    Real Says:

Spain needs this measures BADLY. BUT Political perks and advantages should be reduced to non existent. They should proceed with cuts at EVERY step of the lader. Starting from the millionaires and highest incomes. Middle class represents the main social group within the Spanish society, with this measurements the piramid is changing, pushing people down to lower classes and making the gap to the rich, very very substantial. That is not what Spain should become.

Europeans have zero sense of fiscal responsibility; if the country is on the verge of insolvency with 25% unemployment, do the Spanish people expect their government to borrow and spend what it does not have? Ridiculous!

Obama is doing the same to us with his greens scams and spending to the tune of Six Trillion.
Spain is suffering the results of a “Green Economy”.

Not all Europeans. Don’t forget that the countries that have been honest en have been giving billions to save the slack countries that have been feeding flase financial info to the EU.

In a time like this they should stop protesting about cut backs on culture. Would they rather have cut backs on healthcare, education etc. ?

LOL! What green scams? President Obama didn’t spend $6 Trillion dollars. No President can spend without Congress. Bushie 2 and his mad spenders left behind an economic catastrophe annd systemic deficits at near a trillion dollars per annum with unfunded prescription drug gifts to big pharma; three wars off the budget for 7 years and no restraint on health care costs.

    meself Says:

@Nina: Well, you see, we’ve already had cuts on education and helthcare, so at the moment, the fact that they’ve raised the VAT from 18% to 21% (in the case of cinemas/concerts/theatre from a reduced VAT of 8%, thus more than doubling the taxes) doesn’t really excite spaniards. Especially when you consider that they’re not fighting tax evaders (they’ve habilitated a way for them to laundry their money, just paying 10% income tax no questions asked), that they’re not raising the taxes for higher incomes ot that they’re not prosecuting the bankers that led the country into such mess – something that, of course, they’re not doing because they had a share of the profits. Spanish politician are all utter sh*t and the people need to raise their voices against them.
