David Beckham Left Off British Olympic Soccer Team

David Beckham attends an L.A. Galaxy training session on Thursday (June 28) in Los Angeles.

Earlier in the day, news broke that the 37-year-old soccer star was not included in the British Olympic soccer squad for this summer’s London games.

“Everyone knows how much playing for my country has always meant to me, so I would have been honored to have been part of this unique Team GB squad,” David said in a statement (via CNN).

“Naturally I am very disappointed,” he added, “but there will be no bigger supporter of the team than me and like everyone, I will be hoping they can win the gold.”

He spent so much time and energy promoting the London 2012 Olympics and they leave him off the team? Nice.

Maybe if had not been busy being a celebrity, he would have made the team. He is past it, moving on!

# 4

I don’t think he’s at that level anymore.. he knows that. He should keep doing the celebrity thing.. :) imo.

# 5

Damn im sure he was looking foward to taking his shirt off :p

# 6

He’s not that much of a player anymore, but they should have kept him on just for eye candy.

Lol!! Awww. . . He’s still a good player, sure not as good as he was 10yrs ago but still good.

Ewwwww, I don’t know what people find attractive about Beckham All of his tattoos are disgusting and he is ok looking; not sexy or handsome. Great father, though.

He’s LEGEND
I Still Love Becks

Does someone of you know how Olympics works? Soccer olympic teams include ‘under 23′ players. It’s not the main national team who plays the Olympics. Just 3 older players can be added to the ‘under 21′ team. Beckham is not the best player in the UK. He’s well known but not among the betters.

I thought it is certain that he will play as the captain and with his number 7! It is very disappointing what Stuart Pearce is doing with him! By the way Stuart Pearce is a very bad trainer! You can see it for example at the U-21-Euro 2011… !

The endless pursuit of money, celebrity, fame, money is a path of destruction. He sold his sportsmanship and talent as a footballer …..He treated his priorities in terms of sport second best and now pays the price for that.
It is not too late to go back to your roots David. Go devote your time and energy to building and working in soccer schools and coaching or giving your contribution to the game without this awful couple branding and marketing celebrity circus. You will get more respect and your parents will truly be honoured.

GOOD. The GB team will be able to play in peace without the awful celebrity circus sideshow that would inevitably appear and try to take centrestage.

He lives in L.A now with the rest of the illuminate clan.

His publicists and management team have made a fool out of him while continuing to make money off him. He needs to wake up and stop being a tool and go back to the principles he was taught by the people who raised him and nurtured his football talent and career.

His ex-teammates are financially secure and wealthy. Retired or not they still have their earning power, based on their football and they do not have to sell their personal life or be over exposed in endorsements and marketing. They are better off than him, who seems trapped in the mire of celebrity and fame

i believe that it’s a very big mistake this choice and i think tha david deserves to be in this team. he did so many things for the olympics 2012 and they let him out.i believe thait is wrong. actually shame on them! PLEASE REPLY IF YOU AGREE!!!!!1

Not cool! Beckham has been one of the biggest supporters of the Olympics coming to London. He should have been on the team!
