Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone‘s The Amazing Spider-Man is off to an “amazing” start!

The superhero reboot grossed over $35 million on its opening day Tuesday (July 3), according to Deadline.

The previous record for the highest opening day on Tuesday was made by the first Transformers film, which brought in $27.8 million back in 2007. Back in 2002, the original Spider-Man broke records by grossing $114.8 million on its opening weekend, the most of any other film at the time.

I saw it today (in France) and it is so good !!! Andrew Garfield is definitely a perfect choice for Peter Parker !

  • lauren

did anyone else noticed that random titanic music in spiderman for no reason?

  • look out!

already saw it- LOVED it!!! Seeing it again tomorrow!

  • caxposed

@lauren: I did! At first I thought it was someone’s ringtone. After a while of hearing it, I thought my mind was playing tricks on me. Finally, I realized it HAD to be the film.

  • caxposed

Though I’ve already seen it, I wouldn’t mind watching it again. It was pretty great. Andrew Garfield as “Peter Parker” is just too adorably good to not want come back for seconds.

  • samiha

saw it yesterday! amaziiiiiiiiiiing! must see!

  • yes

Andrew is super-talented- he was just nominated for a Tony award, too! Brits/Aussies that do American accents so well amaze me.

  • Lisa

The film was so A W E S O ME, Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone are great in the movie. GO SEE THE FILM, IT’S GREAT

  • Savannah

I saw it yesterday and I can’t wait until I’ll see go again, it was, indeed amazing!

  • Savannah

@lauren: Hahah good to know I’m not the only one! In the beginning it was very much like titanic and then when Peter and Gwen had their first romantic moment, it felt for me like it was when jack and rose stod by the railing, but I don’t complain, it was awesome anyway.

The only thing I missed from the old “responsibility theme” from the other spider-man movies, at some point it sounded like it was going to come but unfortunately it didn’t but, as said, it was good anyway!

AWESOME Movie. Andrew Garfield is the PERFECT SPIDEY

  • rachel

Went to the midnight screening and it was awesome!! def seeing it again

  • Anne

This rebot was unecessary. Just to make money and I don’t think it’s right. Bad version of Spider man, putting an english boy playing an american icon. And the couple is so boring, the world can’t stand tham both. Money, money, money…. ridiculous.

  • dooliloo

@Anne: indeed it is for money reasons. Sony will do a reboot so Marvel won’t have Spiderman rights back, hece the trilogy.
I saw it and frankly found it utterly un-amazing! I didn’t hate it but I didn’t like it either… too much inconsistency, rushed at times, and too many plot-holes… as a Spiderman fan it didn’t bring out the essence not one bit, and Andrew Garfield, he is a decent actor however he was just too good looking and too charming as Spiderman even when his character was awkward… oh well!
