Amanda Plummer: Wiress in 'Hunger Games: Catching Fire'!

Veteran actress Amanda Plummer is the latest addition to the cast of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire!

The 55-year-old Emmy and Tony-award winning actress will play Wiress in the much anticipated sequel to The Hunger Games. The character’s eccentricity earns her the nickname “Nuts” from fellow tributes, and though she doesn’t communicate traditionally, her observations and contributions prove invaluable in the Quarter Quell.

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire begins as Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) has returned home safe after winning the 74th Annual Hunger Games along with fellow tribute Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson). Winning means that they must turn around and leave their family and close friends, embarking on a “Victor’s Tour” of the districts. Along the way Katniss senses that a rebellion is simmering, but the Capitol is still very much in control as President Snow prepares the 75th Annual Hunger Games, The Quarter Quell – a competition that could change Panem forever.

if she could play a dog in a Simple Wish then she can do anything. another great casting!!! :)

Glad that they are employing PROVING actors. Catching Fire should be action filled, whereas am expecting an oscar worthy performance by Jennifer for Mocking jay part one- that movie is going to need SPECTACULAR performance by everyone to connect with the audience. No pressure ;)

First film was completely overrated and cheap looking. Hoping this one is an improvement.

She has not aged What-So-Ever. Cant believe she’s 55!

@loki_lover: I agree with you. I absolutely love the books and I really liked the movie, I think it was good but there just…I dunno when my brother and me left the cinema we were just like….is that it? Is that the great Hunger Games, we were waiting for? I mean the soundtrack was bad…they had so many good songs in it they didn’t play any of it. I was constantly waiting for something to just set my heart on fire and there was nothing. So I agree with you that it was way too overrated.

she is such an amazing character actress…..she has done some great work on Law & Order SVU as a homeless woman with schizophrenia.
