This is so stupid. The third book was the most boring and they want to drag it out into two movies?

    Stupid.

    cam Says:

    Harry Potter did it better.

    jen_block Says:

I like HG but this is soooo not needed. The third book sucked.

    tim Says:

actually its a great oportunite to develop the book. there were so many missing points in there.

    Sam Says:

Why so far apart? Do what Potter did and have in autumn and summer.
I’ll be in my 20s before it’s over.

    Thomas Says:

Uuummm..NO! Please stop trying to make this two-part thing work..Potter was the only one that nailed it because it had two different plots and was clearly shown with the two movies..But Tw and HG!? You’ve gotta be freaking kidding me!!!!!

    nathy Says:

expected! why make 700millions dollar whe you can double that with 2 movies…

    sadie Says:

@tim: you mean a great opportunity for greedy studios to make cash?

    true Says:

omg they can’t be serious. “Mockingjay” is not just boring, it’s a ****, the worst book I ever read.

    Gabby Says:

This is getting old now. It was a big deal when Potter did it, but now all the other studios are clearly using it as a ploy to get more money. It was unnecessary with Twilight and even though it’s a wonderful book…it’s unnecessary with The Hobbit. To be fair to the Hunger Games, splitting the last book may actually work in its favor, because the last book was so rushed. The author tried to cram so much in that there didn’t seem like there was enough time for the plot to really develop. So, splitting Mockingjay may actually be a good idea.

    mackenzie Says:

@Thomas: HP nailed it and I think it was a good idea for Twilight too. It would have been too rushed to have the wedding/honeymoon, the birth, bella’s transformation, the child growing, and the volturi attack all in one movie. Both HP and BD were very long books, while Mockingjay is short.

    chris Says:

What? That’s ridiculous! I’ve read the book and has no the extension as the “Deathly Hallows” or “Breaking Dawn” for making 2 films …. This decision is totally commercial decision

  14. 14
    nonya Says:

why are all these movies copying harry potter?!?!

  15. 15
    Uhmm Says:

Ugh. I like THG, but is every movie like that just doing it like HP? Way to do it JUST. FOR MONEY.

  16. 16
    Lisa Says:

I’ll be 24 when Mockingjay part 2 comes out. I’ll be freaking old! No, but seriously, as a huge, huge fan of the books, and as much as I want to see Josh and Jen doing interviews and movies together until the end of time, I believe this is kind of unnecessary. We’ll be seeing a lot of the Capitol torture and a lot of hijacking in these movies, that much I can tell you.

  17. 17
    Gabby Says:

    @nonya:

Because both parts of the last Potter film made a TON of money…double the amount it would have made if they had gone with one film. So, of course…that’ why…it’s all about money.

  18. 18
    Kaylee Says:

I am so over the ‘splitting one book into two movies’ thing. it just reeks of money making not movie making. it ruins the momentum of the book by being split into two parts a year apart.

only time i dont care is The Hobbit. more hobbit is always great

  19. 19
    Scarlett Says:

Really? This is only the second movie. It works with HP and Twilight because. They were the last movie in series and you could cutting it i half and make two completely different movies. (( Not completely but they could stand alone))

I gonna be like 25 before this series is over. :/

  20. 20
    Rose Says:

@Lisa: @Scarlett: OMG! all these stupid saying how many years they will have when the film finished. And by the way, Scarlett, you’re already an adult.

  21. 21
    Sun Says:

    @mackenzie: Shut up

  22. 22
    Sun Says:

@chris: BD don’t needed 2 movies. They do it for cash.

  23. 23
    Sun Says:

@Rose: BRAVO! They’re Twilight fans. Their brains doesn’t work

  24. 24
    HpandTwilightFan Says:

for the twilight and hp fans the books needed to be cut into two as there was so much in the books that by doing one they would have cut out bits that were needed adn would have made a lot of fans angery.

  25. 25
    Scarlett Says:

    @rose
Oh really i wouldn’t have guessed.

  26. 26
    chris Says:

@Sun: Can you read? I wrote about the extension of Breaking Dawn and Deathly Hallows, not if they needed 2 or 1 one movie.

