@Strange Thanks! I just checked out his IMDB page too. More links are popping up.

@Whycantipost: #77 **”Sometimes I wonder what Stellan thinks of all of this, since he has worked with Orlando multiple (and lenghty) times. He probably knew KB too. He’s probably the ‘none of my business’-dad and AS the ‘I’m not gonna listen to you, I’m stubborn’-son xD”**

No, I would rather say he is the ‘he makes his own decisions’-dad and alex the ‘ I appreciate your advice very much, but have to decide myself’- son…:))
So good possible that there were advices from several sides, but everyone has to make the own experiences…in good and in bad…

as for ‘battleship’ you made some interesting points, but I personal don’t think that to make ‘battleship’ was a mistake. For several reasons – first; he could get a bigger audience with it than with indie-movies, which he obviously make too, anyway.
secondly; he has to make sure that a new role wouldn’t cross his TB-schedule. That makes a relatively small time “window”. And perhaps there were other good offers regarding “character roles” but had to reject it because the shooting time wouldn’t work with his regular schedule.
thirdly; he is now more famous in US and international too, thanks TB, but still not really in a position were producers/companies automatically would cast him just to sell tickets (like Cruise or Jolie). I guess he tries to make a good balance – serious roles or partial projects who are more arty and on the other hand -if possible- bigger movies (may be with smaller roles) or shows like TB, who give the possibility to pay your bills. :)
His father did and still do something similar since he startet his movie-career. And obviously he wasn’t that wrong with it.
A movie like ‘battleship’ will hopefully give the right dose of attention – to get someday in the future more of the more “interesting”, serious roles (and in the ideal case the better paid ones too)..;).
I think, today you mostly can’t be only a serious actor – anyway not in the beginning. Because I would say, the big art is in movies like Von Trier (even though he is of course an successful filmmaker) and small indie projects – the big money in movies like Jurassic Park etc. Unfortunately.

@Cafélady: If Battleship had done well, it would have been another thing to raise his profile. And though it’s not done well, I don’t think it’s hurt him, it’s not considered ‘his’ movie, he wasn’t the lead.

“Those are both huge bites out of a rotten apple, yet while “John Carter” got a noisy, prolonged thrashing from the showbiz media, “Battleship” has largely escaped scrutiny, except for a predictable round of opening weekend obituaries. (If I had a dollar for every headline that went “ ‘Avengers’ sinks ‘Battleship,’” I could probably finance a couple of movies myself.)”

If he gets this new role that would be interesting. It sounds like a cool premise. I do wonder about his British accent abilities though. A lot of people try it, and don’t do it very well. Although perhaps he could get rid of some of the SD twang he’s still holding onto.

@Macy: For me, the whole possible-supernatural-thing-behind the wall reminds me of what’s behind the wall in Game of Thrones/Song of Fire and Ice.
So hopefully whatever it is it won’t be zombies.

@ladybug:
Maybe it will be ancient Chinese spirits or something. I don’t think it will be zombies or anything like that but maybe something more mystical since that is pretty prominent in Chinese culture?

@Macy: That’s what I’m hoping, I think the GoT stuff is on my mind because I finished reading all the books just a couple of months ago.
Do something other than zombies, and don’t have it cold, and they’ll hopefully not be too similar. And no aliens!

@ladybug:
I just got the first book this weekend.
At least he’s taking a variety of projects. That’s always a good sign that people are considering him for things other than vampire roles or regular alpha male stuff.

@Macy: And that’s a good thing, that’s he’s on the radar for projects, they’re calling him.

@ladybug:
Exactly. He’s slowly building a decent resume.

@Texas Swede/Crew Member: Are you kidding? When you concocted your ridiculous SD story you became a message board joke! It blows me away that at 50-something you have a crazy AS obsession. By this time in your life you should have a cause you work for. Instead you have a deranged fan girl fixation.
