Emily Blunt: I Planned to be a U.N. Translator

Emily Blunt graces the cover of Glow‘s Summer 2012 issue.

Here’s what the 29-year-old actress had to share with the Canadian mag:

On being selective with roles: “I want to play people who are full of complexity with a great story and are multi-layered. The parts I’ve played have come from the films with scripts that surprised, challenged, or scared me.”

On beauty: “I love imperfection. I love seeing that every line on someone’s face has come from something. I wonder about the story behind the liners on the face. I think that is real beauty. To me, the most beautiful people are the most dynamic, vibrant, happy people. Personality comes through in your eyes, skin, the way you move and smile. People who spend too much time trying to look perfect lose some sort of magic.”

On her career path: “I was planning on going to university to study modern languages to be a translator for the U.N. When I was 17 and doing a play just to earn some money over the summer, an agent came to see it and said, ‘You should do this; it’s something you can do.’”

I like her more and more. And her story about how she became an actress is nice.

Her career is certainly less “boring” for her than being a U.N. translator. And officially less boring for me because well.. she’s beautiful :)

I love what she says about beauty and I absolutely agree with her. It’s such a shame people use fillers and whatnot to make themselves look younger. I’d like to die looking like I lived my life rather then look like a plastic doll.

What she said about beauty is spot ON. She seems like such a nice and mature person. So refreshing when you look at everyone else in this industry!

Still amazed she is only 29. Looks much older.

If she loves imperfection, than why did she get her teeth capped? They look like horses teeth now compared to when she first started acting. what a hypocrite!

@Peaches: I was thinking the same thing! She looks barely recognizable at this point.
