Gerard Butler: Amber Heard Exits 'Motor City'

Gerard Butler drops his car off at the valet before heading inside the SLS Hotel on Sunday (June 10) in Beverly Hills, Calif.

The 42-year-old actor has a handful of movies in the works, including Motor City.

The Albert Hughes-directed drama centers around a recently released felon who seeks revenge against those who framed him and put him in jail.

Amber Heard and Gary Oldman were reportedly set to co-star with Gerard in the flick, but Variety reports both actors are no longer attached to the project.

    Maybe Gerry was smart for keeping the press quiet about this. So far, his name hasn’t been mentioned.

  • Interesting

    @Curious?:
    Sounds like an angry journalist jealous of her. I wouldn’t take anything in the tabloids at face value. How would this person know anyway? It’s like Laney always trashing GB because she isn’t his type and she knows it and doesn’t like it.

    Of course they lurk and post as well. They just act like they don’t. They act like JJ is beneath them, just like some here at JJ act like WO is beneath them.
    .
    Truth is many members of WO are lurking and posting here and vice verse, so there is no use denying it on either side. I don’t think there is anything to be ashamed off. Both WO and JJ are good places for Gerry news.

  • PBS

    Not in defence of Lainey (her nickname for GB is particularly nasty IMO) but are Jon Stewart and Bill Maher jealous of the Republicans they skewer every night. Sorry once a week for Bill. I find the “Lainey or any journalists/media person etc” who trashes GB must therefore be bitter and jealous doesn’t wash. Are they all mean spirited to a degree yes of course but that is what makes up comedy, satire and gossip these days.

  • BROKEN RECORD!

    @PBS:
    “Are they all mean spirited to a degree yes of course but that is what makes up comedy, satire and gossip these days”.
    You raised an interesting point. But I think the difference between satirists, like Maher and Stewart, is that they are mocking an institution. Yes, of course they pick on individuals, but those individuals are a representative to the much larger prism of political alliances.
    Lainey has had a very well publicised falling out with Gerard, so that’s why people find her opinion extremely biased and full of BS.
    And what Lainey does is not a public service or satire.
    She picks on individuals who have absolutely zero bearing on government policy – something that concerns all citizens.
    I don’t think Lainey gossiping about Gerard’s ‘cocaine problem’ is a matter that will disrupt government policy.

  • Common Sense

    @PBS:
    Please, making these comments is not the same as political discourse. Politics has a purpose. Two different camps with different ideas on which direction they want the country to go.
    .
    Accusing a model with having done plastic surgery when you don’t have any proof is purely throwing sour grapes. It’s obvious that it’s coming from a place of envy. MG is not the only model women journalists seem to be envious of. Almost all models get similar treatment and speculation about their “real” assets from lower attractive women. So your comparison with politics doesn’t wash.

  • LMAO!

    @Interesting:
    iTAWY. How would this person know anyway? It’s total sour grapes. Women can’t be nice to each other. Apparently, they are nice only to women on the same level of beauty. Any women prettier than they are gets criticized and taken apart to prove she isn’t as beautiful as she appears. Somehow that makes them feel good in a sick childish way.

  • BROKEN RECORD!

    @Common Sense:
    ” Almost all models get similar treatment and speculation about their “real” assets from lower attractive women”
    Actually, you understand very little about publishing (online and otherwise).
    The comments about plastic surgery, the appearance of women etc, does not stem from jealousy. It’s so they can keep selling the innumerable face creams etc, that pays for these publications to stay in business.
    You’re obviously not a journalist. Journalists don’t come up with the ‘angle of a story’. Their editor does. And guess who their editor answers to? That’s right advertisers.
    There is a reason the ‘beauty’ industry is worth billions.
    You are very naive.

    “That’s why I think it sounds like an angry journalist jealous of her.”
    So when journalists claimed that Travolta got hair plugs that’s just jealousy too, right?

  • Common Sense

    @BROKEN RECORD!:
    I don’t exactly call these tabloids commentators real journalists. It’s just a generic term I use for them. For goodnmess sakes, this website is called the “gossip wrap up”. This week they are gossiping about MG, next week it will be another gorgeous model. They don’t have a Scoop about her. This is pure mean-spirited speculation.
    .
    I don’t need to be a journalist to understand this common sense. And please stop with your accusations of you must not be this or that. AS IF you are this or that. I don’t need your condescending attitude. You’re no journalist either or in the advertising field. You are just commenting for the sake of hearing yourself speak.

  • BROKEN RECORD!

    @Common Sense:
    “I don’t exactly call these tabloids commentators real journalists. ”
    Then don’t call them journalists then.
    I was only responding to the words that you wrote.
    My comment about you not being a journalist still stands. You made a comment, that a journalist would not make. I took a stab in the dark and was right, I guess.
    I said that you were naive if you honestly believed that the journalists wrote articles spurred on by jealousy.
    Sorry if I offended you, but to me it came across as an extremely ‘sheltered’ comment. Maybe coming from someone that doesn’t understand how publishing works.
    That’s all.

  • Interesting

    @BROKEN RECORD!:
    In the Travolta case the journalists are NOT making up the story, they are only reporting the allegations against him. They have a legitimate story on Travolta that will be going to court possibly. It’s vastly different than this situation with this person writing their own speculation on MG’s supposed plastic surgery which they have no proof, just speculation on their part.
    Do you see the difference here? Journalists are supposed to report the news, not make it up themselves from their own speculation.
    .
    @Common Sense:
    I agree Journalists is a loose term here. These are not exactly journalists. They are just gossip mongers.

