Mandy Moore Used to Have Insecurities About Her Height

Mandy Moore picks up two drinks from Cafe Gratitude on Thursday (June 21) in Los Angeles.

The 28-year-old actress recently chatted about being the spokesperson for Dove’s new “Women Who Should Be Famous” campaign, which highlights real women role models that girls can look up to.

Asked if her self-esteem ever took a dive when she was growing up, Mandy revealed she “definitely had insecurities about my height.”

“I went through a big growth spurt and for a period of time, was taller than a lot of my friends,” the 5’10″ entertainer told Glamour.

“I used to hunch over and complain to my parents about sticking out or feeling awkward in my body. My mom, who is about eight inches shorter than me, never failed to mention how envious she was of my height and that it was a beautiful quality,” Mandy added. “She reminded me to embrace what I was given and stand tall with my shoulders back… I guess the grass is always greener.”

Dear god does everyone have insecurities now? But hey, I’m not hating I have a few myself.
But my height is most definitely NOT one of them. I’m 6’1 and the shortest in my family. Scary? I know. I love my height, I’m 15 and the tallest girl in my grade and i guess because of where I’m from, how I grew up and who my father was o_O no one has really every teased me about anything so I really never had true insecurities. Only thing I can name is the fact that I have a scar on my forehead that is barely noticeable but i still fuss about it for no apparent reason… Oh and my feet…. HUGE feet. Bigger than a normal 6’1 girl usually wears. Not gonna even say it though -.-

I love my height and it’s one thing about myself that I am extremely proud of. Plus my boyfriend is like 6’6 so we balance each other out….

    Life is good…….

    Mandy, you’re amazing and adorable.

Oh mandy, i feel the same. Everyone is telling how they want to be tall just like me, and i’m 5’11 at the age of 16…. It always make me feel like i want to be shorter. But we have to accept what god gave us #BornThisWay

For some reason I always thought she was shorter! She looked rather average height on film.

It’s so easy to have those insecurities before your 26/27 and not quite comfortable in this judgemental society. There are pros and cons of course of being tall. I would say the biggest pros are that you do not have to ask anyone to get something from taller shelves and that you can easily gain 8 pounds and nobody notices!!
