Jessica Chastain and Eva Longoria walk the red carpet during the 2012 Cannes Film Festival‘s opening ceremony held at Palais des Festivals on Wednesday (May 16) in Cannes, France.
The Help actress, who arrived in the French Riviera the day before, paired an Alexander McQueen gown with Louis Vuitton jewelry. Eva wore a Marchesa gown with Brian Atwood heels and Damiani earrings.
Also pictured at the event, which served as the premiere of Moonrise Kingdom: Jane Fonda and Alec Baldwin (in Ermenegildo Zegna) with his fiancee, Hilaria Thomas.

What in heaven’s name is Eva Longoria doing at Cannes? She is a TV star. When was the last time she was in a movie?
Jane Fonda has an amazing figure for a 74 year old. Too bad she felt the need to mess with her face though.

Eva is a spokesperson for L’Oreal, who sponsors Cannes Film Festival. Thats why Eva, Asihwariya Rai, Elizabeth Banks, Cheryl Cole, Frieda Pinto etc, may turn up at the film festival.
@dianad1968: Eva has a contract with l’oreal. And every year a bunch of celebrities that have contracts with l’oreal walk the red carpet. That includes Milla Jovovich, Aishwarya Rai, Fan BIngbing, Doutzen Kroes and many others.
Eva Longoria is just beautiful and resplendent in her gown. I would love to see her in the big screen someday.

Eva is there to represent L’Oréal, she’s under contract and HAS to show up every year. that’s the deal.
Thank goodness for her hair commercial, because she has no right to be there. Eva is one of those annoying celebs who manages to get herself invited to everything and who is everywhere, yet she is so forgetable on the small or big screen (she has no chance at a big-screen career), her character on DH was basiscally 1-note. she befriends people “higher” up than her on the Hollywood chain (Victoria Beckham, Penelope Cruz) which fools the public into thinking “boy is she popular and in demand!”. She is not significant as an actress, but she is smart in her PR moves.

Eva is a rat faced buck toothed midget it’s an embarrassment to have her there she doesn’t even have a TV show anymore.
Who cares why Eva is there. If we get to see gowns like this, then really, what are you all bitching about? And frankly so what to any of it, its just another trumped up self congratulating elitist-fest. This isn’t an Nobel ceremony, they’re not curing cancer, they’re only actors. People need to stop taking this sort of thing so seriously.