  27. 27
    Jennica Panettiere Says:

At least Harry Potter made them wait 6 months between the final book. They’re going to make people wait a whole year for the same book? Ugh.

And seeing those years ahead makes you slightly depressed. 2015 almost 2016? I seriously don’t want to even think about that.

  28. 28
    Sayer Says:

It worked for HP because there was a lot of details in it. It worked for Twilight because BD was almost 2 books in 1. I am not sure it will work for HG. We’ll see.

  29. 29
    kristin Says:

this can be seen as a good thing. it makes the series last longer although the large gap sucks. of course it isn’t necessary, but the last book of a series is usually the most important, which means there is a lot to cover. stuff you can’t afford to have cut out. cutting it into two parts is more profitable as well. and we all saw it coming. so stop complaining. you are all saying it was the worst book of the series, then why are you complaining? if you hated the book then why see the movie anyway? enjoy the series while it last, we all know harry potter ended too soon and that went on for 10 years…enjoy it and if you hated the book don’t see it, simple as that. besides this is not anytime soon. wait for catching fire before you complain about mockingjay

  30. 30
    Gilmore Says:

    Ugh, so unnecessary.

  31. 31
    Jessica Says:

Ok, I am a potterhead, but news like this make me wish that the last HP movie (or Warner) has been in 2 parts..

  32. 32
    Kaylee Says:

    @Scarlett:

Mockinjay isnt the second book. its the third. thus the last. Catching Fire is the second.

  33. 33
    Hera Says:

Why? (I know for the money!) It makes no sense honestly. The third book was the most boring..I dont understand. And its not even that long!! Stop copying hp!

  34. 34
    keka Says:

OH PLEASE STOP WITH THE TWILIGHT. harry potter is the only book that needed to be split into 2 movies because they have to finish off everyone’s story lines and all of the backstories. putting mockingjay and twilight into 2 movies is simply a money move. as much as I love hunger games there is really nothing in either of those books to be making it into 2 movies.

  35. 35
    S Says:

That is unnecessary. So much of the 3rd book is just Katniss thinking to herself about what happened in the 2nd book.

  36. 36
    Carla Says:

STOP COMPLAINING EVERYONE. It’s what they’ve decided on.

  37. 37
    DANIELA Says:

Ok guys, stop this stupid discussion! Mockingjay isn’t that boring. It’s just not as good as the first two. And we have to remember that in the books we only see what katniss see and think. And She doesn’t now too much about what’s really happening, she proposly ignores everything! There is the war, the politics, the tourtures, the characters development… And I have faith in the HG production team, they did an awsome job in THG movie exploring other points of view. So many remarkebles scenes. They will do a good job, and will worth the cash they’ll have. Allthought I think Caching Fire would be a better option to split into two, I believe Mockingjay can be wonderfull.

  38. 38
    Breahna Says:

    @Scarlett:
Lol noooooo, mocking jay is the 3rd movie, catching fire is the second.

  39. 39
    Meme Says:

So silly, clearly a decision all about greed. I mean even the LOTR trilogy which you would think would have maybe 5 movies was only 3. Quantity over quality geez

  40. 40
    Mila Says:

OK, Mockingjay is very linear and does not need to be divided in half. If anything, catching fire should, as more happens, agree/disagree??

  41. 41
    GracyBell Says:

There are just three books already… two movies means more details on screen! Yay! More HG the better! <3

  42. 42
    jenfan Says:

I happen to think the third book was AMAZING..but I don’t really see where they can split it…but let’s give them the benefit of the doubt

Stop judging they havent even started filming Catching Fire yet…I’m sure Mockingjay Pt 1 and 2 will be amazing!!!

  43. 43
    Mel Says:

As much as I love both twilight and THG series, I also think that this decision was more about the money they’ll make..FYI, both movies have the same distribution company (Summit’s merged with Lionsgate)..And Summit has already had patent for another similar ‘books into movies’ franchise distributions like Divergent..I hope the producer, director, and all ppl who works to make this movie still care about the qualities and the essence of the book.
