Mariah Carey is the newest rumored celebrity to be taking over one of the open American Idol judging gigs!
“She’s in play,” an insider told People about the 42-year-old entertainer. “They are in serious talks.”

News of Mariah‘s potential interest comes just one day after Steven Tyler confirmed his Idol exit. Jennifer Lopez also made some strong statements regarding not returning as well.
Miley Cyrus and Adam Lambert are also rumored to be in talks for potential Idol judging spots.

honestly just end the show, the main charm was Simon, Paula and Randy. Soon as both of them left now its down the hill.
JLO and Steven were a nice hold for awhile, they brought their own charm but now no.
Leave it with the mark it left, don’t keep degrading it. No matter how big the celeb is it can’t continue, especially with competition like The Voice, X Factor and America’s Got Talent
No need to replace JLo, just give her a nice raise and leave Mimi Glitter and her brand of Crazy at home.
Mimi’s husband has a job hosting America’s Got Talent. it was JLO who tried to get her little boy lover a job on Idol but the producers nixed that stupidity. I hope mariah turns it down she doesn’t need it Mariah is a real talent unlike that previous has been who just left (not Steve). American Idol should be retired it has run its course and became stale when Simon left.
Ratings with down 30% when they hired Jennifer Lopez she wasn’t worth the money and it was silly watching her trying to judge people who were more talented than she was.

ITAWU! Show has not been the same since Simon left. My only comment is Mariah CAN sing and would be a great judge. JLO can’t sing without making me want to put cotton in my ears. The woman is annoying as hell. Show needs to be put out to pasture.

Mariah can always go to JLO’s plastic surgeon to fix her “sripper boobs and stuffed cheeks”. Fortunately, she doesn’t need fixing unlike JLO.
You know why it’s a rumor because it’s a rumor? Every newspaper in the world has reported that she’s in talk to join idol even before Jennifer Lopez signed on. The same thing happened for X-factor and both turned out to be rumors.
Mariah is above AI, however, I think she would honestly be a really good judge who would give solid constructive criticism to the contestants. And plus she’s a true talent (she writes and sings) with a career that has exceeded for over twenty years, countless awards and number 1 hits. Also I don’t think she has an album in the works at the moment (or am I wrong) and her children are walking and talking now. So this would be a good time for her. I would love to see her write a correlation song for the final two. I think it would be epic!

Mariah…. HELL yes, she would be an EXCELLENT judge, the lady has talent and can sing; on the other hand, Miley… HELL NO.. and Adam Lambert.. maybe? I read X-Factor’s execs try to recruit Mariah for X-FactorUSA and was unsuccessful due to scheduling conflict?
It would be nice to have a judge that can actually SING for a change.

you people are semi wits at best Mariah wouldn’t be a good perminant judge on Idol she can’t critize people when she needs to and doesn’t have the time to devote to it with her twins being babies/toddlers a new albm comming out and Nick having a chronic illness lupus. Idol has run it’s course
I hope not. I know they desperately need to get a real singer with an actual octave range in this but HELL NO Mariah, you’re SO much better than this ish….
