile. Always, on a different level than the rest.

Francophrenia, it’s unique, insane and funny, worth the watch, some people maybe more than once. Years to come studies might be done on this movie, it’s fantastic.

Will we ever understand Franco probably not, do I 100% care no but just keep doing your own thing, your way and never change, it works much much more than it fails and that’s a lesson we all could learn to try.

@Kaylee: What planet are you on. You mean the James Franco Oscar nominee and one of the most versatile actors working today.

The guy who’s narrated excellent documentary about Charles and Ray Eames called Eames: The Architect and the Painter (will be showered with more awards soon and rightly so) plus his book Dangerous Book Four Boys, which apparently Forbes claims has outsold Patti Smith at the recent book signing, that guy. That’s without listing his other achievements.

James Franco might be many things but underachiever is not one of them. By the way, how is he loving himself, when this whole site functions on photo’s of celebrities posing for one thing or another?

If you don’t like him why bother even looking him up? No one is focusin you to watch his latest project, but it looks good and might be of interest to some.

@Kaylee: There’s nothing wrong with getting an education and trying new things. Everyone has hobbies and things they wish they could try. James is lucky enough to be able to do that. I don’t think he ever claimed to be the best at anything. He’s just following his interests and there’s nothing wrong with that. What would you like him to do? Read scripts and act? Would that make him acceptable? Seriously, interesting people aren’t just one thing. Even bankers do other things. You might try opening up your mind to things other than negative comments towards people you don’t know.

    Libby Says:

This movie was brilliant. For too many reasons. James Franco is just a guy–being a guy with a camera on him. The commentary on celebrity and identity is just incredible. Long takes which pretty much examplify the way fans will do long takes of stares and looks at a star. The internal conversation that James is having through the whole thing. All of it. It’s really a deep wonderful experimental film

He isn’t forcing you to pay to watch his films, books, art and I believe you voluntarily opened this article. If you don’t like him don’t read about him!
I think he is talented and I applaud him for having different interests and doing them. He’s not just the usual celebrity doing drugs and drinking. He’s actually using his brain. This film has received
    Very good reviews.

You fangurls are delusional. He looks so OLD and UGLY now! He looks 45 instead of 34.

  14. 14
    Jealous Tool Says:

@Gross: And yet, you were still interested enough to check him out. Who exactly is the delusional one. What’s wrong in being 45, we all get older, as such it is the end of the world or sometime. Funny, how you knew his right age was 34 though.

The man looks great and going about his business very well, you however appear ugly on the inside and jealous as f***.

So enjoy the fruits of his labor, so talented and quite fetching, in a most unique and heady way…

this is not a film. This is not a thriller, this is not funny, not dramatic; it’s nothing. it’s just the repetition of the same action minute after minute. After 20 mins it became a slow agony till the end. I think it’s the worst film I ever seen. One day I saw at Maxxi (Like the Moma but in Rome) an artist who put a video of 15 seconds. He was in front of the camera completely naked, wearing just box gloves. The first 7 seconds he was fighting in front of the camera then sit and starts to masturbate.
This guy said the same message in 15 seconds…
