Katy Perry: You Don't Have To Be Perfect To Achieve Your Dreams

Katy Perry chats about her upcoming film Katy Perry: Part Of Me while making an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show today (May 22) in Los Angeles.

“I thought it was important to show everything in between. I think sometimes people think that we’re perfect and we know we’re not perfect, at all.” the 27-year-old singer (in Jean Paul Gaultier) told host Ellen about shooting all aspects of her life for the film, including her marriage to now ex Russell Brand.

“I think it’s important to start breaking down the idea that to achieve your dream you always have to be perfect or flawless or live in some kind of fantasy world. So that’s why I decided to put everything into the film,” Katy said. “In the most tasteful way. But mostly it’s about how I go there and the ride along the way which can be bumpy but mostly it was extremely fun.”

What is she talking about? You definitely need looks to get into the business and be noticed. Look at al the pop stars; prettified by the masses, and beloved by the gossip sites.

Bottom Line: Looks gets yo far but talent is what keeps you afloat.

  • BloodbuzzOhio

She talks a lot of sh!t, doesn’t she? Almost as annoying as her music.

  • Annie

I don’t think she’s necessarily talking crap – I happen to think many of these so called “stars” are pretty darn ordinary looking without great makeup, hair, clothing lighting and photoshop (not to mention plastic surgery, personal trainers, botox etc). C’mon? Blake Lively anyone? Average as hell inside and out. Some who really did have true natural beauty like Vivienne Leigh and Elvis still had psychological “flaws” like depression, etc.

Then of course there are many others who are far from perfect in the hollywood way who achieve their dreams in medicine, science, public speaking etc.

  • NYC

I like her but after paying $500 a ticket to hear her lip sync in NJ, I found that quite annoying.
Her voice is not great in a live show but you cannot take your eyes off of her. She just has that X-factor as an entertainer. The unexplained star power. I think a live show should be LIVE not recorded. Her last tour was too demanding and the audience got ripped off.

  • Hamed

every one who gets to fame says “blah blah blah”.

  • Me

@NYC: NYC – She has backing singers, but absolutely promise you she has never once lip synced (I know, you were there, I wasn’t, but she doesn’t lip sync, she’s even spoken out against it), and I hope she never does, no matter what she sounds like, just because it sounded good, doesnt mean she lipped… You sure it was her show and not a tribute act?

  • Bryn

We all know she’s not perfect. She can’t sing and looks heinous without ten pounds of makeup. Go away.

  • Perfect

No, you don’t have to be perfect Katy, you just need to have the right connections. for sure, your talent and looks didn’t take you there….Go away already!

  • Jennica Panettiere

Another celebrity selling sugar coated lies so that they can make more money.

Would love to have seen Katy make this announcement with no make up on and sung live. Defeats the whole purpose of what she’s trying to say.

Why can’t a celebrity just come out and say “Showbiz is a glorified lottery and I won a ticket!”

  • Miranda

Katy’s just a talentless and generic pop star who can’t sing and will probably be gone in a couple years. Another young and hotter singer will steal the spotlight. Looks will only take you so far.

  • http://website,computer Dave From Canada

I like all the STARS on her stockings. Nice touch!

  • Cinesnatch

Money helps. Just ask Lana Del Rey.

  • sorella

Why don’t today’s pop stars like Justin, Rhianna, Katy and all, just STFU and sing. Ugh, they are all best heard on radio, but otherwise they never have anything of great intelligence to say. Shut up and sing your little silly pop song and we will bop along to your forgetable music and hum along to your silly songs that nobody will remember in 5+ years, but they need to stop thinking they are so DEEP and changing lives. There is a reason they are all so into Twitter and dropping a video or song every other week, they know they marching towards irrelevance until the next pop star comes along.

  • hello1

wow more Lady Gaga copying, first the inspirational message and the dark look. Katy make better music before spitting out words too big for your small brain

  • Delilah

She has recently opened up to waay too many people, hasn’t she??

  • Sam

    Whatever haters.. she’s AWESOME!

  • J. Ry

This “generic pop star” just happens to be a singer and songwriter who just happened to have her last 5 singles go to #1. She is literally tied with Michael Jackson for most #1s off of one album. She’s not going anywhere anytime soon.

The worst of the no talent posers in an industry full of them.
