Emily Blunt: I Planned to be a U.N. Translator

Emily Blunt graces the cover of Glow‘s Summer 2012 issue.

Here’s what the 29-year-old actress had to share with the Canadian mag:

On being selective with roles: “I want to play people who are full of complexity with a great story and are multi-layered. The parts I’ve played have come from the films with scripts that surprised, challenged, or scared me.”

On beauty: “I love imperfection. I love seeing that every line on someone’s face has come from something. I wonder about the story behind the liners on the face. I think that is real beauty. To me, the most beautiful people are the most dynamic, vibrant, happy people. Personality comes through in your eyes, skin, the way you move and smile. People who spend too much time trying to look perfect lose some sort of magic.”

On her career path: “I was planning on going to university to study modern languages to be a translator for the U.N. When I was 17 and doing a play just to earn some money over the summer, an agent came to see it and said, ‘You should do this; it’s something you can do.’”
