'Saturday Night Live' Says Farewell to Kristen Wiig - Video

Kristen Wiig gave her final performance as a regular cast member on Saturday Night Live during the show’s season finale on Saturday (May 19).

The episode featured guest host Mick Jagger, who doubled as the evening’s musical guest.

During the final sketch of the night, the entire cast appeared in graduation caps and gowns with Mick playing a teacher.

“Many of you are moving onto college, but I’d like to take a moment to say goodbye to one particular student who is leaving this summer… to become a nun,” Mick said before calling Kristen up to briefly slow dance with each cast member.

SNL creator Lorne Michaels even appeared as the final dance partner while Kristen could barely contain her tears.

Good riddance. Now SNL might have a shot at airing some sketches which elicit real laughter versus tepid obligatory tenure based chuckles.

@6 100: are you for real? that show isn’t funny, regardless of who stays or leaves. the show is pure crap.

Great show. Mick’s still “got it” and looked great. Foo fighters were too loud and tried to drown out Mick. When the guitarist sang, you could really tell that Mick has the stronger voice and the other guy had a hard time keeping up. Arcade Fire was awesome and Mick’s still the man!!!

Amy Poehler could have dressed up for the farewell. She looked like a dowdy moonshiiner drinking her own inventory. As far Kristen, didn’t know if it was for real or not until the crying began. There’s no crying in comedy.

I had heard the rumors, and the looks on her face and Jason Sudeikis’s face before they took off the gowns told me it was true. Jason and Bill had a bit of a hard time containing themselves, and you could tell Kristen was close to both of them by the tears and their serious dances (they weren’t just flitty and lighthearted).

Sudeikis was fighting back tears after his dance with Wiig.

Kristen!!!! So sad to see her go. I think it was a classy and fabulous way to have her sign off the show, and I loved that Lorne came out at the end too. Whether or not you like/understand/appreciate her sense of humor, there is no denying what kind of impact she had on the show. No denying, either, the fact that that show will certainly not be the same without her. She has like 6 or 7 projects in the works…girl is GOING places.

So sad to see her leave, but what a fitting farewell. Her leaving Snl is bittersweet for me, I love seeing her each week, but I’m sure she’ll do great in Hollywood.
Watching her trying to contain her tears, yet still continuing on, made me tear up a bit. Snl won’t be the same.
