Cate Blanchett arrives at the 2012 Met Ball held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art on Monday (May 7) in New York City.
The 42-year-old actress wore an Alexander McQueen dress with Van Cleef & Arpels jewels.
Earlier in the day, Cate took her 4-year-old son Ignatius shopping along Madison Avenue.
Cate can next be seen on the big screen in The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, which is slated to hit theaters in December.
The movie co-stars Orlando Bloom, Luke Evans, Elijah Wood, and Evangeline Lilly.
