Kristen Stewart hits the red carpet in style at the 2012 Met Ball held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art on Monday (May 7) in New York City.
The 22-year-old actress rocked a Balenciaga by Nicolas Ghesquière dress to the affair!
Earlier in the day, Kristen was spotted leaving her hotel looking cool and chic in a leather jacket.

This year’s Costume Institute Gala Benefit – celebrating the opening of the Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations exhibition – is co-chaired by Carey Mulligan, Vogue editor Anna Wintour, and designer Miuccia Prada.

That dress is probably worth about 9000 dollars or so maybe more since it’s Balenciaga but it’s hideous! I could find this for 20 bucks at a thrift store. There are some beautiful designer clothes and then there’s this. Outfits that look like they just slapped a bunch of different swatches together. Doesn’t make any sense to me! But whatever, to each his own.
Kristen was so gorgeous at the the last 2 premieres that I had high expectations. This is disapointing. Then again, Kristen is Kristen. The outfit does not do anything for her. Different shoes would have help, and maybe her hair up or something. She is not the only one wearing short dresses though.

balenciaga don’t do pink frilly dresses. Her hair looks too casual but overall she really embodies the brand: young, leather, red and black, cool chick.
I am not wild about the outfit but different shoes would have been better, and maybe a bit of attitude. In her defense, the Met is supposed to be daring and avant garde so the outfit is appropriate. Fearing harsh criticism, too many women go the safe away and end up wearing prom and princess-like dresses including some older women which is so sad. Kristen has been experimenting with fashion and maybe having fun but fashion is not truly her thing. She seems to be giving it a try and from a distance it looks like she is becoming a full fashionista but she is not. She will continue to give a try though but does not appear to want to turn it into a major component of her career and life. She understands that fashion and movies will go together and that she has to dress up for premieres and stuff but she will eventually become less and less part of the fashion scene. She tries and she is daring.
Kristen will wear what Kristen wants to wear. Just like Chloe Sevigny, the Olsens, and Tilda Swinton. They are of different ages but they wear different stuff that most people don’t like. That’s who they are.

Can’t quite say that I love it but it is so good to see that her choosing something she can be comfortable in and not attempting gown type of dress. don’t like the shoes, but can’t come up with something that would have looked better. Pumps or ballerinas would have diminished the overall feel. Perhaps if shoes were blue instead of white the look appeared more put together.

@Dee: Stewart is the face of Balenciaga. This is an example of the downside of being its rep: you are required to wear their clothes at major events, no matter if the outfit makes you look bad. If by chance this was Stewart’s choice, she made a wrong call. Either way she looks like she stepped out of a clown car.
Just because it was eye catching doesn’t make it good. It’s different and risky but not the type that will make a mark in the fashion world. It is bad, it’s not even her style. Maybe her stylist thought that it will get attention, and it did.
