Oscar Winning Actor Ernest Borgnine Dead at 95

Ernest Borgnine, Oscar winning actor for his portrayal of Marty Piletti, a good-natured but socially awkward butcher in the 1955 film Marty, has passed away at the age of 95.

His longtime spokesperson, Harry Flynn, commented that the skilled actor passed away at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center on Sunday (July 8) surrounded by his loved ones, according to the Associated Press.

More recently, Ernest earned an Emmy nomination at the age of 92 for his work on ER and also voiced the role of Mermaid Man for the animated series SpongeBob SquarePants.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Ernest‘s family and friends during this difficult time.
