“Washington state has traditionally been such a wonderfully progressive place,” she told the paper. “There is nothing to be afraid of … Let people get married. Nothing will happen.”

“You’ll get to make a lot of gay people very happy,” Cynthia, who got married in May, added, “and you’ll feel proud. That’s how we feel in New York. Proud.”

    Yes!! Says:

Tell ‘em, Cynthia! Every state needs to make it legal, the world isn’t going to end, no one is going to die. Just people looking for the same rights as everyone else.

    Liz Says:

Well Cynthia, not ALL people feel the way you do. Personally, I’m for men and women getting married and that’s it. Not men and men, not women and women, not uncles and nieces, not aunts and nephews, not fathers and daughters, not mothers and sons…get my drift? We’ve opened a can of worms and now who will YOU BE to tell a brother he can’t marry his sister? Huh? You’re all nuts!

They just areb;t visually very groovy at all. Saw a pic of Ellen and Portia and they looked so good. Cynthia’s “better half” must be extremely charming.

    Yo' Says:

What’s goin on with you people?. Nobody’s talking about a father and his daughter getting married; nor a sister and bro getting married. We’re talking about the right of a man or a woman to marry the person (whichever it’s sexual identity is) they love, why can YOU marry the man/woman you love, but they don’t? They should have the same right to marry the person they love. As she said, it doesn’t have to be such a big deal and there are so many people out there just waiting to be allowed to get married! The only ones that are going to be bothered are the people that can’t understand the answer to that question. While the other people understand it and don’t give a ****, cause is nobody’s business who you married but it SHOULD BE your right. jfc people.

    Lou Says:

@Yo’: Homosexuality has existed since humankind appeared on earth and people are still debating their right to get marry in 2012. It’s just two people of the same sex getting married. What’s the big deal? It is time to move on!

Lol gay ” marriage” makes me laugh. I mean look at these two who takes their “marriage” serious? Let them have their fantasies nobody is going to believe their marriage its a fake marriage its in line with a little kid playing dress up.

    Emma Says:

@Liz: People worried about that during the discussion of legalizing interracial marriage as well.

    somali girl Says:

Interracial marriages were happening around the world. But not the US. Race has nothing to do with gay marriage they’re are plenty black homosexuals in the US too.

    mya Says:

As long as people can be happy, why not? Of course it opens the doors to crazy marriage but there’s a line to be draw and a dot to be put. Gay, interracial or straght commun marriage, we shouldn’t close our mind to this.

    brenda Says:

I am happy for them and think that it doesn’t matter what sex you marry as long as you are happy. I personally on the other hand think that if I were gay, I would go for the hottest girl out there. Just saying.

    Ginny Says:

Love the short hair on Cynthia. And her outfit.

About gay marriage, how about those:

    1) Being gay is not natural. Real Americans always reject unnatural things like eyeglasses, polyester, liposuction and air conditioning.

    2) Gay marriage will encourage people to be gay, in the same way that hanging around tall people will make you tall.

    3) Legalizing gay marriage will open the door to all kinds of crazy behavior. People may even wish to marry their pets because a dog has legal standing and can sign a marriage contract.

    4) Straight marriage has been around a long time and hasn’t changed at all; women are still property, blacks still can’t marry whites, and divorce is still illegal.

    5) Straight marriage will be less meaningful if gay marriage were allowed; the sanctity of Britney Spears’ 55-hour just-for-fun marriage would be destroyed.

    6) Straight marriages are valid because they produce children. Gay couples, infertile couples, and old people shouldn’t be allowed to marry because our orphanages aren’t full yet, and the world needs more children.

    7) Obviously gay parents will raise gay children, since straight parents only raise straight children.

    8) Gay marriage is not supported by religion. In a theocracy like ours, the values of one religion are imposed on the entire country. That’s why we have only one religion in America.

    9) Children can never succeed without a male and a female role model at home. That’s why we as a society expressly forbid single parents to raise children.

    10) Gay marriage will change the foundation of society; we could never adapt to new social norms. Just like we haven’t adapted to cars, the service-sector economy, or longer life spans…

    Morgan Says:

I’m always amused at the people that get their panties in a bunch over gay marriage. C’mon is it really hurting you? I think we have bigger things to worry about like Jerry Sandusky’s of the world that raped those young boys…..now that’s a vile human being.

    I think they are weirdos.
