Maria Sharapova - ESPY Awards 2012 Red Carpet

Maria Sharapova is a beauty in blue as she hits the red carpet at the 2012 ESPY Awards held at Nokia Theatre L.A. Live on Wednesday (July 11) in Los Angeles.

The 25-year-old tennis player was nominated for Best Female Athlete. She was up against Baylor Basketball’s Brittney Griner, alpine skier Lindsey Vonn, and soccer player Abby Wambach. The award ultimately went to Brittney who thanked her family, including her mom watching from home.

“I love attending the ESPYs – such a night of glamour! It’s a rare occasion to have so many talented athletes in one spot,” Maria exclusively told JustJared.com. “For the same reasons, I can’t wait for my first Olympics in two weeks, I know that will be a career experience I will cherish for a long time.”

Later this month, Maria will be playing in her first Olympics game for her home country Russia! She will also be the first woman to ever carry the flag for Russia. Congrats, Maria!!!