    Do you think they actually care about MG and her cosmetic surgery? Of course not. If they could get a million hits, calling her a ‘reptilian monster’ they would.
    Every wonder why TMZ pay so much for incriminating pictures of celebrities. It’s about advertising revenue.

    It’s a generic term I used for journalists. I thought you understood the obvious. Apparently, you need semantics to understand.
    .
    And no I don’t think you took a stab at anything. All you wanted to do is prove to me that the journalists that wrote this piece, which you also referred to them as journalists in your original post, are not going to risk their advertisers, which HAS NOTHING TO DO with my point I am afraid. You need to reread my posts.
    .
    Are you a journalist? What are you exactly that you think you know anything about journalism and advertising? Please give us your credentials before you tell us things like they don’t want to risk their advertisers, when obviously this is not the case here because that foolish tabloid published this nonsense speculation on its website, which only means that this is how they make their money. It’s like RadarOnline, nothing more.

  • Interesting

    @BROKEN RECORD!:
    “In the Travolta case the journalists are NOT making up the story,”
    WRONG!”
    .
    What???

    Now that proves you are not a journalist because you don’t know the difference between reporting the news and driving the news. Journalists are supposed to report the news, not make it up themselves from their own speculation.
    .
    In the Travolta case the journalists are NOT making up the story, they are only reporting the allegations against him. I don’t see how you can refute that.

    Now I’m expected to know what you meant when you wrote the word journalist? Do I need to read your mind too, or am I able to go on what you wrote? Let me know next time you write one thing but mean another.
    My credentials are that I worked in finance and dealt with publishing houses for many years.
    Satisfied?
    And btw, what are yours?
    And like I said in my previous post, if you’re really only referencing these online bloggers and gossip sites and how they are mean to MG or any other model, then I would suggest that you hit ‘google’ because it’s not the exception.
    All I was saying that if you’re talking about the motivation for bloggers and journalists writing nasty things, it has almost all to do with revenue. It’s not right. But it’s the way the beast functions.
    Jealous journalists mean nada.

  • BROKEN RECORD!

    .
    So what’s the problem then? You agree with me. That’s why I agreed with “Interesting” that her supposed plastic surgery shouldn’t be taken seriously as truth/news. The tabloid with that comment doesn’t know anything definitive. The person writing it is just speculating, maybe out of jealousy, and the tabloid publishing it for profit of course. Either way, whatever the real motivation is, it shouldn’t be taken seriously. It’s not truth. it’s nothing more than what posters here have been saying about her looks.
    .
    Anyway, I would love to argue with you all night but I think we put this issue to rest.

    Even a halfway attractive 20-something girl has abundant prospects in real life.
    if a woman is here then she has emotional problems. Either her standards are way out of whack for being a middle-aged woman, or she’s really aggressive, or she’s really flakey, or she’s really avoidant (i.e. made anxious by feelings of intimacy). Most on here are Bis/exualVeganPoly/amo/rousFeminists who are “fluent in sarcasm” etc etc etc.

    I haven’t been around for a long, long time here, neither posting nor lurking. Don’t know why I dropped in and came to the last 2 pages here for all the discussion about journalism. I AM a veteran journalist, and I say REAL journalists do not print gossip. REAL journalists do not indulge in printing items because of jealousy of a star or model.We couldn’t care less. REAL journalists are not motivated by catering to advertisers either. There is pressure by advertisers, especially in the lesser publications, but REAL journalists don’t write what the advertisers want written. You resist that kind of pressure and tell them where to get off. You don’t lose your job for that because they know they can’t tell you to print lies.
    There are legitimate news outlets, big and small, that are pristine about prrinting truth, and there are tabloids and nowadays blogs by people in the free for all web who are NOT trained journalists who have no idea what the code of conduct is or anything about libel and print any old thing they feel like printing. The law will catch up with this. You have no idea how lawyers are waiting in the wings for the right shoe to fall.
    Have fun, you people, battling and fighting over Mr. Butler’s personal life, piling up thousands of comments that mean nothing.This thread is insanity

    I knew people would say politics are different but as far as I am concerned where it comes to personal attacks, it is not. Attacking a political stance or opinion is one thing. Personal attacks or innuendos aimed at politicians of all stripes often have nothing to do with public policy but taking a personal swipe because they can and the same thing goes on with celebrities. Comedians, pundits and gossip columnists, whether they are covering Washington or Hollywood and many cover both, get away with saying things you might not in the so called proper media because satire and the doctrine of “fair comment” have always allowed it. Doesn’t mean those personal attacks are any less mean spirited or any less hurtful to the individuals especially when the attacks migrate to family members for example who didn’t choose the public life. It just means that we say you are a public figure, buck up, it comes with the territory.

    It is like the nasty comments Gerry himself made about a female UK politician. How does calling a woman a cow have anything to do with politics?

    “Before I forget, he earned every fat joke made at his expense with these photos. Fans, quit your whining.
    Does anyone remember when he picked on Ann Widdecombe from Scotland and talked about how overweight and unattractive she was? He did that in interviews in Europe and on one of the late night shows here. Imagine how she felt having him humiliate her with that unprovoked attack. I don’t remember any fans sticking up for her back then like they are for him now.
    It looks like his karma is coming around.”

    I was just going to post that you get it. In the end, gossip columnists, political pundits and stand up comedians whether it is Lainey or Bill Maher or Jay Leno or Joan Rivers are not “jealous” of the people they skewer they do it because it’s their job, it is what they are paid to do, and the more provocative the better.
