Katie Holmes Returning to Broadway in 'Dead Accounts'!

Katie Holmes has made her first big career move following her divorce to Tom Cruise with a role in the upcoming Broadway play Dead Accounts!

The 33-year-old actress will play “a fairly unglamorous character, Lorna, who is living with her aging parents in Cincinnati while trying to pull together her own life (which includes being on a diet),” according to the New York Times.

Dead Accounts, written by Smash creator Theresa Rebeck, is a five character comedy that also “centers on one of her siblings, a prodigal son who returns home with secrets, including a load of new money and a missing wife.”

No dates or other casting have been announced yet for the play, which is expected to debut on the Great White Way this Fall.

WILL YOU SEE Katie Holmes in her return to Broadway?

I like the idea of her returning to broadway. I’m just nervous about it being a comedy. Not sure if comedy is her strong point, but maybe it’s a dark comedy. Anyway, I wish her good luck!

    Do you get the impression
    that Tom “Tapped that azz”
before he swooped off with their daughter????

I think that they took the time
    for a quickie.

    Haaaa haaaa ha.

THAT is the look of satisfaction
    from Daddy, imo.

Saw her in All My Sons and she lacks stage presence plus her acting skills were not that great. I’m sure she’ll fill the theater, but it won’t be because she can act.

I don’t think katie holmes is a good actress at all. she only has one facial expression, ever since dawson’s creek!!!! it never changed. and I don’t think ever will. It wasn’t tom who was holding her back, it was her lack of talent.

    Edge Says:

She’s so fresh and beautiful in this pic. I hope she starts dressing her age now (i.e. not go for outfits that would suit 90 year old ladies).

she cant act. and she blamed tom because she wasnt getting parts in films. but when she was in the Kennedy SHE was the only one of the MAJOR stars NOT to be nominated for an award. thats when she decided to get a divorce because she blamed him. she didnt get nominated because the ‘industry hated him’ and not because of her wooded acting. well when she fails now who is she going to blame

    CF98 Says:

Good for her and I don’t think Tom held her back career wise but its her life and its nice to see her making her own decisions.

so I guess this is part of the divorce settlement..she better make the most out of it..because if she tanks…it will be horrendous

She looked like hell last time she did a Broadway show. Pale, tired, cold sores, dark rings under her eyes…it was brutal. Wonder how she’s going to handle it this time.

    Hamlet Says:

How was he holding her back, #3? She starred in a play while married to him and supported her all the time.

Where are you getting that she blamed her ex-husband for anything, #11?

    @ Says:

She can’t act or sing or dance for that matter and was horrible in “All My Sons” that why the play only lasted for a couple months.

This is not going to be any different but she might get a lot of simpathy views of people feeling sorry for her. It’s only going to last for a sort time she better enjoy it while it last.

    christine Says:

somehow i doubt a divorce will improve her horrid acting skills. she would be a former tv star right now if it wasn’t for cruise.

    Kate Says:

I disagree with all that said she can’t act have you ever watched Disurbing Behavior, Pieces of April, The Gift, The Kennedy’s, and Batman Begins. This was said about Katie in the new Elle article. It was said by Christian Camargo who was in the All My Sons play with her and just directed her in the movie taken from The Seagull(famous Chekov novel) Of All My Sons he said she was the most fearless of anyone and everyone was shocked by how she attacked the part. Of The Seagull movie he said Similarly she jumped into pre-filming improve exercises for this film with incredible freedom setting a tone of experimentation and playfulness that invigorated the whole ensemble. Of Katie he said I really feel like she is owed more as far as the industry is concerned, as far as her talent, She’s got such depth that people take it for granted, or are sort of blinded by all the hype of the personal stuff. Of himself he said It doesn’t bother me that your going to have some Chekhov fans going Oh my god Katie Holmes In Chekhov?
