Keira Knightley: UNICEF Chad Trip for Soccer Aid 2012

Keira Knightley holds a young child named Idris during a recent trip to Chad, Africa, as part of UNICFEF‘s Soccer Aid 2012.

The boy was only a year old when he contracted polio, paralyzing him from the waist down.

Keira called on the public to help raise funds, which would go towards vital immunization and vaccinations for children around the world.

Check out footage from Keira‘s trip below, where she meets Idris‘s family and spends time with him as he learns to walk with leg braces.

lovekn with all due respect I consider what Keira is doing to be extremely compassionate and thoughtful, not selfless. I think it takes a strong sense of one’s self and one’s values to be able to do what she is doing. The country of Chad is not exactly among the safest of places for high profile person such as Keira to be in. Therefore, I also have to give her credit for even having the courage to go such a place. I’m sure she has bodyguards or security there with her, but still Chad is not exactly a politically or socially stable place. So, I say God Bless Miss Keira Knightley! I felt compelled to donate and I did!
    God Bless!

She’s a wonderful woman; an interesting actress always in the search of challenging and provocative work, and a humble girl not interested in the more frivolous aspects of the industry, but in campaigns like this and others involving domestic violence.

Put the African baby down and step away slowly with your hands where we can see them.

Angelina’s NOT going to like this. Not one bit. Find your own damn cause, Keira. Angie’s got Africa, you know that! Find some people to help somewhere else. Scotland or Belize or something.

    Back off Santa Angelina’s territory!!

IM VERY PROUD OF HER TOO! =))) I swear she is just like Audrey Hepburn which makes me even admire her more! ^.^…you know, SHE should’ve been the ambassador for UNICEF…NOT SELENA. I mean look at it! Was there ever a time in Selena’s UNICEF ambassador life where she went to Africa???? NO NO NO. she only does adverts. & Here we have Keira, who is more compassionate and passionate about UNICEF and she’s not even the ambassador and she actually managed to GO TO AFRICA….If was offered to become a part of UNICEF or even an ambassador, I would straightly go and ask to go to africa on one of their missions.
